[目的/意义]将社交媒体应用于高校图书馆虚拟学习共享空间,探索其助力虚拟学习共享空间快速发展的有效途径,以践行图书馆服务由"以信息资源为中心"向"以学生学习为中心"的转变。[方法/过程]设计以QQ、微信等大学生喜爱善用的在线交流媒体为工具,以"学生服务团队"、主题驱动、多方协同、用户评价等为要素,构建、组织、管理虚拟学习共享空间的机制,并将这种机制应用于一个以"汽车"为主题的虚拟学习共享空间进行了实践研究。[结果/结论]实证研究和用户评价表明,以社交媒体作为工具构建高校图书馆虚拟学习共享空间,适合当下大学生个性化学习的需求;优化"学生服务团队"是其有效运行的关键因素;主题驱动和多方协同提升了其吸引力及其内涵,大学生学习成效显著,参与踊跃。  相似文献

Academic libraries have always strived to be purposively involved in the university's mission attainment efforts. Today, the increase of retention levels is paramount, and, in many cases, it is at the center of higher education institution's strategic plans. For Andrews University, for example, the goal is to reach 80% in the next five years. In the United States, student retention efforts become even more critical due, in part, to declining enrollment numbers set off by soaring higher education costs. Academic librarians are aware of the library's role in the university's overall efforts to increase persistence rates and curtail attrition. Through a literature review, this article highlights how academic libraries are participating in this process. This study focuses on how academic libraries can be leaders in their Institutions by adopting a user-centered philosophy and services that will promote life-long learning, enhance students’ academic experience, and promote engagement, leading to retention.  相似文献

[目的/意义] 调查和分析英国高校图书馆学科服务的内容、组织结构、教学和培训的主要方式、技术手段和反馈模式,发掘其对国内学科服务的参考价值。[方法/过程] 利用Qualtrics网上调查平台,对英国高校图书馆的学科服务内容、组织架构、教学和培训的方式、新技术和反馈手段等进行调查,收到来自英国50所高校图书馆的58份有效问卷,并利用Qualtrics和SPSS对数据进行分析。[结果/结论] 英国高校图书馆的学科服务内容由传统的馆藏资源建设、学科联系、信息素养培训逐渐外延,面向用户提供多项科研支持服务。功能性组织架构成为英国高校图书学科服务的主流结构,但基于学科的服务模式依然占有一席之地,部分图书馆采用二元结构,兼顾功能角色和学科角色。通识教学和嵌入式教学相结合已成为英国高校图书馆教学和培训的主流方式,新技术在英国高校图书馆教学和培训中应用广泛,教学和培训的反馈方式多样化。  相似文献

The focus of this study is to investigate the perception of librarians towards user privacy in libraries. This study measures the change in perception after providing education related to the privacy of library users. The change in perception regarding privacy issues in libraries in the past 5 years by comparing its results with those of a 2013 study was also examined. The results show that librarians' level of interest and awareness of the privacy of library users in 2019 is significantly higher than that of 2013; awareness of the danger in collection of user data increased significantly after education; and finally, after education, there was greater receptivity to the education courses and willingness to recommend them to their colleagues. In order to increase awareness of privacy violations and for greater protection of library user privacy libraries and professional associations must strive to provide standardized and regular privacy education for librarians and library staff.  相似文献

针对国内外新一轮关于图书馆消亡的讨论,结合笔者的微博调查,从达尔文“适者生存”的理论,阐述图书馆,特别是研究图书馆面对的挑战与应对策略。主张以理性的思维看待图书馆的生存问题,客观地认知环境的变化,直面图书馆转型变革的挑战,积极地树立自身的忧患意识,进一步增强职业的危机感,前瞻性地洞察发展趋势,能动地增强适变能力。提出必须通过确立融入数字化战略、嵌入教学科研过程、提供移动服务、创新学科服务,重新定义图书馆的发展战略,重新确立图书馆的职业特征,将知识管理与知识服务置于图书馆的核心业务,构建真正的以用户为中心的业务模式与管理机制,重构适应数字环境的新型图书馆范式。  相似文献

A survey of professional leadership of library and information organizations in Malaysia was conducted to gather their perceptions about the trends in the field during the next 10 years, the extent of preparedness of entry-level professionals and the strategies they proposed for an improvement in education and development programmes. A total of 148 top- and middle-managers from 30 organizations, equally divided among the three strata of academic, public and special libraries, were interviewed for filling in an open-ended questionnaire. A qualitative analysis of the responses revealed that the participants strongly felt that future libraries would be electronically inter-connected, would have a variety of media to access and would undergo organizational changes. They noted major discrepancies in the demands and preparedness of the entry-level professional in the areas of information technology, management capabilities and behavioural dimensions. A number of measures were proposed for improvement in formal education, continuing education activities and the role of the professional association.  相似文献

Abstract

The National Curriculum for England and Wales, implemented following the 1988 Education Reform Act, has had a profound impact on learning resource needs in schools. Whereas in many other countries the centralization of decision making over the content and delivery, of the curriculum is well established, the education system in the U.K. has, until recently, been characterized by fragmentation and a lack of central political direction. Teachers and librarians in the U.K. had previously worked within a culture which allowed considerable autonomy, with school library services provided by the local education authority as an additional resource for schools. School librarians are now being faced with the need to provide for a centrally directed curriculum, and to support specific information skills teaching in schools, increasingly without the support of a school library service, the service provided by public libraries as agents of the local education authority, to supplement libraries within schools. The use of information technology, has also become more significant.

A British Library funded project, undertaken at Loughborough University's Department of Information and Library, Studies, has investigated the ways in which English secondary, school libraries are meeting these new challenges as the U.K. education system undergoes profound cultural and organizational change. The management of change within school libraries was a major task, and it was here that strategies for planning mirrored those being undertaken in the schools as a whole. Applying the principles of school development planning to the library emerged as a major feature of effective school libraries.  相似文献

By the end of the twentieth century higher education libraries across the United Kingdom were struggling to find room for their ever expanding collections. In 2007 the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) provided funding for the establishment of United Kingdom Research Reserve (UKRR) Phase One—a partnership between six university libraries and the British Library (BL). This project initiated a systematic approach to the deduplication of low use research material which was also already available in robust electronic form.

Following the success of Phase One HEFCE has now made a grant of nearly £10m for Phase Two—a much more ambitious scheme open to all HE libraries working in partnership with the BL. This radical new approach to collection development represents the beginning of an important cultural change. It will see the replacement of the “just in case” model of information provision for UK researchers with a “just in time” model to release valuable space while safeguarding the national research information infrastructure.  相似文献
