Chinese Artists Raise Fund for Earthquake Relief

14：28 pm, May 12, Beijing time. An 8.0- magnitude earthquake broke out in Wenchuan, Sichuan Province. According to statistics, thismajor earthquake has generated the maximum intensity of 11 degrees and the areas in 100,000 square meters have been seriously damaged, including Beichuan, Shifang, Mianzhu, Wenchuan and Pengzhou in Sichuan Provinces as well as some counties in neighboring Gansu, Shanxi, Chongqing and Yunnan provinces and municipalities. After the earthquake occurred, the Chinese people, under the forceful leadership the Party and the Central Government, have taken immediate actions for rescue and relief. This catastrophic earthquake disaster has attracted extensive concern of the art circle in China. The China-Arab States Forum of Cultural Ministers under the framework of the 3rd Arab Arts Festival took place at the National Mu- seum of China in Beijing on Septem- ber 10. Peking Opera Alleglan under Heaven is adapted from a story about a Chinese states- man＇s filial piety in the Spring and Autumn Period （770 BC - 476 BC）. The inspiration/or this on-stage performance comes from the Chinese classic Spring and Autumn Annals. It narrates the story that Lord Zheng throws away the past resentment and becomes reconciled to his moth- er, underlining the importance of ties of blood and affection and calling for social conscience and humanity. Its premiere has special and realistic implications, especially in the Chinese soci- ety today in which money worship is gaining the upper hand over traditional morality.

Beijing Design Week 2013 （BJDW） took place from September 26 through to the Golden P Week until October 3, 2013.
