[开场白] "文革"中没有劳动过的人(中青年)几乎没有,可是像我这样到一百多个行业劳动过的,大概也不多. 这段特殊的劳动经历是与我在"文革"中的特殊地位分不开的.什么"特殊地位"呢?简单地讲是两点:一、我没有入派.没入派的好处是两派都不把我往死里整,坏处是两派都不会亲我,保我.二、我的年龄决定我不可能是叛徒、特务、走资派,连个芝麻大的疑点也没有.因此,我公开声称:一、我不是"党内走资本主义道路的当权派",我是"党'外'走'社会主义'道路的'无'权派".二、对我"不可不用,不可重用".不可不用,是因为我不是"三种人";不可重用,是因为两派都不亲我.再加上,我的处世哲学是:对两派保持距离,对两派中的个人没距离.因此,我人缘比较好.     

More Than a Number: Unexpected Benefits of Return on Investment Analysis

In 2010–2011, University of Colorado (CU) librarians implemented a multi-campus pilot study to measure the institutional value of library resources used by faculty in their research. The study incorporated quantitative methods including return on investment (ROI), cost benefit analysis (CBA), and citation analysis of journal articles published by faculty; and qualitative methodologies such as in-person interviews with faculty. The study resulted in a CU ROI model that can be used to measure faculty perceptions of value and the economic benefits of electronic journal collections for faculty research in terms of ROI. The CU ROI methodology provides outcomes beyond a single ROI number and led to unexpected benefits for informing collection development decisions and strategies.     

Why Your Academic Library Needs a Popular Reading Collection Now More Than Ever

This article reviews the literature concerning the use and perception of podcasts as an information resource within higher education and libraries. Three types of podcasts are defined: institutional podcasts, episodic podcasts, and audiobooks. All podcasts share common issues concerning discovery and access and digital curation. The authors suggest that podcasts should be included in academic library collections, as research has shown that podcasts are becoming a trusted information resource.

文章回顾了作者28来研究传媒经济的经验,梳理了作者传媒经济理论的形成过程,即1979年从经济学的角度去研究广播电视,到1992年后由单一的经济学研究转向应用传播学研究,以及2003年构筑应用传播学完整体系,指出传媒经济的学科性质是应用传播中的一门新兴学科,只有从应用传播的角度,才能科学地回答和解决媒介活动中的各种问题.

Serving a hospital-based educational program such as the School of Enterostomal Therapy (E.T.) provides the opportunity to teach library skills and expand library services to meet the needs of a growing specialty. This article includes: a synopsis of the E.T. educational program, a history of the specialty, and an explanation of the separate library services provided to students and faculty. Search strategy developed to more easily access literature pertinent to the E.T. nurse is described and examples given.

作为一家地方小型出版社,崇文书局在精品出版方面取得了不少成绩.本文认为,这主要取决于三个方面的原因:(1)要从企业存亡兴废的战略高度来重视精品出版;(2)精品出版必须作为"一把手工程"才更能抓出成绩;(3)抓精品出版需要远见、恒心与毅力,同时更需要方法与智慧.

The content of the information structure in Russia and its difficulties and problems are discussed. The features of individualization of expert and analyst work, as well as the weaknesses and disadvantages of the provision of qualimetric data are considered. Special attention is paid to the nanoindustry and nanomaterials program.     

Providing Off-Campus Bibliographic Instruction:

Increasing numbers of students seeking a college education choose to study close to home, utilizing satellite sites of distant educational institutions. They may never travel to the parent campus and never use the parent campus library. However, they require library services and need instruction in library use. The problem is: who will provide these services and where? This article focuses on the experiences of Genesee Community College (New York) students who receive their bibliographic instruction in the library of a near-by four-year college, the State University of New York (SUNY) College at Geneseo. Cooperation between librarians at both institutions ensures that the off-campus bibliographic instruction (BI) is consistent with the BI offered on the main campus. Communication between involved faculty and librarians assures BI sessions directly related to course work. The end result is more confident students with better library skills.     

Unbinding an Audience and a Speech: Dove's Answer to the Beauty/Authenticity Double Bind

Western culture puts women in a number of double binds. One of these is constituted by society's expectation that women attain a standard of beauty whose attainment requires much beauty work and its contrary expectation that women present a physically unembellished self. Because these expectations are so emphatically sanctioned, women should respond positively to a message promising to deliver them from this double bind. This article illustrates the power of that double bind and women's desire for release from it by examining a remarkably unexpected audience reaction to a public speech that only tangentially addressed this double bind. Along the way, it demonstrates that audiences are active participants in speech events (e.g., Atkinson, 1984 Atkinson , M. ( 1984 ). Our masters’ voices: Language and body language of politics .
