因特网的一个重要方面是网络主页面(Homepage)的制作,曾有一位留美学者在国内报告时提到由于联机编目,套录数据,使美国的编目人员面临危机,一些图书馆为他们找的出路就是做 Homepage。制作主页用到的主要工具是 HTML 语言。本期刊出一篇介绍 HTML 和制作网络主页的文章,尽管从 Internet 的发展至今,刊出这类文章已经是晚了一些,但从目前我国图书馆发展网络的进程来看,也许正是时候。用 HTML 制作网络主页,从技术上讲并不复杂,但真正制作出好的、引人入胜的网页也非易事。作为 HTML 主页制作工具的掌握是有限的,而对主页的创作是无止境的。从某种意义上讲,制作网络主页的关键不是技术问题,而是创意和题材

广电高清制作网升级项目的设计与实现——以福建省广播影视集团东南卫视为例

Polyurethane foaming resins have been found more satisfactory for mounts than wood, polystyrene foam and perspex. The procedure for making a mount is described. The time required to make a single mount is about a week. Additional mounts can then be made in days.     

Engagement as Co-Generative Theorizing

To meet current and ever shifting problems people continually need new and better ways to attend to, talk about, and respond in the world. All communities can have an impoverished language for talking about human interaction and making decisions in times of fundamental and rapid change. Three current impoverishments are discussed. Engaged scholarship using co-generative theorizing can initiate productive conversations enriching the languages of both scholarly and everyday life communities.     

Information Quality,Uncertainty, and Quality of Care in Long-Distance Caregiving

Approximately 13% of Americans who provide care for an ailing family member do so from a distance, making long-distance caregiving a relevant health communication topic to study. A self-report online survey examined the quality of information provided by care recipient to distant caregiver, uncertainty about care recipient health, and perceived quality of care from the distant caregivers' perspective. Information quality, uncertainty, and perceived quality of care were significantly related as predicted. How these findings offer new insight into the complex nature of distant caregiving communication is discussed.     

Competing Discourses and Meaning Making in Talk about Romantic Partners’ Cell-Phone Contact with Non-Present Others

Focus groups were conducted with 51 college students to examine how participants engaged in meaning making about the presence and use of cell phones with non-present others while in the context of dating and spending time with romantic partners. Grounded in relational dialectics theory, qualitative analysis revealed two sets of competing discourses at play in college students’ talk about cell phones: discourses of community and romance and discourses of control and freedom. The interplay of these competing discourses illuminated participants’ struggles with being available to others while trying to provide attention to their dating partners. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed.

How to Talk to IT about Digital Preservation

When an archivist talks with the information technology (IT) personnel about providing access to digital collections, the discussion often proceeds smoothly. They have shared assumptions, the common goal of the platform is well understood by both parties, and the vocabulary used to describe actions, tasks, and items is substantially the same, or at least agreed-upon. However, when the discussion turns to digital preservation, there may be a divergence in priorities and understanding. While the archivist’s priority is on making sure their digital assets are preserved and accessible forever, the IT personnel’s focus may be on making current data publicly accessible, making sure that systems are running smoothly right now. To further complicate matters, IT personnel have been performing an activity that sounds very much like digital preservation: archiving, backups, and storage of multiple copies. This column will explore the convergence and divergence of the archival and IT professions in regards to digital preservation, as well as suggest the topics and questions that need to be discussed so that both parties have a mutual understanding of meeting the needs of providing appropriate digital preservation.     

Decision‐making collaboration scale: Tests of validity

A trait Decision‐Making Collaboration Scale was discussed and examined for reliability and validity. The scale represents on‐going scale development to measure decision‐making tendencies. The premise is that individuals are generally willing or not willing to participate collaboratively in decision‐making communication interpersonally. The 13‐item measure is described. Support for validity was addressed by investigating the relationships between the decision‐making construct with argumentativeness, verbal aggression, interpersonal communication competence, and willingness to communicate. Willingness to participate in collaborative decision making was moderately related to argumentativeness, competence, and willingness to communicate in a positive manner, while slightly related to verbal aggression in a negative manner. Some construct validity was offered by asking participants to report their decision‐making tendencies and comparing these reports to their friends’ ratings of them. No significant differences were found. Implications for future research are discussed.

论文收录证明辅助系统的设计与应用

出具论文收录证明是高校图书馆信息咨询部的重要业务之一,其基本流程为客户提出申请,图书馆员检索引文数据库,从检索结果文件提取论文信息,生成报告等。其中最耗时的环节为从引文文件提取信息的蛮力过程,所耗时间和论文篇数呈线性增长。文章首先分析了开具检索证明的业务流程和业内研究现状,其次分析了检索结果文件,接着设计和开发了论文收录证明报告辅助系统,最后以系统在本校超过三年的使用效果说明：该系统极大地提高了出具收录证明的速度和信息咨询部的工作效率,是一套具有参考和推广价值的系统。     

论高校图书馆的管理决策

高校图书馆管理者的决策水平对高校图书馆的工作产生直接的影响。高校图书馆决策的程序是：提出问题、确定目标、拟定方案、分析评价、优选方案、追踪决策、高校图书馆的决策体制是校长领导下的馆长负责制，高校图书馆的决策方式主要有个人决策和民主决策两种。
