Improving Academic Advising Through Student Seminars: A Case Study

Effective advising can be a challenge for most criminal justice and criminology programs due to the high enrollment and the variety of careers available in the field. One technique designed to address these challenges is the group advising method. The purpose of this study was to examine the details, processes, and execution of a particular group advising method, called student advising seminars, implemented over a two-year period in a criminal justice department at a four-year state-owned university. Preliminary data measuring student accountability and satisfaction are also examined. The findings indicate student advising seminars, as it is described in this case study, have a potential of providing effective and efficient advising.     

词块教学法提高大学英语写作能力的实证研究

英语写作一直是大学英语教学中的薄弱环节,如何提升大学英语写作教学效果一直是亟待解决的问题。研究表明,作为一种教学方法,词块教学法在大学英语写作教学中具有适用性和可行性,能明显提高非英语专业大学生英语写作能力。     

宁波市体育用品制造业集群现象及发展模式研究

采用文献资料、企业访谈、联合调查等方法,对宁波市体育用品制造业集群现象进行调研。结果显示:宁波体育用品制造业是以“家庭作坊”作为基本生产单位发展起来的,现各具特色、形成规模的体育用品生产的特色区域在不断的壮大,发展势头依然强劲。体育用品制造业的集群化已初具规模,但存在发展地域性的差异。进而提出了发展模式,为体育用品制造业的发展提供理论依据。     

中国航空航天器制造业R&D活动投入产出绩效分析

依据十二五期间中国航空航天器制造业的相关数据,在对航空航天器制造业R&D活动投入产出现状分析的基础上,采用DEA模型及Malmquist指数对中国航空航天器制造业R&D活动的绩效水平进行分析.结果表明:十二五期间中国航空航天器制造业R&D活动的资源投入无论是在绝对量还是年均增长率上都处于较低水平,但在产出上,虽然绝对量水平较低,但其年均增长率却处于领先水平;2011至2015年中国航空航天器制造业R&D活动的综合效率属于严重DEA无效,其规模效率处于较低水平但其规模报酬一直处于递增的状态;与2011年相比,2015年中国航空航天器制造业R&D活动的全要素生产效率在这5个行业中的增长速率最快,这主要取决于其规模效率的提高,这与中国致力推动航空航天器制造业的发展相呼应.     

城市多模态语言景观透视及研究 ——以世界制造业大会为例

文章选取世界制造业大会为调研对象,采取语言景观的综合性研究方法,通过语言层面和象征层面对语言选择、语符转换、标牌类属、多模态特征等4个维度剖析了该区域的多模态语言景观实态.研究发现:该区域主要以双语标牌为主;私人标牌和官方标牌从功能、数量、多模态形态等方面差异明显;汉语占有绝对优势,这些特点充分体现出语言景观中的权势关系原则和突显自我原则.为了树立良好的区域形象,彰显国际化特色,针对语言景观中存在的译写不规范、多语缺失等问题,提出需要完善和规整合肥市的语言景观建议,以期为安徽省"三个强省"的战略规划提供和谐的语言生态环境.     

改善孤独症儿童随班就读状况的个案研究

本文运用个案研究方法,对一名孤独症儿童进行为期5个月的研究。通过观察法、访谈法、调查问卷等方法,分析探讨了孤独症儿童随班就读的成功教育经验,并为特殊教育人士、孤独症儿童家长、普通小学的老师提供了适当建议。     

A Case Study of Improving a Reading Class via Peer Observation

The significance of peer observations has been emphasized in English language teaching as a powerful tool to support understanding and development of one’s teaching beliefs and actual practice.This thesis first presents the position and necessity of employing peer observation in teacher’s professional development with reference to the literature,and then it outlines the process of the author’s implementation of peer observation in classroom in terms of pre-,during-and post-observation.Data interpretation provides more insights into the strengths and problems of the author’s classroom teaching and arrangement,and the possible solutions accordingly.     

A level and Beyond: A Case Study

Question: At this early stage how do you feel about the transition from sixth-form life to life in higher education? Answer: I'm rather unsure as I expected that the standards expected would be harder but they're not; e.g. in English instead of expecting a greater understanding of certain ‘principles’ we have already studied, the subject has taken a shift in a different direction (is this clear?). Instead of doing character studies and interpretation of texts, we are applying headings such as ‘sonnet and ode’, ‘authority’, ‘varieties of non fictional prose’. 通过在云南孟波镇中学的田野调查发现,教师的多元文化意识在提高少数民族学生学业成绩中具有重要作用。因此,我国的教师教育应加强对教师多元文化意识的培养,以满足文化多样性背景下对教师的要求。

Abstract：

A field investigation at Yunnan Mengbo Township Middle School showed that teacher’s multi-cultural sense plays an important role in improving academic achievements of ethnic minority students.Therefore,in teacher education,sense of multi-cultures should be cultivated to meet the need of teachers under the background of multi-cultures.     

提高高功能自闭症儿童语言应用能力的个案研究

在对一例高功能自闭症儿童语言应用能力的训练进行个案分析的基础上,总结提高高功能自闭症语用能力的实践经验。结果表明,针对高功能自闭症儿童的语用特点,制定切实可行的语训计划,并辅之以多种适当的方法,对其进行早期干预,可以取得比较理想的效果。

提高本科生毕业设计质量的研究与实践——以东南大学经济管理学院为例

本文以东南大学经济管理学院本科生毕业设计为研究对象,通过对其进行统计分析发现:学生毕业设计成绩在95%的置信水平下服从正态分布;学生毕业设计评分指标中工作态度得分最高,而创新性得分最低;指导教师职称影响学生毕业设计成绩。针对上述统计分析结果,提出了提高毕业设计质量的相关建议。     

Organizational Change: A Case Study

Universities are often characterized as highly resistant to change, but this is not always true. In circumstances of major threat to institutional survival they may be as susceptible to change as any other large complex organization. This article presents a case study of major organizational change in a mid-sized (17,000 students) university in Ontario, Canada. It concludes that, while formal internal processes may vary from one institution to another, many of the tenets of change theory applicable to other organizations also apply in universities. Lessons about when and how such change can be effected are suggested.

The case studyoutlines both the strategies pursued, together withthe results both for students and the organisation'sstaff of the renewed focus on teaching and learning.
