少数民族古籍收集保存工作包括:古籍的收集、整理、典藏;库房管理;古籍开发利用,等等。应当提高对少数民族古籍工作的认识,制定发展策略,建立有利于古籍工作的机制,加强对少数民族古籍的收藏、保护和开发利用工作。参考文献6。

American Hungarian Library Connections: Collecting,Inventorying, Preserving,and Sharing Hungarian Documents in the United States

Several waves of Hungarian immigrants arrived in the United States, beginning with the economic immigrants of the late nineteenth century through the interwar period and post-World War II, to the last major refugee crisis after 1956. Hungarian communities preserved their cultural heritage and ethnic identity by creating their own institutions: churches, societies, schools, libraries, etc. The author discusses the relationships between Hungarian and American libraries and librarians in terms of collecting, registering, preserving, and sharing the Hungarian cultural heritage.     

Responsibility for Preserving and Archiving Electronic Resources

Abstract

The workshop addressed where the responsibility should rest for the preserving and archiving of electronic resources. Librarians, publishers, and commercial vendors reflected various points of view. A literature search revealed that there is not yet a definition or a process for the preserving of electronic information. There is general agreement that the information should be “global” and “eternal” and that the ultimate responsibility will be in the form of a consortium arrangement.     

Training Temporary Reference Staff for Maximized Learning: A Case Study

This paper will discuss the 2018 redesign of the University of Michigan Library's Ask a Librarian reference service. The library's tiered reference model relies heavily on the support of graduate student and part-time staff — a temporary workforce that is expectably vulnerable to high turnover. As such, a training program must consider the vast knowledge required of staff to prepare them for providing reference service, provide ongoing support/training, and be sensitive to the constraints, responsibilities, and roles of these employees, who are often first and foremost, full-time students and/or individuals working multiple jobs. The training redesign focused on the creation of an interactive, online learning component that could also provide a knowledge base of support for staff to continually refer to, while engaged learning activities were emphasized during limited in-person training sessions to reinforce training and offer opportunities to build camaraderie between new staff and their fellow colleagues.

实现数字图书馆互操作的一个主要目的就是跨越异构、分布式数字图书馆的馆藏发现有用的信息 ,并向用户提供统一、透明的服务。本文首先介绍元搜索引擎的概念、结构模型及工作原理 ,在此基础上 ,提出一种基于元搜索引擎的数字图书馆互操作框架 ,并给出了基于该框架实现的一个原型系统。与相关研究工作相比 ,该方案对参与互操作的数字图书馆没有任何约束 ,具有较好的可扩充性

Archiving Spotify: Methods and Motives for Collecting Individual Music Streaming Data

In July of 2017, music streaming platform Spotify reached 60 million paid subscribers, nearly doubling from the year before and continuing to grow after the launch of rivals Apple Music and Tidal. Users of these services are creating large amounts of data, including tracks played and playlists curated. If properly managed, this data could enrich collections by illuminating the habits and inner lives of archival donors. However, the limits of proprietary software pose a challenge. This article presents methods for collecting data created by users of Spotify and other similar platforms, which empower archivists to proactively manage music streaming data.

The issues surrounding methods for collecting, processing, and providing access to electronic serials are discussed. Weston debates the access versus ownership issues of electronic journals, and discusses the changing roles of systems and acquisitions librarians in the provision of access to these journals. Reinke outlines the University of Houston's acquisitions process, an approach paralleling traditional serials acquisitions methods. Morgan describes an automated serials acquisitions process developed at the North Carolina State University.
