The scientific heritage of Portuguese secondary schools: a historical approach

Portuguese schools hold important collections, most organised in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. This scientific heritage, however, is still to be discovered. This article focuses on the creation, development, and role of natural history collections in Portuguese secondary schools, between the second half of the nineteenth century and the early twentieth century, that is, before and after the introduction of laboratory-based teaching in science education. Material culture is thus used to expand the current narrative of science teaching in Portugal, by tracking these kinds of collections. Contrary to the current view on science teaching in Portuguese secondary education, in this article I argue that by focusing on collections, and more generally on the material culture of secondary schools, a new picture emerges that contradicts the traditional discourse emphasising the scarcity of appropriate school buildings, infrastructure, and equipment. A brief overview of the current state of Portuguese natural history teaching collections is also provided, drawing attention to their vulnerability, given the absence of a general policy or guidelines orienting its conservation.     

浅论高校校园文化中的课外科技活动——以学科竞赛为例

学科竞赛等大学生课外科技活动作为第一课堂的重要补充和延续,能够充分调动学生的学习主动性、积极性,培养科技意识和团队意识,是校园文化的重要组成部分。但由于种种原因,校园科技文化活动在整个校园文化活动中却没有得到应有的重视。对此必须要提高认识、加强指导,充分发挥学生社团作用,建立学科竞赛保障体系,这样才能充分发挥课外科技活动在高校教育和管理工作中的重要作用。     

试论中国科学教育的发展路径——基于科学文化视角

科学文化是科学教育的灵魂,当代中国的科学教育必须确立传承科学文化的基本价值取向。为此,就要丰富科学教育的科学文化内涵,开展科学文化素质教育,以传递科学的理性和实证精神,凸显科学的人文价值,强调科学的怀疑和批判精神。开展科学文化素质教育的基本途径是构建基于科学文化的科学教育体系,即重新定位科学教育目标,追求多元化的科学文化素养;丰富科学课程的科学文化内涵,构建融入式HPS课程体系;提升课堂教学的科学文化品位,注重建构与对话的学习方式。     

大学生体育与健康教育的文化困惑

在教学过程中看到大学生体育与健康教育经常不被学生所重视,笔者从传统文化入手来考察影响大学生体育与健康教育的文化障碍。笔者认为在高等院校的体育与健康课程教学过程中讲授传统儒文化的健身思想时,难以运用实证论的方法讲出令学生信服的内容,在介绍中国传统道家养生文化时又缺少具有说服力的理论支持。而传统意识和文化在很大程度上还控制着大学生的体育与健康行为。这种由现代文化和传统文化的碰撞而产生的尴尬必然影响学校体育与健康教育的效果。     

文化视域下的汉字教学观

汉字教学既是我国语文教育,也是整个科学文化教育的基石,在基础教育中占有重要的位置。汉字是记录语言的符号,同时也具有一定的构形理据,蕴含着丰富的历史文化信息,利用汉字的文化属性进行汉字教学既有利于提高汉字教学的效果和质量,也能提高汉字教学的文化底蕴,培养学生的文化意识和文化认同感。构建一个系统合理的汉字文化教学观指导汉字教学实践,使汉字教学更加适应学生和社会发展的需要就显得非常重要。     

Historying Tragedy through an Object of Empathy: Hon Xuan’s Violin

Objects with difficult histories present profound opportunities for learning and teaching alike because of their authenticity, relatability and quite often their ability to inspire empathy. The following article constructs a multivalenced account of a student’s vandalised violin by utilising a narrative framework to layer various perspectives into an educational history. Recent theory in historiography, oral history and material culture will help to navigate the ethics of telling sensitive and difficult stories from the past. The version of history I present positions the student’s violin as the central character in the lives of its caretakers. As a result, we see the instrument not a as static object, but as a piece of material culture in a constant state of becoming. This article offers its readers an opportunity to reflect on the meaning we give to classroom objects, the agency these objects possess, and the necessity to pursue new ways to teach empathy.

英语翻译教学不仅是语言知识的教学,也是文化知识的教学,教师必须把文化背景知识的传授和文化素养的习得贯穿于整个英语翻译教学过程。文化摄取的内容有以下几点:按词的文化史涵义翻译,使学生掌握词语的背景知识;引导学生了解各民族文化的内涵,采用"借义法"翻译,以丰富本民族文化;让学生注重文化赋予词汇的附加意义,避免词汇链错位现象;教给学生运用"意译法"及"加注法",以增进对文化的理解。

高职数学教学中数学文化的融入探索与实践

文章借鉴了一些本科院校开设数学文化课的经验,结合高职院校的实际情况,提出了在开设高职数学课的同时进行数学文化的融入,以及如何在高职数学教学中寻找数学文化的融入点,结合具体实例探索如何挖掘若干数学题材中的文化意义,并将其融入到高职数学教学中去,把传授数学知识和揭示数学文化相结合,从而提升学生的人文素养和创新精神。

Prevalence and predictors of out‐of‐field teaching in the first five years

Many new science teachers are assigned to teach subjects in which they have not been prepared, a practice referred to as out‐of‐field (OOF) teaching. Teaching OOF has been shown to negatively influence instruction and constrain teachers’ development. In this study, we explored the extent to which new secondary science teachers were assigned OOF across their first 5 years. Analysis of this longitudinal data set indicated that these assignments were common. While new science teachers were assigned to teach a variety of subjects over their first 5 years of teaching, they were not assigned more or fewer OOF courses over time. Furthermore, results indicated that teachers in certain situations are more likely than others to be assigned to teach OOF. Even with federal legislation in the United States seeking to eliminate OOF teaching, a large portion of new secondary science teachers are assigned to teach science disciplines for which they are inadequately prepared. Based on the findings of this study, it is worth exploring policy avenues that eliminate OOF teaching. Policymakers, administrators, and teacher educators should seek to provide supports, such as science‐specific induction programs designed for new teachers who are assigned OOF, and science teacher educators should prepare prospective teachers to teach multiple science disciplines. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 在英语教学中不仅要传授语言知识,更重要的是要培养学生的跨文化交际能力。以避免交往中的文化冲突。     

大学英语教学中的文化输入

大学英语教学的目标之一是提高学生的综合文化素养、传授学生国际文化知识。大学英语教师在进行语言教学的同时,要提高文化输入的意识,在教学环节和教学手段等方面对学生进行文化知识的渗透。     

英语教学中的文化融入

中西文化存在着极大的差异，教学中不注重文化的融入，就不可能从真正意义上教好英语，学生也就谈不上学好并用好英语。     

澳门大学教育专业课程中的传统文化教学

澳门大学教育学院担负着培养澳门中小幼教师的重要责任,但在其课程设置中,传统文化教学的课程少,师资错配,部分教师爱国与教学热情不高,教学模式机械化,教学内容滞后不前。为此尝试开设"诗词曲赏析与教学""《论》《孟》与教育"两门课,融入国学知识,培养、提高学生对传统文化的认识、培养学生的爱国情怀。在教学互动中,其学习成效较为理想。建议在大学教学框架下增设传统文化课程,鞭策教师负起正面、积极传授的责任,加强师资队员建设,提升国学师资力量。教师应把传统教育与现代教育相融合,运用现代教育方法,讲授国学知识,建立文化自信,培养爱国主义情怀。
