英语教学中跨文化交际能力的培养

通讯技术的迅猛发展和经济的全球化,使得跨文化交际成为当代人们生活中不可或缺的一部分,因此越来越多的研究者开始关注英语学习者的跨文化交际能力。基于对文化与交际、语言与文化之间关系的系统分析,以及对跨文化交际的界定,探究了跨文化交际能力的培养策略。     

基于跨文化交际能力培养的案例教学研究

目前,借鉴管理学和MBA教学中的案例教学模式已成为商务英语专业核心课程跨文化商务交际发展的必然要求。文章在系统论述跨文化交际学和跨文化交际能力的基础之上,重点探讨了案例教学的流程,包括案例的选择、呈现、讨论、学生发言与教师总结等环节,并从案例编写与本土化、师生角色定位、时间把握等四方面提出了案例教学的保障条件。     

The implementation of an intercultural competence syllabus to prepare study-abroad students for global communication

This study presents the outcome of the implementation of a process-oriented model of an intercultural competence (IC) and English as a lingua franca (ELF)-awareness development syllabus to prepare government-sponsored Turkish international sojourners for global communication in English L1 countries. Based on social constructivist research methodology, both, qualitative and quantitative data were used in the study that came from three major sources. The qualitative data included field notes obtained from a class of 10 study-abroad English preparatory students and interviews conducted with the preparatory school administrators, and the quantitative data came from pre-tests and post-tests which demonstrated a considerable shift in the attitudes of the participants of the experimental group with a boost in their ELF awareness and intercultural sensitivity compared to their control group counterparts. The outcome of the study underlines the significance of IC and ELF awareness development during language preparatory programmes prior to sojourn.

Exploring intercultural competence through the lens of self-authorship

Intercultural competence among educators has long been recognised as important, especially in contexts characterised by growing and shifting cultural diversity such as Australia. However, the capacity to be interculturally competent has only recently been enshrined in teacher standards in Australia, and research into this field among early childhood educators is fledgling. Through the theoretical lens of self-authorship, this case study integrated a developmental model of intercultural maturity with a compositional model of intercultural competence. Combining these two models allowed for a holistic exploration of the complexities of intercultural experiences in an early childhood educational setting. This new integrated framework is applied to a case study that focuses on Heidi, an early childhood educator in a culturally diverse kindergarten. Data were collected through interviews, classroom observations and analysis of philosophy, policy and observational documents. The findings indicated the importance of critical reflection and internal meaning making, as part of a self-authored identity, in relation to intercultural competence. Implications are discussed with a focus on the potential significance of the integrated framework to explore as well as enhance educators’ critical reflection about their intercultural experiences.     

大学英语教学中跨文化交际能力的培养探讨

随着全球化经济与社会的深入发展,社会对人才的跨文化交流能力要求也越来越高,并被认为是英语学习者最主要的目的。本文从大学生英语跨文化交际能力的现状出发,分析了当前影响大学英语教学跨文化交际能力提高的原因所在,并在最后提出了一些建议。     

也议体态语在跨文化交际中的应用

人类交际是语言交际和非语言交际的结合。非语言交际是整个交际中不可缺少的组成部分。它在交际中的作用是不可忽视的。[1]萨莫瓦尔说:"在面对面交际中,信息的社交内容只有35%左右时语言行为,其他都是通过非语言行为传递的。"[2]在跨文化交际中,很多人往往重视语言的正确运用,而忽略非语言交际行为的文化差异及其影响,导致文化误解和文化冲突频频发生。实际上非语言交际行为和手段比语言交际行为所起的交际作用更大,它的差异比语言行为的差异所引起的文化冲突还要严重。根据毕继万在《跨文化非语言交际》中将非语言交际粗略地分成四大类:1)体态语;2)副语言;3)客体语;4)环境语,本文试从手势语、眼神交流、体触行为等方面研究体态语在跨文化交际中的应用,减少由此导致的文化差异的干扰,以促进人们之间成功地进行跨文化交际。     

建构主义理论指导下的跨文化交际能力培养策略

通过翻译实践课程中的教学案例,探讨了建构主义理论指导下的旨在提高大学生跨文化交际能力的教学实践模式的特点及该教学模式的应用,重点关注如何灵活运用多种教学手段从跨文化态度、知识、技能和意识四个维度提高学生的跨文化交际能力。     

公安英语培训中跨文化交际能力的培养

涉外警务人员,既要熟悉公安业务又要具备一定的外语水平,外事问题处理不慎重,可能引起外交纠纷。掌握外语是涉外警务的基础,如何在民警公安英语培训中提高涉外警务人员对外交往能力,是一个值得我们探讨的问题。警务英语中跨文化交际能力的培养应基于跨文化交际研究的几个方面:词汇研究、语用研究、非语言交际研究、交往习俗研究、价值观念研究和社会心理研究,并以此作为教学方法的依据。

Constructing culturally responsive professional development for inclusion in El Salvador using the lens of intercultural competence

This paper describes a collaborative technical assistance project, which was co-constructed by the Ministry of Education (MINED) of El Salvador and the author, to support the advancement of inclusive education through culturally responsive professional development. This research-based project is presented as a model of culturally responsive professional development using the lens of intercultural competence. The author describes each phase of the project through the lens of intercultural competence that includes: (a) initial planning, (b) content proposals, (c) content development, and (d) content delivery. Implications and future research questions for those engaging in culturally responsive professional development-based technical assistance work are provided.     

Model of blogging structure for intercultural communication environments in higher education

It is often observed that most international students are less likely to express their opinions in class. The lack of communicative engagement has negative impacts on students' academic performance. The objective of this article was to explore a range of possible explanations for international students' lack of engagement in class discussions and to seek a way to model how an e-tool could be applied to make international students more comfortable communicating. The present study viewed that those students' communication problems are induced by the following multiple factors: a sense of belonging to a minority, cultural difference, and communication apprehension. Blogs were thus suggested to enhance those students' communication contexts. An ideal model of blogging interactions between students and teachers was theoretically proposed.
