Laptops in the Scottish Primary School: Interim Report

Abstract

The following paper should be seen as an addition to that provided in the Proceedings of the 7th ICTE.’ For reasons of brevity, it does not deal to any large extent with the background to the project, but details the progress of a study into the effects of introducing laptops into primary (elementary) school. The project has provided every pupil in one class with a laptop computer and has tracked the use being made of it as a curriculum tool for writing. The second phase of the project is under way, with a completion date of April 1991.

外语学习中的学习策略研究近年来得到了广泛关注,研究表明学习策略与外语学习有密切关系,学习策略的正确与否直接影响到学习者的学习效果.文章通过对学习策略的定义,分类,及其差异性的分析,指出了中国学生在外语学习过程中对学习策略的使用中存在的误区,强调了学习策略对外语学习的重要性以及对外语教学的启示.外语教师应在学习策略理论指导下,帮助学生克服错误的学习策略,培养成功的学习策略,提高外语学习效果.     

An Experimental Study of Functional Learning

The basic problem in correcting a multiple choice test is evaluating a subject’s true knowledge, eliminating the guessing factor. In this paper, we consider some scoring procedures which are functions of the performance of the entire group of examinees. Special cases of the scoring procedures considered here reduce to the ones proposed by Chernoff (2), and Calandra (1).     

An Assessment of the Relative Importance of Criminal Justice Learning Objectives

This study examines the relative importance of the different learning objectives for criminal justice education as identified by the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences (ACJS). Three different populations (students, faculty, and professionals) completed a survey exercise in which they were required to rank order hypothetical job applicants who varied in competency on each of the ACJS learning objectives. In addition, students completed the same exercise pre- and post-completion of their required internship to determine if experience in the field affected their responses. Conjoint analysis was used to identify the relative importance of different learning objectives. While results indicate some similarities in responses across all three populations, several interesting differences were observed, and these may have important curricular implications for criminal justice programs.     

学生自主语言学习方式的实证性研究

目前高校大学英语教学改革如火如茶,然而学生的学习依然较为被动.因此,构建自主参与型的英语教学模式显得至关重要.自主学习具有能动性、有效性和相对独立性的特点,但同时在教学管理、评价体系等方面还存在不少问题与不足.为此,笔者采用混元式教学法,运用科学的手段管理、后台监控及评价体系,对学生的自主学习进行监督和指导,并取得了一定的成效.

外语学习策略是影响外语学习成败的一个关键因素,目前越来越受到语言研究者和外语教师的重视。讨论语言善学者的共同特点、外语学习策略的定义和归类等目前存在极大争议的一些问题,评述国内外学习策略的研究现状。指出对学习策略的培训及其效果的研究是目前学习策略研究的重点。

从我国学校体育的目标出发,针对不同学段学生的成长特点,根据体育教学的规律性,在体育教学中适时、适量有侧重的选择合理的方法,科学地促进学生的身心发展。     

北京市中学生语文学习状况调查报告（上）

为了真实地了解北京市中学生语学习的现实状况，对北京市21所中学的1000名学生进行了问卷调查。调查结果表明：当前北京市中学生语学习的状况是不能令人满意的。从总体上看，学生学习兴趣下降，学习动机带有明显的功利性；多数学生没有掌握合理的学习方式，没有养成良好的学习习惯；学生的学习特点呈现矛盾性和被动性。     

复项主位结构的功能分析

Halhday从为，在英语的复项主位结构中不同的纯理功能成分的顺序通常呈“语篇‘人际’经验”的典型序列，其中经验成分总是处于复项主位的最后。主位延伸至句中的第一个经验成分。本文从系统功能语法的角度，根据语篇分析的实践，认为主位边界有扩大的需要．因此复项主位中不同的功能成分之间的序列呈多样化特征，其中经验成分必不可少，但各纯理功能成分的顺序并非固定不变。在复项主位结构的经典分析中．其典型序列为“语篇‘人际’经验”序列．同时存在着“语篇‘人际’经验”序列：根据主住边界扩展的观点，复项主住中还存在着“经验∧人际”和“经验∧语篇”等序列。     

Implementation and Evaluation of an Early Foreign Language Learning Project in Kindergarten

The purpose of present paper was twofold. Firstly, it aimed at outlining the rationale for and the process of introducing an English language learning intervention to kindergarten children in a playful and supportive environment. It focused on developing children’s oral skills through participating in creative child-appropriate activities and interacting in small groups. The intervention, extended in a period of an academic year, was coordinated in two phases; in the first, ‘warm-up’ phase, a visual approach was followed and in the second one, the basic phase of the intervention, 12 sessions of relevant topics were included, each one carried out in four steps. On the other hand, it aimed at investigating the degree to which ‘rule play’ could contribute to oral skills acquisition and vocabulary development. For this purpose, an effectiveness study was conducted which revealed the positive effects of the intervention on early foreign language learning.

An Experimental Study of Network-based Language Learning in Less-developed Areas

The advent of the Age of Information brings about bright prospects to Network-based Language Learning(NBLL).The thesis adopts the Engagement Theory as guided principles.The purpose is to use the novel NBLL model effectively with the help of modern technology especially in less-developed areas.This thesis focuses on network-based experimental study.The research shows that the students under NBLL environment have cultivated the capabilities in information collection,computer operation,and information evaluation,as well as the abilities in problem solving,reasoning with criticism,and cooperating with others.     

Incidental Learning in Foreign Language Learning

Abstract

Students in a college course were given written criteria, divided into teams, and asked to score their own essay examination. Their pooled ratings correlated .922 with the instructor's ratings. Agreement between the ratings of students and instructor was not related to grade point or total test score. However, grade point and test scores were related negatively to the ambiguity of the students’ answers on the examination. The results support the generalization that subjective scoring standards are readily communicable. Theoretical and practical implications are examined.
