The Acquisition-Leaming distinction is the most fundamental of all the hypotheses in Krashen＇s theory and the most widely known among linguists and language practitioners. The relationship between the cognitive development and language acquisition is one of the linguists＇ concerns. Cognitive process is usually defined as any mental process which learners make use of in language learning, such as inferencing, generalization, deductive learning, monitoring and memorizing. Cognitive process can also be thought of as the development and maturation of cognitive capacity. This paper will focus on the difference of cognitive process between native language acquisition and second language learning.

Reflections on Subjective Well-being Measures Research

There were three traditions of subjective well-being （SWB） measures research： measures related to quality of life, measures related to mental health, and measures related to psychological development. Although the western researchers had made great progress in this field, there still had been some problems, including the integration of various indicators, the innovation to research methodology, and the cultural difference. Based on the past literature on measures of SWB and related literature on happiness from metaphysics, the author proposed the standpoint and train of thought through experience view. it was considered that happiness was the subjective reflection to the real-life, it was not only related to the people＇s objective life condition, but also related to their needs and value. SWB is the positive psychological experience to one＇s status of existence and development. The respect of measures research through experience view was the content of the experience, namely the object that brought the experience. The measures research through experience view would study in the conformity train of thought; and it would focus on the relatively steady psychological phenomenon. The measurement instrument developed through this view would be suitable generally.

The Psychological Basis for the Identification of Physical Environmental Parameters in the Development of Early Cognitive Competence1,2

Abstract:Ulvund, S. E. 1981. The Psychological Basis for the Identification of Physical Environmental Parameters in the Development of Early Cognitive Competence. Scandinavian Journal of Educational Research 25,125‐140. A theoretical analysis focussing on the identification of physical environmental parameters in the development of early cognitive competence is presented. Referring to cognitive competence as a collective term of cognitive behavior as considered by Piaget (1952) and Hunt (1965), a theoretical frame of reference based on Brunswik's (1955) unit and Wohlwill's (1973) conceptions of the environment as a source of stimulation versus the environment as a context for behavior, is discussed. It is further suggested that different variants of the optimal stimulation hypothesis, combined with a transactional model of development (Sameroff, 1975a), form a highly relevant psychological basis for the identification of physical environmental parameters. Some implications for coming research are suggested.

进化心理学是用进化的观点来研究人类心理机制的一种新思潮,是生物科学和认知科学的交叉学科。其从认知心理学吸取了知识加工的心理机制学说,用自然选择的原则来解释人类信息加工心理机制形成及其发展过程,将系统整体论的思想贯穿于心理学研究,建构了不同于传统心理学的理论范式,为心理科学提供了新的世界观图景和方法论原则。     

Trends in the assessment of infants and toddlers with disabilities.

Public Law 99-457 requires a multidisciplinary assessment and evaluation of children with disabilities in five domains: cognitive development, physical development, language and speech development, psychological development, and self-help skills; and this assessment must include information required in the Individualized Family Service Plan. A variety of assessment instruments are available, and some of the most notable are surveyed in this article. Traditional tests, as well as more current, naturalistic assessments, are reviewed. The author cautions against using one test for all purposes, or using a test that has an insufficient research base.
