人才培养是大学声誉的源泉.哈佛大学通过不断改进课程体系,推动了本科教育卓越.新生研讨课是哈佛在通识课程之外创建的一种课程形式,是有学分的学术性课程,它促进了新生与资深教授的密切接触和沟通,有利于养成大学生的批判思维和理性思维.国内研究型大学应当加强本科课程建设,通过新生研讨课等新的课程形式推动课程内容和教学方式的创新,通过教师教学培训、研究生助教等课程制度提高本科人才培养质量.  相似文献

近年来随着全球经济一体化进程的加快,口译英语教育机构犹如雨后春笋般出现,这无疑对高校英语教学的发展带来了一定的冲击力。口译教育机构以其独特的教学方式吸引了众多学生前去报名参加,并反映学习效果良好。为了促进我国大学英语教育的发展,对大学英语专业与口译教育机构的教学进行了比较研究,得出了相关结论,并针对当今高校英语专业教学中存在的一系列问题,提出了相应的改革策略。  相似文献

作为中国高等教育的新制度新创举,独立学院在培养人才和促进高等教育大众化方面做出了重大的贡献,但近几年整体生源数量持续下降,独立学院出现生源数量不足、生源质量下降的困境,独立学院的办学定位不明、师资力量较弱也都使得独立学院的发展步履维艰,而与普通公办重点院校比综合能力不足、与高职高专院校比动手能力不足,使独立学院进入了一个高不成低不就的窘迫状态。如何使得独立学院走出办学困境,提高学生就业率,增强竞争力,有效的途径就是转型为高职本科。  相似文献

The Georgia College mathematics department has reimagined its major requirements to integrate meaningful undergraduate research experiences. We have developed and implemented a multi-year action plan to transform our major. In this article we discuss how the department has developed and implemented a year-long research experience as a capstone requirement. We address how we gained faculty and student buy-in, built a curriculum to support the experience, and developed assessment and evaluation tools. We conclude with a discussion of challenges and next steps in the program.  相似文献

This qualitative case study focused on a conflict which arose between two child advocacy groups in 1993 in North Carolina. One group consisted of nurses, social workers, and public school teachers and administrators; the other group consisted of ministers and church day care providers. At stake was a legislative initiative, Smart Start, which would fund 20 model day care centers in the state, reduce staff-to-child ratios in day care centers, and increase child immunizations. This study was based on participant/observation, interview, and document review; it chronicled the conflict and highlighted group tactics.  相似文献

Chinese local undergraduate universities are in a process of transition into universities of applied sciences. Important aspects of this include strengthening cooperation between universities and industry, cultivating applied talent needed in industry, improving students’ employment rates, and promoting economic development. Internships are an important way to help students gain practical experience and deepen university-industry cooperation. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the challenges of the existing internship process in an undergraduate university in China and give suggestions to improve internship quality. Qualitative data from 35 students and 12 administrators/faculty were collected at a local undergraduate university, H University (HU), in central China, which is currently undergoing the process of becoming a university of applied sciences. The findings of the study show issues with the university’s model, including communication between industry and university, internship evaluation, student guidance, and internship quality. Recommendations based on the literature are provided.  相似文献

While there has been emphasis on the institution and individual classroom as loci of learning and reform, less attention has been paid to the academic department. However, precisely because its structure is so endemic to institutions of higher education, the academic department may be the most logical and potent site for change. Using a case study approach, this paper examines the conditions under which change in undergraduate education takes hold and flourishes in the academic department, advances the concept of readiness, and explores its implications for those who wish to promote change in the department. Virginia S. Lee  is managing member and consultant, Virginia S. Lee & Associates, LLC, a consulting firm specializing in teaching, learning, and assessment in higher education. She received her B.A. from Smith College, her M.B.A. from New York University, and her Ph.D. from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Special interests include the design and implementation of institution-wide curriculum reform efforts, course and curriculum design, inquiry-guided learning, intensive learning, outcomes-based assessment, and the scholarship of teaching and learning. Michael R. Hyman  is Director of Graduate Programs and Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology at North Carolina State University. He received his B.S. from University College, London, his M.B.A. from Oregon State University, and his Ph.D. from Bristol University. His major research interest is the biodegradation of environmental pollutants. Geraldine Luginbuhl  is Interim Department Head and Professor in the Department of Microbiology at North Carolina State University. She received her B.S. from Stanford University and her Ph.D. from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. 高校业务外包无论在国际还是国内都是一个非常普遍的现象,近来高校核心业务外包也越来越得到关注.该研究试图弥补国内高校核心业务外包相关实证研究的不足,以四川省某省属高职学院为例,分析该学院信息系软件工程专业部分核心信息技术课程教学外包的效果.结果显示,课程教学外包的班级与非课程教学外包班级比较,前者学生的平均成绩与学生满意度有显著提高.说明高职院校的核心业务外包,也能显著提高其教育产出与教学质量,具有明显的正向效果.  相似文献

