Alternative press promotion and distribution: A telephone survey of literary publishers

Conclusion One of the most obvious conclusions the survey results point to is that the presses questioned are more similar than different. Differences are mainly in degrees of sophistication, no technique. The larger presses are able to orchestrate the various elements of promotion and distribution more completely than the smaller ones, which do not have the resources to do everything, and tend to focus on a limited number of areas. One press may not do much advertising, preferring to concentrate on direct mailings; another may put a lot of energy into promotion to libraries, and not into selling foreign rights. Not surprisingly, cash flow and distribution were named the biggest problems facing the presses surveyed; another major obstacle was lack of time. One might think that sufficient sums of money could solve all these problems, but even the commercial presses with their comparatively vast resources haven’t been able to come up with a way to sell literature. The most noteworthy point about this survey is the willingness of the presses to participate and to talk about promotion, marketing and distribution. This shows they are practical as well as idealistic. Though they are editorially driven, presses that want to continue to publish the books they love knew they have to master thebusiness of publishing to survive. Measures of greatness: A Lotkaian approach to literary authors using OCLC WorldCat

This study examines the productivity, eminence, and impact of literary authors using Lotka's law, a bibliometric approach developed for studying the published output of scientists. Data on literary authors were drawn from two recent surveys that identified and ranked authors who had made the greatest contributions to world literature. Data on the number of records of works by and about selected authors were drawn from OCLC WorldCat in 2007 and 2014. Findings show that the distribution of literary authors followed a pattern consistent with Lotka's law and show that these studies enable one to empirically test subjective rankings of eminent authors. Future examination of distribution of author productivity might include studies based on language, location, and culture.

一种基于P2P的云存储模型研究

在分析当前云存储系统所面临的问题的基础上,提出一种基于P2P技术的云存储模型。此模型应用Chord算法来组织节点并分发用户的请求,解决集中式云存储系统的中心节点瓶颈问题,实现系统的负载均衡;使用存储簇来完成数据的存储和管理,简化系统管理的难度;并提出模型的副本管理策略,使云存储系统具有良好的可扩展性、容错性和高性能。     

LISA中关于p2p技术的文献定量分析

以1969-2006年间LISA数据库收录的关于p2p (对等网) 的文献为研究对象,运用文献计量学方法,分别进行载文分析、著者分析、期刊分析和主题分析。基于这些分析,结合p2p产生的历史和发展的现状,提出在该领域研究的核心地区、核心作者和核心期刊,指出目前的研究重点,进而探讨未来该领域研究的发展方向,以期对国内的p2p研究提供借鉴。
