Changing Complex Teaching Skills

Abstract

The study reported had as its objective assessing change in complex teaching skills under controlled training conditions. The trainee participants were 20 post‐baccalaureate, experienced teachers. Two sets of skills were addressed: (1) extending and lifting as a questioning strategy and (2) organizing an explanation for structural clarity. Conceptually‐based training resulted in significant changes in both sets of skills. The significance of the findings is delineated for both teaching effectiveness and teacher training research. The general research strategy suggests that training in the same skills be assessed next under the less controlled conditions of the classroom.     

Teaching Software Designing Skills

Research has revealed a significant gap between the thinking patterns and software design habits of students or recent computer science university graduates and those of expert software developers.There may be several causes for this gap, one of which is undoubtedly the fact that throughout their studies students are mostly asked to write software programs of relatively lim-ited scope, and are not usually required to work as part of a team constructing a complex program.In the present paper we will describe a study unit intended to be taught as part of a high school computer science curriculum, which emphasizes the software system aspects. In a study that accompanied the development and actual teaching of the unit, we checked, among other things, whether the students acquired skills for developing a complex software system.

Teaching Soft Skills Employers Need

This study identifies the soft skills community colleges teach in an office technology course and determines whether the skills taught are congruent with the soft skills employers require in today's entry-level office work. A qualitative content analysis of a community college office technology soft skills course was performed using 23 soft skills employers require for entry-level office work. Nine of the 16 colleges in the South Carolina Technical College System were teaching an office technology soft skills course in 2007–2008, and they provided course content for analysis. Data determined that the skills taught in the office technology soft skills course are by vast majority congruent with the soft skills employers require in today's entry-level office work.

微格教学与培养体育教育专业学生教学技能的效益研究

分析了运用"微格教学"培养体育教育专业学生教学技能的步骤,用比较的方法研究了传统培训方法和用微格教学法培训的必要性、可行性、高效性、经济性等问题。指出,在体育教育专业学生的教育实习阶段采用"微格教学"培训他们的教学技能,能充分发挥"微格教学"之教学技能综合训练"模拟器"的作用,具有可控性强,操作简捷,反馈准确的特点,不仅可行,而且其高效性和经济性也十分明显,它进一步完善了教育实习———教学技能培训基本形式的方法、手段,从根本上改变了长期以来我国高校体育教育专业学生教学技能"师傅带徒弟"的培训方式,大大提高了教学技能的培养效益,是一种具有较高推广价值的培训学生教学技能的优化模式。
