调查了山西医科大学及附属第一、第二医院用户对移动图书馆的使用情况,分析了用户对移动图书馆服务的需求及影响其使用移动图书馆的因素,提出了完善移动图书馆建设的策略。     

PAIR: a cooperative effort to meet informational needs

St. Joseph Mercy Hospital organized a cooperative association of area institutions (the Pontiac Area Instructional Resources group: PAIR) in order to (1) promote a forum in which to exchange ideas and information on software used for learning materials and hardware for using such materials, (2) provide a resource library system to lend such learning materials, and (3) cooperatively produce such learning materials for use in member institutions. In less than one year of cooperation, a union list of serials and a union list of software for the area have been produced. A forum has been created in which ideas and information can be shared, and a sound/slide program has been produced.     

应对读者需求调整信息服务策略

文章根据2007年河北政法职业学院和河北铁路职业技术学院两所学校读者问卷调查数据,分析了当前高校图书馆用户在信息需求服务上具有对图书馆依赖性强、阅读兴趣广泛,但获取信息的意识和能力有待提高等特点,提出了加强高职图书馆文献信息资源建设,做好实体和数字文献载体的管理工作,大力开展读者培训教育,强化文献信息宣传导读以及实施传统和虚拟并重的参考咨询服务模式策略。     

Improving textbooks and teachers’ editions to meet the needs of diverse students

This article summarizes research findings on instructional strategies and textbook features that benefit diverse students. It then reports the conduct and findings of a study in which educators, researchers, and publishers collaborated to improve the usability of textbooks. Jean Ciborowski was the director of the project “Improving Textbook Usability.” She currently directs the educational services in the school function clinics at Boston Children’s Hospital. Mary Antes has served on a variety of curriculum development and educational projects at Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC), and was project assistant on the textbook project. Judith Zorfass, technical monitor of the project, is currently directing two federally funded research projects at EDC. One studies the integration of technology into the curriculum for handicapped adolescents and the other investigates reading development in language disordered students. Nancy Ames is director of EDC’s Center for Family, School, and Community, and helped in the initial design of the textbook project on which this article is based.

The interuniversity mechanism of control over the process of book supply to universities of culture is descried based on the Book Supply Database.

A user survey and a series of faculty interviews are discussed as methods that can be used by a public relations librarian to change library policies and services in the direction of patrons' needs.

An analysis of transaction logs to evaluate the educational needs of end users

End users at the University of Southern California (USC) have free access to the last ten years of MEDLINE through a local online system known as USCInfo. Librarians at USC Norris Medical Library provide documentation and offer formal and informal training on the use of the system to search MEDLINE. To assess the educational needs of the end users, 643 searches were analyzed. Although a high proportion (84%) of the searches were judged to be successful, the use of medical subject headings (MeSH) to obtain optimal results was low; only 20% of all successful subject searches employed MeSH. Also, the advanced features of the system were underutilized. While it is promising to learn that many end users are obtaining positive results, methods which will encourage end users improve their retrievals need to be developed.

This article provides an overview of what is happening and makes some suggestions for organising support services for e-learning.

Creating the library itself: collection, staff, and space

It is stressed that many points must be settled between the librarian and the planners. Relationships between the library and the medical school and the university library should be made clear. The librarian must be intimately involved with the architect, with the selection of faculty, and with the planning of curriculum. Consideration is given to problems of collection building in the areas overlapping with other institutions and of journal collections. Cataloging is considered, and the need to develop accounting procedures.

柔性管理作为一种以人为本的管理，已成为适应时代发展的科学管理模式。图书馆为了实现人本管理的理念，需要在组织结构、组织管理、读服务、用人机制、激励机制等方面进行“柔性”化改革。     

A survey of users and non-users of a UK teaching hospital library and information service

BACKGROUND: The Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust was formed in 2002 with the merger of two existing trusts. The library services unified to create a new expanded service with 11 staff. OBJECTIVES: The librarians wanted to test out users' opinions of the service, as a basis for a developmental strategy. They also wanted to find out to what extent they were offering a multi-disciplinary service, available to all staff. Therefore it was decided to include both users and non-users in the survey. METHODS: A twenty-question questionnaire was sent out to a 10% sample of registered users in all staff categories. The same questionnaire was sent out to a 10% sample of non-users, with the help of the Human Resources Department. RESULTS: The library staff and facilities were generally well regarded. The stock needed expansion in various areas, especially allied health and biomedical science. Non-users were in fact often occasional or remote users. Other non-users needed informing that they were entitled to use the service. CONCLUSIONS: Further research is required, especially concerning the information needs of allied health and scientific staff. There is a need for stock expansion. A marketing strategy is required to capture the interest of potential users.
