Festival of China Strengthens US-China Cultural Ties

On September 10, 2014 a grand opening ceremony of＂China in the Eyes of Arab Painters＂, an exhibition on works of residence program tor Arab painters, took place at the National Art Museum of China. The 4th Chinese Film Festival opened officially in Paris
On May, 12nd, the 4th Chinese Filrn Festival was officially opened in Gaumont on the avenue of Champs- Elysees. Zhai .luan, Ambassador of China to France, Yin Fu, Director of China Cultural Center in Paris and Chairperson on the part of China of this festival, special guest Catherine Deneuve, Xia Zitong and Liu Xiaoguang, the leading actress and producer of the film ＂The Monkey King＂ and other guests attended this opening ceremony.     

Rong Tie and His Paintings

Rong Tie was educated in the Central Academy of Fine Arts, majoring in calligraphy, in 1996, he began his postgraduate study in calligraphy at Capital Normal University. He studied in the “elite class” at China Institution of Arts Studies in 2002 and became a visiting scholar at Peking University in 2003. Big Push to the Reform
35 years have passed since the policy of reform and opening up was launched in China. The magazine released the feature column of ＂Figures of Reform＂ in this issue, reviewing the practices and experiences of several key economists in the country＇s relbrm process. These featured economists include Du Runsheng, dubbed as ＂father of China＇s rural reform＂, Lin Yifu who proposed the development strategy of comparative advantage, Zhang Zhuoyuan who participated in the drafting of the Tenth Five-Year Plan, Mao Yushi, generally considered to be one of the most controversial intellectuals in China, and Cai Fang, widely called ＂economist speaking for the benefit of the poor＂. All these economists bear strong responsibility for the nation and the people and work hard to pursue truth.     

Symposium Held to Promote China Studies

The Symposium on China Stud- ies, an annual event launched in 2013, celebrated its second session in the end of October 2014. Jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Culture of China （MOC） and the Chinese Academy of Social Scienc- es （CASS）, the event saw the atten- dance of 20 renowned sinologists from 17 countries and 14 Chinese experts in studies of Chinese culture, econo- my and politics. Participants carried out two-day discussions and dialogues on such topics as “Chinese Dream and value of contemporary China”, “ con- temporary interpretation of Chinese culture”, “translation and spread of contemporary Chinese works” and “tuture and trend of China studies”.     

PORCERLAIN TRADE OVER THE MARIME SILK ROADS IN THE SONG DYNASTY

Over the sweep of history, oceanic boats have been recognized as proof of the scientific evolution of mankind. During the Song-Yuan period, China had witnessed growing exchanges with other nations. A large number of Chinese emigrated abroad and brought advanced products of China to local people. At the same time, exotic treasures and produces continued to import into China, remarkably promoting the development of China. In the past two decades, sunken boats of ancient China continued to be discovered in Chinese seas, testifying to prosperous maritime trade of past dynasties. ＂South China Sea No. 1＂ and ＂Huaguang Corral＂, discovered in Taishan, Guangdong and Xisha Islands respectively, are the two sunken ships of the Song Dynasty that have attracted nationwide attention of both archeologists and general public alike.
