As the only tragedy written by Oscar Wilde,Salome enjoys a unique status among all the works of Wilde. It is the representative work of aestheticism and has faced as many controversies as its author since the day it came out.Through the careful analysis of the conflict revealed both inside the play and outside the play, and based on Aristotle’s tragedy theory to interpret the causes of these conflicts,it can be concluded that the design of the conflict in Salome is in accordance with the tragedy theory.Furthermore, interpreting Salome from the perspective of Aristotle’s theory has attached this play with more intricate meaning and different understanding.  相似文献

Pangs of Love tells the experiences of Chinese American immigrants, and especially the pangs the narrator, as a second generation, feels in family, love and social affairs. Based on the analysis of the narrator’s pangs, this paper argues that it is mainly the uncertainty of cultural identity that leads to the pangs of the narrator, and of the second generation Chinese Americans. This paper shows that the second generation can take advantage of their dual but conflicting cultural heritages to develop a renewed and specific cultural identity.  相似文献

This article examines the place occupied by maps in children’s picturebooks. After a brief overview of the different roles that are assigned to maps in children’s books, the article considers five French picturebooks—Warja Lavater’s Le petit chaperon rouge (1965), Olivier Douzou and Isabelle Simon’s L’autobus numéro 33 (1996), Véronique Vernette’s Cocorico poulet Piga (1999), Rebecca Dautremer and Arthur Leboeuf’s Le loup de la 135 ème (2008) and Kochka and Fabienne Cinquin’s Dans ma ville, il y a… (2011)—in order to focus on how the narrative, whether enclosed, superimposed or linked to the text in some other way, is evoked by the geographic shape of the maps. It is argued that the particular use and function of a map depends on its shape or placement in a book, distinguishing between the incorporation of maps only as a significant picture (its use) from the subject within the whole narrative (its function). Thus the article articulates what uses a map can have within a narrative. It also explores the mechanics of the iconotext, showing that a cartographic picture fulfils a precise, rather than a general, function of spatialisation. Hence three main functions of spatialisation in maps and mapping are distinguished, whereby an author could use maps to help a character discover, conquer, or organise a space.  相似文献

Using three waves of data, this study examined the relationship between dispositional hope and constructive conflict communication (i.e., “voice” behaviors) in adult romantic relationships. The primary goal was to test if dispositional hope directly predicted voice or if the hope–voice link is mediated by the more relationally proximal variable of conflict efficacy. Results of cross-lagged panel model analysis showed that hope directly predicted voice, even when controlling for variables, such as optimism, general self-efficacy, commitment, and alternative forms of conflict communication. Implications for hope theory-based relational interventions and future research of hope and conflict communication are discussed.  相似文献

The raven is a narrative poem written by American writer Edgar Allan Poe. It tells of a talking raven’s mysterious visit in a midnight to a distraught lover, tracing the lover’s slow fall into madness. The lover is lamenting the loss of his beloved, Lenore. The raven, sitting on a bust of Pallas, seems to further instigate his distress with its constant repetition of the word"Nevermore".  相似文献
