大学图书馆地理信息系统设计与应用

系统利用GIS空间查询和空间分析功能,建立馆藏空间基础地理信息模型,将馆藏资源的属性数据与空间数据相关联,实现GIS在馆藏信息资源空间管理上的应用。系统支持具有不同使用权限的使用者在虚拟环境中实现馆藏资源的管理、检索、查询、分析和应用功能,读者可以方便地进行空间数据和属性数据的双向查询。     

Strategic Planning

ABSTRACT

Grounded in a campus-wide strategic planning effort and funded through a campus-wide lottery-based grant, the library at a small state-supported institution began a year long initiative with the primary objective of familiarizing faculty with the concept of information literacy. All librarians facilitated a series of hands-on, discipline-based workshops offered to faculty. The workshops served as the groundwork for the initial steps toward embedding information literacy concepts into the general education curriculum with the majority of classroom faculty participating in one of the workshops by the end of the academic year. This paper outlines the history and steps taken in the process.     

Learning More About How They Think: Information Literacy Instruction in a Campus-Wide Critical Thinking Project

ABSTRACT

Critical thinking and information literacy are strongly connected. At Washington State University, librarians have been involved with first-year experience programs and with a grant-funded critical thinking project that enhanced the library instruction and outreach efforts and has led to increased involvement with new initiatives on campus.     

Library-Based GIS Labs

Abstract

Increased use of geographic information systems on college and university campuses has prompted libraries to ask the question: Where and how can libraries fulfill these digital needs? This paper describes the actions taken by the Syracuse University Library to implement GIS and geo-spatial data services to the University community. Discussion will focus on the planning, administration, public services, collection development, and management issues pertaining to a networked multi-Station GIS lab.     

Instructional Outreach Across the Curriculum

Abstract

Over the past decade, there has been a steady rise in interest among academic librarians in the idea of outreach. Outreach from the academic library can take many forms, but it is often built around a commitment to instruction. At Washington State University, a commitment to information literacy instruction across the curriculum and an organizational structure that includes both an independent Library Instruction department and a network of subject specialists has facilitated the rise of a programmatic approach to instructional outreach that allows librarians and faculty to work together to develop creative approaches to the integration of information literacy instruction across the academic curriculum. This article identifies some of the characteristics of new models for instructional outreach in the academic library and describes two instructional outreach programs at Washington State.     

Use of Special Collections as an Opportunity for Outreach in the Academic Library

ABSTRACT

Academic special collections librarians have made great strides in making their collections discoverable and accessible to a wide audience. This article examines use of special collections departments and the many kinds of outreach librarians undertake to increase access to and knowledge of their collections, including creating electronic finding aids, digitizing material, collaborating with faculty, increasing participation in instruction and reference, and using exhibits, social media, and relationships with community partners to further the mission and goals of the library and the college or university. The article uses the University of Illinois at Chicago Special Collections Department as a case study.     

政府信息公开制度下的公共图书馆研究

公共图书馆作为社会公众获取各种信息资源的社会公益性机构,无疑成为政府信息公开制度中不容忽视的重要场所。公共图书馆在政府信息公开中的重要作用有法律条文和现实社会生活为支持和保证。公共图书馆发展的不均衡、传统观念的制约、公共图书馆工作活力的缺乏、政府信息公开相关配套机制的缺失阻碍了公共图书馆政府信息公开。可从以下几方面解决这些问题：公共图书馆基本建设;转变传统观念;增强工作活力;出台配套的图书馆法律法规;重视理论研究。     

国外公共图书馆健康信息服务研究进展

国外公共图书馆健康信息服务研究的内容主要包括:公共图书馆的角色和作用、实证研究、健康馆藏资源建设、参考咨询、对特殊群体的延伸服务、馆员培训及与其他机构的合作。而我国在这一领域的研究与国外相比存在着一定的差距,如研究历史较短,文献数量较少,研究内容较为单一,实证调查少,理论探讨多。公共图书馆如何为弱势群体提供健康信息服务,对某一地区公共图书馆健康信息服务情况进行较大规模的调查等,都是我国未来研究的发展趋势。     

基于GIS的馆藏知识管理初探

地理信息系统（GIS）是数字图书馆发展过程中一个重要的解决方案。在考虑拓展GIS分析及辅助决策功能的同时,试图将复杂网络及本体研究中的一些方法引入到GIS的应用模型中,使GIS从馆藏空间管理平台转化为馆藏知识管理的承载体。     

利用参考文献的学科分类分析图书情报领域的学科交叉性

认为文献、研究领域的学科交叉性一般使用其参考文献的所属学科分类(subject category, SC)来分析,而WoS(Web of Science)提供的参考文献数据并不包含学科分类,因此,有必要研究如何通过参考文献获取学科分类并分析学科交叉性。以图书情报领域为例,从学科分类的数量、分布以及差异性的角度分析图书情报领域的学科交叉性并以叠加图(overlay map)进行可视化。指出利用参考文献的学科分类分析学科交叉性的方法可以扩展到其他研究领域。     

医院图书馆业务系统集成研究

介绍了昆明医科大学第一附属医院图书馆的业务系统改造前存在的问题以及改造后系统集成原理、系统构成及集成系统给图书馆信息服务带来的变化,包括提升电子阅览室服务,扩展医院资源服务,开展内外网即时空间、学科导航服务等。     

GIS在文献信息管理中的应用评价

介绍了GIS技术在图书馆的服务与管理中的应用,概要总结了在地理信息在图书馆的使用、地理信息系统在图书馆的应用以及该技术在图书馆管理中的应用,并提出了应用GIS技术在文献层面实现可视化管理的设想。     

Geospatial Products and Techniques at the Center for Transportation Analysis

ABSTRACT

This paper highlights geospatial science-related innovations and developments conducted by the Center for Transportation Analysis (CTA) at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. CTA researchers have been developing integrated inter-modal transportation solutions through innovative and cost-effective research and development for many years.

Specifically, this paper profiles CTA-developed Geographic Information System (GIS) products that are publicly available. Examples of these GIS-related products include: the CTA Transportation Networks; GeoFreight system; and the Web-based Multi-Modal Routing Analysis System. In addition, an application on assessment of railroad hazmat routing alternatives is also discussed.     

信息共享空间:面向用户的信息服务新模式

文章探讨了信息共享空间的模式、基本原则和目标，提出了面向集成服务的信息共享空间的构架，包括战略规划、构建要素和效果评价，指出了国外相关理论与实践对我国高校图书馆构建信息共享空间的指导意义。
