This article describes perspective and imagery thinking strategies taught during Guided Reading lessons. These strategies are designed to enhance comprehension by giving students techniques for manipulating meaning. Social and physical perspective thinking strategies allow students to identify and apply a variety of perspectives, while imagery thinking strategies allow students to re‐view meaning through the application of still, moving and melting images. Comment from teachers and students involved in a project designed to trial these strategies indicate they may be one way of raising standards in English. 相似文献

Abstract How many students with epilepsy need help in basic skills, and if so, how much? This paper looks at communicating with those outside the school who are concerned with the student, those within the school, and with the most underrated resource ‐ the student himself/herself. However helpful these resources are, the teacher has to cope alone at least some of the time. Most students with epilepsy who are in mainstream classes also cope alone. Regarding academic learning, some students have to cope with the effects of epilepsy and/or medication on alertness, on the processing of information, on attention and memory, and on distractibility. The resulting teaching strategies are similar to those applying to students without epilepsy, whether of greater or less ability. 相似文献

This paper looks at the origins of the international journal Educational Studies in Mathematics (ESM) in 1968 and traces its later development as it responded to changes in mathematics education. The paper first examines,
in chronological order, the contributions of its editors in defining its spirit, policy and procedures, as they directed its
growth and its transformation into a leading journal of research in mathematics education. The paper then presents a statistical
profile of ESM articles by content area, educational issue, level of schooling and research method, and goes on to look more
closely at the special issues of ESM, each dedicated to a single topic, and how they reflect the changing concerns of mathematics educators.
