分析了英语文献中数学公式的句法属性、功能与位置，认为数学公式的句法属性有三个层次：或相当于名词词组、或相当于名词性分句、或相当于句子。相当于名词词组的数学公式在功能上或者直接充当句子成分（充当宾语、补足语）、或者不直接充当句子成分（充当同位语）；其位置一般在动词（包括谓语动词、动词不定式、ing分词、联系动词、动词被动态）之后、as／to be之后、先行语（以及引导词）之后。相当于名词性分句的数学公式在功能上构成that-分句、附属分句、并列分句；位置分别在引导词that、从属连词、并列连词之后。相当于句子的数学公式在功能上近似于句子，但仍需要由某些词引出；其位置多在句子副词、连接副词、关系副词、“介词＋which”之后。另外，数学公式还常出现在as follows的后面。数学公式偶尔充当分句中的主语成分。     

基于SQLServer的题库管理与智能组卷系统的设计与实现

组卷算法是题库系统的核心,现基于随机选题的数学模型设计并实现了一种优化、可行的组卷策略;并采用ADO(ActiveX Data Objects)技术实现题库中对于图像和数学公式的存取问题;基于C++ BUILDER平台开发了高校计算机专业基础课程的题库管理与组卷系统,该系统在实际教学环境下运行取得了良好的效果。

In considering the appropriate use of the terms "science" and "scientific instrument," tracing the history of "mathematical instruments" in the early modern period is offered as an illuminating alternative to the historian's natural instinct to follow the guiding lights of originality and innovation, even if the trail transgresses contemporary boundaries. The mathematical instrument was a well-defined category, shared across the academic, artisanal, and commercial aspects of instrumentation, and its narrative from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century was largely independent from other classes of device, in a period when a "scientific" instrument was unheard of.

Distributed-parameter optimal control via mathematical programming

In this paper a variety of optimal control (OC) problems for distributed- parameter (DP) systems are approached using mathematical programming (MP). First, the principal DP models in current use are given, a variety of DP objective functions is provided, and the OC problems based on them are formulated. Second, these models and objective functions are converted in algebraic form, as required by MP, and the solution procedure of the OC problems via MP is outlined. Third, a representative set of nonlinear programming results applied to DP systems is presented, and finally, a numvber of application examples is given.

Stabilizing a mathematical model of population system

In this paper, we will consider how to stabilize a mathematical model, the Kolmogorov model, of the interactions of an n species population. The Lotka–Volterra model is a particular case of the more general Kolmogorov model. We first identify the unstable steady states of the model, then we use the feedback control based on the solutions of the Riccati equation to stabilize the linearized system. Finally we stabilize the nonlinear system by using the feedback controller obtained in the stabilization of the linearized system. We introduce the backward Euler method to approximate the feedback control nonlinear system and obtain the error estimates. Four numerical examples are given which come from the application areas.     

A mathematical formulation of keyword compression for thesauri

In this paper we demonstrate a new method for concentrating the set of key-words of a thesaurus. This method is based on a mathematical study that we have carried out into the distribution of characters in a defined natural language.We have built a function f of concentration which generates only a few synonyms. In applying this function to the set of key-words of a thesaurus, we reduce each key-word to four characters without synonymity. (For three characters we have a rate of synonymity of approx. 1/1000th.)A new structure of binary files allows the thesaurus to be contained in a table of less than 700 bytes.
