面向知识服务与知识管理的现代图书馆及其信息系统

文章针对知识服务与知识管理给图书馆带来的革命性变化，从信息知识本身的管理，信息知识对其他生产要素与生产活动过程的渗透、协调与激活及其管理，信息知识对信息知识的渗透、协调与激活(即知识创新)及其管理等三个层面来讨论知识管理模式与知识管理系统以及现代图书馆的知识管理。论述了面向知识服务与知识管理的现代图书馆信息系统，重点分析现代图书馆的广义管理信息系统的体系结构和信息知识服务系统的发展进步与主要类型，提出了对外交流的电子馆务信息系统的基本概念并简述了它与电子商务系统、电子政务系统的关系，强调要重视现代图书馆信息系统的总体规划，把握好其广义管理信息系统、信息知识服务系统、电子馆务信息系统、信息控制系统等四大类系统及其子系统的明确分工与整体集成。     

基于统一信息的图书馆推拉服务分析

通过对图书馆推拉服务与统一信息系统的相关性、信息化应用基础和技术应用的分析,提出了图书馆推拉与统一信息服务的创新型系统架构和融合应用模式,建立交互式的统一信息与推拉服务融合的服务功能体系.     

利用医院信息系统(HIS)开展图书馆信息服务工作的探讨

文章从三个方面：医院信息系统及其作用、医院信息系统与图书馆信息服务工作的关系、医院图书馆利用HIS系统为医务人员服务的方法和内容，探讨医院图书馆工作人员如何利用医院信息系统（HIS）开展文献信息服务，以及拓展文献信息服务的手段和内容。

文章分析了元数据在图书馆信息资源管理系统应用中的必要性,将元数据引入到图书馆信息资源管理系统的设计中.对元数据的定义、作用及其在图书馆信息资源管理系统中资源描述、资源组织与管理和资源检索与服务中的应用进行了阐述.明确了系统设计原则和功能需求分析,提出了系统构建所要解决的关键技术及系统的总体架构.

针对公共图书馆集成管理系统的应用现状,提出基于SaaS的多租户建设模式。首先阐述基于SaaS的图书馆集成管理系统的可行性,分析基于云计算技术的OCLC和ALAM图书馆系统应用模型,提出基于SaaS的多租户图书馆集成管理系统体系架构与应用模型,重点阐述基于SaaS模型的图书馆信息系统的多租户数据共享模式、业务逻辑组合方法以及系统自动化部署等关键内容。

总结安徽省高等学校文献信息保障系统前期建设的经验及其中的不足,学习其他省市文献信息系统建设的经验,吸取各地、各系统在建设过程中得到的教训,提出新的措施,即:统一思想、统一认识,建立独立的文献网络,建设图书馆自动化集成管理系统,加强标准化建设,增强知识产权意识,加强队伍建设以及调动各高校图书馆的积极性,继续推进ALISA建设。     

Costing information services

Information centers are being established for many disciplines. For the medical profession, users can benefit directly from these centers by having information searched by medical library professionals and readily available. If the users of an information system are to share in the operating expenses, some equitable system of charges must be established. The numerous systems of establishing user charges are listed and discussed, with the advantages or disadvantages of each system explained. After the systems have been reviewed, alternative methods of establishing prices are presented along with a typical example of what these prices might be, ranging from $7.50 to $2.50 per request. The implementation of the cost system is outlined and certain philosophical questions are posed.     

National Federation of abstracting and information services member data services

The Federation has collected data on the number of unique items covered in our members’ printed publications and databases since 1957. In addition to indicating the productivity of NFAIS member organizations, these data, published annually by NFAIS, reveal trends in scientific communication, including political, economic, and social factors. Towards better information services: A framework for immigrant information needs and library services

Immigrants are among the populations in modern society that libraries are striving to serve. This study aims to develop a framework on immigrants, their information needs, and library services. Using a systematic literature review based on the grounded theory approach, 28 related articles were reviewed to identify the causes, characteristics, and the content of the information needs of immigrants. Also explored were the possible sources to satisfy these information needs and the barriers to accessing needed information. Findings indicate that personal social networks, the Internet, media sources, and institutions are the main information sources for immigrants; language, cultural differences, the digital divide, unfamiliar information systems, and psychological factors are the five major challenges for immigrants obtaining information. Based on the findings, a unified framework about immigrants, their information needs, sources to satisfy those needs, and library information services is, therefore, proposed. This framework may provide guidance for libraries and other information service agencies to better develop services and information systems for immigrants.     

Knowledge-based information management: implications for information services

The 1994 Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards for information management will change the way health care librarians respond to JCAHO accreditation surveys and may affect the way libraries are managed. This article will highlight the changes in the standards and the new opportunities they offer. Implications for library operations and the challenges inherent in working with the new Accreditation Manual for Hospitals (AMH) are also explored. The long-awaited 1994 Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) Accreditation Manual for Hospitals (AMH) is now on most hospital library shelves. As expected, librarians will find that the section on Professional Library Services (the PR chapter) has disappeared and that the standards previously in that section are now incorporated in part into the new Management of Information, or IM chapter. Although this method of grouping standards may be new to many health sciences librarians, the incorporation of library services into IM may actually provide many more opportunities for librarians than the previous method of addressing library services separately.

Experiences with information locator services

Over the last few years, governments and other organizations have been using new technologies to create networked Information Locator Services that help people find information resources. These services not only enhance access to information, but also are designed to support fundamental information policy principles. This article relates experiences in developing and promoting services interoperable with the Global Information Locator Service standard that has now been adopted and promoted in many forums worldwide. The article describes sample implementations and touches on the strategic choices made in public policy, standards, and technology.
