A developmental approach to the curriculum for young children takes into account the principle that what children should learn, and how they can best learn, changes with their age and the experience that comes with age. Several principles of practice emerge from this basic developmental principle. For example, as children grow older, what they learn changes from horizontal to greater vertical relevance. Similarly, the younger the learner, the more is learned through interactive and active processes rather than through passive and receptive processes. In addition, the younger the learner, the greater the urgency of helping them acquire basic social competence, which is very difficult to acquire later on. These developmental principles of practice imply that a curriculum for young children should include the opportunity to work in small groups on extended investigations of real phenomena in the children's own environments.  相似文献

This study illustrates the implementation of an attitude questionnaire and a knowledge test in the evaluation of a drama intervention aimed at the transmission of knowledge and change of attitudes about AIDS among Zulu‐speaking high school pupils. No significant changes in the existing, relatively positive, attitudes were indicated except in one important area relating to promiscuity. A substantial improvement in the knowledge of AIDS‐related facts was achieved. It is suggested that a qualitative approach should ideally forego a quantitative approach in order to identify the cultural context within which the project will be situated.  相似文献

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of creative drama-based instruction on seventh graders’ science achievements in the ecology and matter cycles unit and their attitudes toward science. The study is an experimental study carried out in one of the public elementary schools in Turkey during 2005–2006 schooling year. An ecological concept achievement test was developed and administered to 45 students in two classes (as control and experimental group) of an elementary school before and after the treatment. The experimental group received creative drama-based instruction and the control group received traditional instruction. A guiding instruction material which contains six lesson plans in the subject was constructed for the teacher to administer creative drama-based instruction. The topics of ecosystems and matter cycles were taught to the both of groups for 3 weeks. A science attitude test was administered to both groups before and after the treatment. The results revealed a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the both groups with respect to achievement in the ecology concepts and median of the attitudes toward science in favour of the experimental group after the treatment.  相似文献

Research on underachieving gifted students has uncovered a large number of characteristics differentiating gifted underachieving and achieving students. However, less is known about the way in which underachievement develops across schooling. Using a person-centered theoretical framework and key constructs from current motivational theories, we propose that there are multiple developmental trajectories in underachievement that arise from early school experiences. Two primary pathways are proposed: (a) a Maladaptive Competence Beliefs Pathway whereby underachievement results from the development of particular beliefs about giftedness and maladaptive coping behaviors, and (b) a Declining Value Beliefs Pathway in which underachievement develops from declining value beliefs and increasing perceptions of costs associated with academics. Avenues for future empirical research with these pathways are discussed.  相似文献

In this article we describe the Graduate Review and Improvement Process (GRIP), an innovative evaluation process that makes student input central, now beginning its fifth year of implementation at the University of Minnesota. We begin by contrasting GRIP with traditional graduate program review, and we then explain the conceptual underpinnings of action research and developmental evaluation. We next explain how the process began and evolved from 2011 to the present, including discussion of the perceived benefits that participants reported. The article concludes with four challenges to this process: resources, changing leadership, turnover, and faculty engagement.  相似文献

本对教育券这种教育财政资源配置的形式进行了实证描述,并结合教育经济学和制度经济学的相关理论进行规范分析,结论表明:教育券是将公平与效率融为一体的基础教育财政资源配置的有效方式;教育券把竞争机制巧妙地引入教育领域,深化了基础教育市场化的内涵。教育券是一种契约合同,明晰了基础教育财政经费的使用权(产权),降低了经费使用过程中的交易成本,提高了经费的使用效率。教育券是对基础教育财政资源配置的制度性创新,对基础教育的发展具有开拓性的现实意义。  相似文献
