The Culture of Mexican-Americans: Its Importance for Early Childhood Educators

This paper provides an introduction to the Mexican-American culture, describing (1) cultural diversity and linguistic policies in the United States; (2) cultural and linguistic studies that have examined the backgrounds of Mexican-American individuals; (3) the characteristics of this population; (4) issues on discrimination and human relations; (5) the socioeconomic factors that Mexican-American individuals encountered due to their lack of education; and (6) the predominance of poorly paid and undereducated unskilled workers. Although many Mexican Americans have moved up the social ladder to the middle class, others have not. However, they have a richness of language and culture to share with the school.     

河洛文化:中国传统文化的源头与核心

河洛地区是指黄河和洛水相交汇处的这一广大地区.关于它的具体范围,朱绍侯先生曾在<河洛文化与河洛人、客家人>一文中指出:"即指以洛阳为中心,西至潼关、华阴,东至荥阳、郑州,南至汝颍,北跨黄河而至晋南、济源一带地区."显然这个范围要大于我们通常所说的洛阳平原或洛阳盆地,但洛阳平原无疑是河洛地区的核心部位.在同一篇文章中,朱先生又指出:"作为河洛文化圈,实际要超过河洛区域范围,即应该涵盖目前河南省全部地区."2002年10月,在郑州举办的"河洛文化与台湾"学术研讨会期间,朱绍侯先生、沙旭升先生都曾谈到,有开封禹王台所存康熙所题"功存河洛"匾额可以说明,所谓河洛地区,向东应包括郑州、开封在内.     

Somewhere in the Middle: The Measurement of Third Culture

This study explores the concept of “third culture,” which has not been tested by quantified measures since it was introduced. This study develops the 10-item measurement of third culture based on three dimensions—equality, commonality, and transcendence. Two hundred and fifteen international married individuals from 42 countries participated in a self-administered email survey. The findings indicated that the new scale is reliable and functions as a single dimension instead of as three subdimensions. Suggestions for future study as well as several implications on theory and methodology are discussed, drawing on the experience of this study.

凉山彝族的宗教信仰属原始宗教的范畴。其信仰主要有灵魂崇拜、祖先崇拜、灵物崇拜，等等。宗教的主持者有毕摩和苏尼两种。宗教活动包括占卜、祭祀和巫术等。     

天堂与天府:当代吴、蜀文化之比较——以苏州、成都文化建设为例

人称上有天堂,下有苏杭;蜀为天府之国.同为天堂与天府,成都与苏州应当有较强的可比性.这种可比性既表现在两者之间的得天独厚、人才辈出、体闲文化和形态丰富的文化种类;也表现在两者主体文化形态和文化特性的差异.本文从区域文化比较研究的角度,结合苏州、成都的经济发展和文化建设,挖掘吴、蜀文化的当下秉性和创新特质,意图从中挖掘各自独立的文化意义.寻找文化联系,为进一步推进区域文化互动,创新文化建设,打造区域文化品牌提供新的思路.     

宝墩文化的发现及其来源考察

宝墩文化是成都平原的一支重要的新石器时代考古学文化.本文回顾了该文化的发现和认识过程.通过对营盘山文化和宝墩文化在陶器亲缘联系、房屋建筑、经济类型等几个方面进行的考察,认为宝墩文化可能是由营盘山文化发展而来的.宝墩文化在其自身的发展过程中,陶器制作工艺有所创新,同时还可能接受了来自其它考古学文化的影响.     

金沙江文化的性质及其特征

“金沙江化”概念的提出，是值得探索的新课题。本对金沙江化的分布范围、历史定位和基本特征，以及对金沙江化的利用与开发问题，提出了自己的看法。
