Alternatives to the Term Paper:

The inadequacies of the traditional term paper are well-known to reference and instruction librarians. Term papers often fail to develop appropriate and mature research habits in undergraduates. Unless carefully monitored by teaching faculty, students procrastinate, do not formulate appropriate search strategies, fail to think critically about library sources consulted, and, in some cases, engage in academic dishonesty. Librarians can offer teaching faculty alternative assignments to the traditional term paper, assignments that encourage better use of library materials, stimulate student interest, develop a more holistic perspective on the artificial divisions of academia, and perhaps most important, facilitate growth in critical thinking. Robert Ennis' critical thinking goals are offered as a foundation for planning alternative library assignments - goals that include such behaviors as focussing on an issue, analyzing arguments, asking clarifying questions, evaluating reliability of sources, and examining assumptions. Alternative library assignments should be designed with these overarching goals in mind, so that students are challenged to grow intellectually. Library assignments that encourage critical thinking will foster multiple perspectives on "real world" issues, increased awareness of the assumptions used by various academic disciplines, and a questioning, thoughtful attitude toward printed information. Librarians who develop such assignments will contribute greatly to the current movement to revitalize undergraduate education.

马克思主义新闻观名词

这里发表的是全国科学技术名词审定委员会新闻传播学名词审定分委员会组织的《新闻传播学名词》里一个较为特殊的部分,即“马克思主义新闻观名词”预公布稿初稿的第一部分(共120个“术语观点”名词).考虑到新闻传播学科的使用惯例,这部分名词容纳了一些句子,解释的文字多数超过了规定的60字,但守住了200字以内的底线.很多马克思主义新闻观名词来自马克思、恩格斯、列宁论著的中译文,为保证名词英译文的统一和权威,除个别名词,采用他们论著英文版全集的译文(少数马克思和恩格斯的论著是用英文写的).根据规定,对应英文首词为定冠词的一律删除.     

基于术语释义分析获取叙词表词间关系

[目的/意义] 从术语释义角度出发,探讨叙词表编制过程中词间关系的构建方法。[方法/过程] 叙词表的词间关系主要有等同关系、等级关系和相关关系三种。从术语释义角度出发,对术语释义模式进行分析,并提出基于术语释义分析获取等同关系、等级关系和相关关系的方法。最后,从术语的多义性和释义的可变性对该方法进行讨论。[结果/结论] 通过术语释义获取词间关系,能够使词间关系更符合逻辑,有利于叙词表进行语义控制。

Radiography of Paper

Abstract

Absorbent materials such as wood, paper and cotton stabilize the atmosphere of show-cases against the relative humidity changes caused by temperature variation and by exchange of air with the surroundings.

There are several exchange processes between the air in the case and the outside air: diffusion through porous COllstruction materials, air flow caused by temperature and pressure changes and airflow by convection in a show-case whose relative humidity differsfrom that of its environment. The air changes about once a day in show-cases made by conventional joinery techniques. The rate of exchange can be reduced to less than five volumes a year by sealing a show-case so that only one small hole is left for pressure equalization. A dust and sulphur dioxide filter can then be fitted to maintain a pure atmosphere within.

In heated rooms without air-conditioning the RH may fall dangerously low in winter. A static method of RH control for a show-case is described. This is a saturated solution of sodium bromide covered by a silicone rubber membrane.     

基于引用内容的论文影响力研究——以诺贝尔奖获得者论文为例

[目的/意义]论文被引频次只能反映论文的宏观影响力,无法揭示论文在他人研究中的具体作用和影响,因此,本文提出从引用内容的主题和功能两方面对论文的影响力进行分析。[方法/过程]以2014年诺贝尔生理学或医学奖获得者J.O'Keefe的高被引论文为实例,首先,采用文献计量学方法对引用内容主题进行分析;对其,影响范围及领域进行可视化分析;其次,从引用性质和功能角度,将引用内容分成正面引用、负面引用和中性引用;最后,将中性引用进一步划分为3类,分别是研究背景介绍、理论基础和实验基础。[结果/结论]结果表明,共词分析可以很好地表达论文影响的主题领域;引用内容的分类可以提供一篇论文被引用的多方面原因。在本实验中没有负面引用,多于10%的引用为正面引用,大约50%的中性引用都是作者在研究背景章节中介绍与施引文献相关的研究工作。
