It's happened to all of us: sleeplessly tossing and turning while the person next door snorts(喷鼻息) his way through the night. Why is it a perfectly normal, healthy person will make such an awful noise? Dr. Neil B. Kavey, director of the Sleep Disorders Center at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City, offers some clues.  相似文献

With the rapid development of Information and Communication Technology(ICT),the modern information and communica tion media have been changing the rationale of learning and teaching.Under such circumstances,a person’s,especially an educator’s in formation literacy plays an important role in their personal and professional development. This essay discusses the influence of the new challenge on EFL(English as a foreign language) teachers’professional development.EFL teachers should be fully empowered to be infor mation literate language educators in the curriculum innovation of TEFL(teaching English as a foreign language). It is suggested that EFL teachers’awareness, attitudes, and personal needs should be taken into account in the process of integrating ICT into their professional practice and self-development.  相似文献

The study of categorization and prototype has been an interesting subject for the scholars in psycholinguistics. They have done different studies to investigate the reasons for the formation of the prototype in people‘s mind. Some scholars believe that cultural factors play an important role in the formation of prototype. This paper is intended to look into the categorization of the fruits in China, and the researcher hopes to get the factors which may to some extent influence their idea of typicality. The researcher believes that the regions where a person grows up in may have a subtle effect on his or her idea of typicality of certain items.  相似文献

Aortic stenosis(AS)is a progressive heart valve disease occurring predominantly in older patients.According to a survey in a western country, the prevalence of AS is nearly 6.4%in patients over 75 years old(Carabello and Paulus,2009).Transcatheter aortic valve replacement(TAVR)is an alternative method for AS patients.Previous studies have described how up to 66%of TAVR patients have concomitant baseline kidney dysfunction(Ferro et al.,2015;Gargiulo et al.,2015).The majority of patients can benefit from the TAVR procedure with the recovery of kidney function.  相似文献

The term, culture shock, was introduced for the first time in 1958 to describe the anxiety produced when a person moves to a completely new environ- ment. This term expresses the lack of direction, the feeling of not knowing what to do or how to do things in a new environment, and not knowing what is appro- priate or inappropriate. The feeling of culture shock generally sets in after the first few weeks of coming to a new place. "Coming to America is like jumping into cold water," says an inte…  相似文献

The Gaze Theory
谢瑜娟 《海外英语》2012,(11):274-277
Gaze describes the relationship of the subject with the power and desire to look and awareness that one can be viewed. The gaze can be motivated by the subject’ s desire to control the object it sees, and an object that can likewise capture and hold the subject’ s eye.The term ’ gaze’ is often defined as looking long and intently with affection at a subject.A person who determines a sense of themselves as an individual element in the world makes up the idea of the gaze. The concept of the gaze is also a central part of theories looking within modernity.  相似文献

INTRODUCTION The ultimate goal of health care is to maintain or improve the quality of life of people. Health is an important determinant of a person’s quality of life although it is not the only one. Other factors such as culture, religion, environment, education and finance can also affect quality of life but they are often be- yond the scope of health care. Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) is the main concern of health care professionals and is becoming an important health out…  相似文献

Actinomycosis is an uncommon disease, which is usually manifested as cervicofacial infection and related to poor oral hygiene or compromised immune function. Pulmonary actinomycosis is rare, but its diagnosis is changing due to its variable presentation and the similarity in appearance to other intrapulmonary diseases. Here we report an 80-year-old man with a solitary pulmonary nodule over the left upper lobe. Pulmonary neoplasm was highly suspected in this patient and thus resection of the mass was undertaken through video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS). Histopathological examination demonstrated this patient had an Actinomyeces infection. While the application of VATS in patients with pulmonary actinomycosis has rarely been reported in literature, we conclude that VATS is valuable for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with undetermined pulmonary nodule(s).  相似文献

The more unambiguous statement of the P versus NP problem and the judgement of its hardness, are the key ways to find the full proof of the P versus NP problem. There are two sub-problems in the P versus NP problem. The first is the classifications of different mathematical problems (languages), and the second is the distinction between a non-deterministic Turing machine (NTM) and a deterministic Turing machine (DTM). The process of an NTM can be a power set of the corresponding DTM, which proves that the states of an NTM can be a power set of the corresponding DTM. If combining this viewpoint with Cantor’s theorem, it is shown that an NTM is not equipotent to a DTM. This means that "generating the power set P(A) of a set A" is a non-canonical example to support that P is not equal to NP.  相似文献

Values may be considered as generalized beliefs about what is or is not desirable and also as motives. The strength of a person's values may affect how much effort a person puts into an activity, how long a person persists at an activity, the way situations are construed, the affective responses that occur when an activity is undertaken unsuccessfully. Schwartz and Bilsky (1987, 1990) proposed that there are ten motivational types of values that could be derived from the three universal human requirements. Schwartz and Bilsky also specified sets of dynamic relation between the value types. The values that were incorporated into the value types were from the Schwartz Value Survey that contained 56 values covering a wide range of content. The value types proposed by Schwartz (1992)were: power, achievement, hedonism, stimulation, self-direction, universalism, benevolence, conformity, tradition and security. The results of the research that I am presenting refer to relations between value types preferred and accepted by young people and goals life, a temporal orientation, worries, some of personality traits.  相似文献

INTRODUCTION Graves’ disease (GD) is an autoimmune diseasecharacterized clinically by hyperthyroidism, diffusegoiter, Graves’ ophthalmopathy (GO) and the pres-ence of TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) receptorautoantibodies. GD is a multifactorial disease thadevelops as the result of a complex interaction be-tween genetic susceptibility genes and environmentafactors. Multiple genetic factors are believed to in-fluence the autoimmunity evident in GD, but a firmgenetic basis for GD …  相似文献
