Involving History Students

Abstract

This article discusses the use of text messaging as an effective way for faculty to communicate with students in between class meetings or within an online course. The benefits of text messaging will be discussed, as well as the tools one faculty member has used when texting students or groups of students. Text messaging can be used to give student “nudges” to increase the likelihood students will act in accordance with what the faculty member expects (i.e., read textbook prior to class, attend tutoring sessions, submit homework on time). It can also be used to streamline group work.

高职课堂上教师对学生的评价对于学生的学习兴趣产生了极大的影响。本文从认知心理学的角度出发,分析了高职学生的学习背景,并通过实际的教学经历探讨了怎样进行高职课堂教学评价。     

构建教育性的评价过程—试论研究性学习的学生评价问题

研究性学习课程评价应追求教育性。学生评价是课程评价的基点。目前研究性学习评价的教育性主要通过寻求富有教育性的评价结果来实现，而忽视了评价本身所具有的教育意义。设计一个不仅能得出教育性评价结果，而且能使评价活动本身对学生具有最大限度的教育意义的评价程序是十分必要的。     

Developmental Students: The Challenge of Peer Relationships

Despite increased program offerings at many community colleges, the retention and success of developmental students are often extremely low. Research has indicated that a complex set of challenges complicates developmental student success, but students' experiences with these variables are not well understood. In this paper, I report findings from a qualitative study that was conducted at a community college in New York City to explore the ways in which developmental students describe and understand their experiences with education. Findings indicated that students viewed their decision to attend college as a separation from high school peers whom they associated with academic failure; they continued to differentiate themselves from their peers when they entered college and were wary of developing college friendships because they viewed peers as a hindrance to educational success. However, relationships with like-minded college peers might prove to be a necessary source of support that is essential to their retention and success. These results indicate that students may need great assistance to develop the peer support networks that could assist them in pursuit of their educational goals. I offer recommendations for future research as well as specific suggestions to address developmental students' possible resistance to peer interaction including tutoring and learning community designs and collaborative/cooperative learning approaches.     

Preparing Students for the Honours Challenge

Abstract

This article examines the growth of an element of compulsion in UK adult vocational training. It traces a change from learner‐centred approaches in adult education in the nineteen‐sixties and early nineteen‐seventies, to the more employer‐focused ideas promoted by a state dominated and financed system.

It explores the rationale behind the compulsion of adults on to training schemes, but questions the morality and validity of these arguments on the grounds that they will prove counter‐productive to the intellectual developments of the adults concerned in the long term.     

Involving Students in Natural Resource Decision-Making Groups

Ensuring a qualified teacher in every classroom is a central part of the latest agenda to strengthen public education and maximize student achievement. Effective teaching and delivering quality instruction are lifelong and critical goals of professional development of teachers. High-quality induction programs support qualified teachers for every child. We evaluated perceptions of beginning teachers relative to the effectiveness of induction activities, assistance, and support provided within their school districts. Overall, this group indicated that induction programs were sufficient for them to succeed during the first years of teaching. Implications for improving practice and recommendations for continuing research are discussed in this article.

粗糙集层次分析法在学生综合评价中的应用

在对学生成绩综合评价中引入粗糙集理论和层次分析理论.利用粗糙集理论特有的属性约简和属性重要度原理能对有限的指标数据进行有效挖掘,具有客观性;而层次分析理论则从主观上进行补充,两种方法的结合能优化综合评价过程.通过实例分析,证实了该方法的可行性和有效性.     

基于三角模糊数的层次分析法在大学生综合素质评价中的应用

根据当前社会对人才提出的新要求,在咨询专家和实际调研的基础上,以科学性、导向性、全面性、层次性、个性化以及可操作性为原则,构建了大学生综合素质评价指标体系.针对大学生综合素质评价指标多为定性指标的特点,将基于三角模糊数的层次分析法引入大学生综合素质评价中,并对影响大学生综合素质的11个因素的重要性进行排序,进而利用模糊综合评判方法建立大学生综合素质评价模型.结果表明,该模型能够很好地反映大当前大学生的综合素质.     

大学工科学生实验的过程评价模式研究

文章分析了当前大学工科学生实验评价系统存在的公平性,交互性、时效性等问题,提出了一种基于过程评价的学生实验评价新模式。该模式强调实验的全过程评价,体现了计算机辅助实验的特色和"以学生为本"的理念。文中同时介绍了该模式在电信和通信专业大三的"通信原理"实验中进行的实践及效果。

以德育成绩、智育成绩、体育成绩为例,构建数学模型;通过模型求解对某学生是否优秀作一公平公正的评定.     

层次分析法在高职学生工作评估中的应用

建立数学模型、确定权系数及对权系数进行科学性检验,是层次分析法的核心内容。应用层次分析法构建高职学生工作评估的指标体系,能提高评估工作的科学性和合理性,促进高职学生工作的改革与发展。     

越南人学习汉语的中介语表现

文章根据Selinker所提出中介语运作的5个程序,描写越南人学习汉语的中介语表现。具体分析了越南学习者由于母语负迁移、对汉语规则的过度概括化、语言训练的转移等因素所生成的语法偏误。通过分析学习者的汉语学习策略和汉语交际策略发现汉越词能帮助越南学习者产生正迁移的同时也会造成负迁移。文章还通过个案分析证明了Selinker所提出的二语学习策略和二语交际策略的不同类型确实一直被学习者所使用。
