本文依据"母语迁移"理论,结合自己多年的外语教学实践经验和理论思考,主要从价值观、思维模式和民族习俗三方面,阐述母语文化对少数民族学生学习外语的影响及这些影响对外语教学提供的借鉴和启示,以使外语教学工作者在少数民族外语教学中充分发挥母语文化对外语学习的正迁移作用,避免母语文化对外语学习的负迁移,提高民族院校的外语教学质量.

母语对外语学习产生着不可避免的影响。这种影响主要表现在外部语言和内部语言之间的“迁移”过程中。外语学习中所犯的错误是学习者母语习惯“负迁移”的结果。“负迁移”主要是由于母语和目的语之间在句法结构、思维方式和文化习俗等方面的差异而引起的。在外语教学中，应尽量发挥母语“正迁移”的作用，消除母语的“负迁移”效应。     

思维模式迁移——外语教与学的重要策略
