Wang Xiaoshuai's Cannes prizewinning film Shanghai Dreams (Qing Hong) is rooted in first handed memories. In the late 60s, when China feared attack by the USSR, armament factories and other "front line" industries were relocated from cities on the eastern seaboard to remote inland areas, and idealistic young adults were persuaded to resettle in dirt-towns like Guiyang to staff them. Less than 15 years later, many were desperate to move back to the urban sophistication of such cities as Shanghai, disillusioned by life in the sticks and eager to taste the newFreedoms of the 80s. The Wu family is a case in point.  相似文献

Comparing with the prosperous film market, China's theatre industry has yet to see robust growth. Many theatres have been built and opened, but cultural clusters with market dynamics have not been developed around these theatres. This reality is largely owed to insufficient inter- action between theatres and performing arts agencies, lack of diversified modes of theatre man- agement, and diffcult access to the theatre industry by private capital. Zhai Zhihai, chairman of Jingying Group, a leading corporation in education and culture, elaborated his insights and proposals on how to encourage private capital to invest in and operate theatres.  相似文献

China's booming market and growing consumers of luxury goods have attracted world luxury brand names to come for a new round of gold rush. Flagship stores and outlets of famous brands such as Louis Vuitton and Giorgio Armani are burgeoning in big cities across the country. In this intense struggle for market shares in the world's fourth largest economy with the biggest potential population of luxury consumers, a local Chinese brand name is growing fast to become an inevitable rival of those Western heavyweights. From Millionaire Fair to Extravaganza, it has been invited as an equal member to stand amidst world top-class brand names such as Rolls Royce, Cartier and Dior. It is NE.TIGER, a shining fashion brand founded in China and by a Chinese designer. "In fact, China has exported numerous luxuries to the rest of the world for hundreds of years, such as silk, porcelain and tea. In the contemporary time, NE.TIGER will continue this glorious tradition and try to be the best example of China's high-end brand names," said Zhang Zhifeng, chairman and chief designer of NE·TIGER.  相似文献

But the Bund is not a feature exclusive to Shanghai. Similar styles of architecture also appear in other coastal or river cities in China, such as Wuhan,Guangzhou, Chengdu and Fuzhou.  相似文献

Unlike many large Chinese cities with a long history, Qingdao is relatively a newcomer, being nothing but a fishing village until the end of the 19th century. The area of which Qingdao is located today is called Jiao'ao. In 1891, the Qing Government decided to make the area a primal, defense base against naval attacks and planned the construction of a city. Little was done, however, until 1897 when the city was ceded to Germany. Soon after the outbreak of World War Ⅰ in 1914, Japan occupied Qingdao and the surrounding province after its declaration of war on Germany.  相似文献

In the Han Dynasty two thousand years ago, a fantastic dramatic ceremony called “Grand Nuo” were staged in the court on the eve of Spring Festival. A wizard wearing golden mask and holding spears and shields led 120 boys, all with torches in hand, to run and shout around the court to dispel ghosts and spirits and pray for good harvests and peace. This ceremony has later spread to the society and evolved into a sacrificial ceremonial drama popular in Yangtze Delta which is called “boy fair”.  相似文献
