This article intentionally proposes the use of anticolonial Xicana feminisms as a theoretical foundation for Spanish–English bilingual teacher preparation programs that serve a majority of Latinx aspiring teachers. An anticolonial Xicana feminist framework is imperative in order to prepare bilingual teachers to confront and counter the growing neoliberal ideologies that are co-opting the goals of bilingual/dual language education today and that run the risk of further marginalizing Latinx language minoritized students, particularly in rapidly gentrifying urban communities and regions experiencing a recent Latinx population boom. The article analyzes the theoretical and pedagogical processes that would help prospective teachers challenge the legacies of colonization, imperialism, and Eurocentric heteropatriarchy in order to forge an anticolonial path in bilingual education in four interrelated areas: vision, identities, languages, and pedagogies.  相似文献

教师评价是我国新时代教育评价改革的重要组成部分.当前教师评价普遍存在目的缺失、不当或模糊,目的与手段不匹配,以及结果运用存在明显偏差等问题.基于教学的专业属性,教师评价本质上是对教师的专业实践进行评价,属于实践评价范畴.教师的专业实践不仅是在实践中发展自我,更是为学生的学习和发展提供专门性服务.教学的本质是"学为中心"的育人专业实践,"学为中心"是构建新型教师评价的逻辑起点.因此,教师评价的根本目的在于促进学生的学习与发展.教师评价的内容要紧紧围绕"学为中心"的教学实践与专业贡献,且需要强调对教师同伴合作的评价,引导和支持教师协同育人."学为中心"的教师评价需要运用表现性评价收集并分析相关证据,基于证据引导教师提升"教书育人"的专业实践能力.只有以学为中心,全面聚焦于促进学生的学习与发展,教师评价才能为教师创造静心育人、潜心育人的良好环境.  相似文献

Abstract

Teachers’ autonomy contributes to their development and retention decisions. While proficient teachers would benefit from more autonomy, developing teachers often require more structure and guidance. This article reviews the literature surrounding autonomy and proposes an argument for a Graduated Teacher Autonomy framework: a theoretical tool matching teacher proficiency to autonomy. This dynamic framework has the potential to support the needs of all teachers and could improve teacher satisfaction, retention, development, and administrator–teacher relations.  相似文献

This article examines the potential of critical teacher inquiry groups to promote urban teacher retention, professional support and development. While much has been written in recent years about teacher inquiry, generally, little attention has been paid to professional development programs that highlight a critical analysis of urban schooling. Drawing on analysis of videos of group meetings, Email conversations with participants and informal interviews, this article concerns itself with a group of seven South Central Los Angeles elementary teachers that use critical inquiry to support each other in tackling multiple forms of inequality and oppression manifest in their classrooms, school and community. Brought together by a commitment to social justice, these teachers engage a set of shared readings in social and educational theory as the foundation for bi‐monthly meetings. The article concludes with recommendations for on‐going critical professional development models that support teachers as they confront the challenges of urban schools.  相似文献

This article describes the applicability of the statewide professional development model for higher education implemented by the Illinois IHE Partnership designed to support teacher educators in integrating the key principles of a multitiered system of supports (MTSS) in teacher-education program coursework and field experiences. The process included identifying technical assistance coordinators at each partner institution, facilitating faculty workgroups, providing ongoing coaching about the key principles of MTSS, and providing access to resources and sample materials that supported teacher educators’ integration of MTSS in teacher preparation. The critical elements of MTSS identified by the project staff included universal core instruction, evidence-based practices, problem-solving process, formal and informal assessment, data-based decision making, positive behavior interventions and supports, parent involvement and collaboration, and integrity of implementation. Implications and recommendations for other institutions of higher education that use a similar professional development process in teacher-preparation programs are discussed.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

We examine how teacher leaders (TLs), working in a low-income urban elementary school, supported their colleagues to learn how to collect quality formative data and to discuss it in collaborative conversations in order to make their students’ learning visible. The TLs faced challenges reflecting consequences resulting from the district’s high stakes accountability policies restricting teachers’ agency with instructional decision-making and limiting their definitions of data as summative test scores. We document how the TLs worked to reframe teachers’ understanding of data to include evidence of student thinking and supported their colleagues to reclaim teaching as professional versus technical work.  相似文献

Abstract

A questionnaire was sent to the presidents of 24 Texas community/junior colleges, 22 of whom responded (91.66%). The five parts of the instrument dealt with specific teacher preparation topics, internships and salaries for the interns, and the number of graduate hours of preparation one should have completed in a discipline in order to teach it.

The respondents endorsed several specific topics for preparation programs, and the majority also supported an internship program. Evidently, the subject matter and activities listed in the questionnaire constitute a workable part of a program to prepare community/junior college teachers. A minimum salary of $450 per month is recommended for an intern required to teach three sections of a specific discipline, and a higher salary is very desirable where possible.  相似文献

Abstract

This article focuses on a model for mentorship developed from the experiences of two nurse teachers as they took on the roles of mentor and student during a Post‐Graduate Certificate of Education course, in preparation for teaching student nurses within a college of nursing and midwifery. The dynamic nature of the relationship and the teachers’ experiences resulted In the development of a ‘model for mentorship’, which can be identified as a cyclic process, to be utilised in any student‐mentor relationship. The discussion revolves around the course structure, theories of mentorship, the development of the model itself, and finally, how the model was applied in practice. The course itself revolved around the achievement of competencies and the article explores how these were utilised as a primary learning tool. Abstract

This study introduces the scope and nature of teacher candidate (TC) supervision in an era of clinically-based teacher preparation. The findings emerged from a qualitative meta-analysis of 82 articles related to TC supervision published between 2001 and 2017. The study recognizes core supervision concepts drawn from decades of empirical literature yet moves the field substantially forward by identifying a framework that includes: (1) tasks, (2) high-leverage practices, and (3) pedagogical routines of supervisory practice. This framework defines a new understanding of how supervisors support TC learning throughout their clinical experiences. By naming the scope and nature of TC supervision, the framework of tasks, high-leverage practices, and pedagogical routines of supervisory practice can help supervisors become more conscious and more skilled about their practice to develop their professional vision of supervision. The framework can also guide the evaluation and re-design of TC supervision within clinically based teacher preparation.  相似文献