面向地方本科院校红河学院的学生发放调查问卷,获取学业导师制实施现状的数据,运用描述性统计分析、二维列联表独立性检验、对应分析方法对导师制实施效果的影响因素进行定量分析。结果显示,学生性别、学生是否挂过科、导师单次指导人数这三个因素对导师制的实施效果没有显著的影响。学生与导师的匹配度,导师对待学生态度,学生人生规划是否得到导师帮助,学生主动联系导师的频次、学生出勤导师活动的态度、导师每学期与学生见面的次数、学生的年级、导师分配方式、导师与学生交流的方式、学生个人规划的清晰度与导师制实施效果显著相关。利用对应分析方法给出了各相关因素的属性与导师制五级实施效果的对应关系,为导师制的优化提出建议。  相似文献

以广东外语外贸大学开展的本科生导师制专项评估为例,通过总结专家组的评估意见和分析学生问卷调查的数据,发现经过多年的实践,本科生导师制在促进学生的思想成长和学业指导等方面起到了积极的作用,学生普遍认可导师的工作态度和指导成效,但同时存在导师职责不清、指导不力、沟通渠道不畅、指导计划不明、指导频率过低、指导效果欠佳等方面的问题。为此,提出进一步明晰导师工作职责、加大导师制的宣传和培训力度、采取多样化的本科生导师配备方式、合理安排导师指导学生的数量、改善导师工作环境和条件、建立以正面激励为主的奖惩和监督机制等改进策略。  相似文献

把握高校教学过程规律是教学管理和质量保障的关键。本文以厦门大学为个案,选取该校1996—2003级本科生为样本进行实证研究。通过实证分析,论文得出三大结论:学习过程类似衰减的马尔可夫链式过程,从大学第一学年到第四学年,呈现出相邻学习阶段相关性高、非相邻学习阶段相关性弱的规律性;学年的影响力随着年级升高表现为逐渐减弱的过程,但是管理类二、三学年影响力的减弱趋势不明显;大学第一学年在整个大学生涯中起到至关重要的作用。  相似文献

教育部颁布的《大学英语课程教学要求》提出:大学阶段的英语教学要求分为三个层次,即一般要求、较高要求和更高要求。这为大学英语教学改革,实施分级教学提供了政策导向。为促进学校转型发展,做好大学英语分级教学工作必须制定好教学目标,根据学生的现有水平进行分级,选择有利于所有学生发展的教学内容以及恰当的教学方法,确保分级教学能有成效。连续四年的分级教学实践表明:实施分级教学、因材施教能提高教学效率,但给教学和管理带来了很多困难。顺应时代潮流的大学英语分级教学改革无疑是一项系统工程,至少涉及"教""学""管"三个方面。  相似文献

Abstract

Undergraduate research experiences provide excellent examples of high-impact practices. They rely on inquiry-based learning to provide important capstone experiences for the students. However, they are time-intensive for mentor faculty. In an attempt to scale up our faculty’s ability to offer such experiences, we combined a number of projects into one class: the Biomathematics Workshop. This article chronicles the experiences of one student from that class interspersed with comments from his mentor. Our goal is to illustrate some of the twists and turns in his journey and the unexpected but valuable lessons the student (and the mentoring team) learned.  相似文献
