Mediation effect of business process and supply chain management capabilities on the impact of IT on firm performance: Evidence from Chinese firms

Motivated by the seeming presence of the productivity paradox in China, this research revisits the question of how information technology (IT) affects firm performance. Leveraging the process-based view of IT, we establish a theoretical framework for the mediation factors for the relationship between IT capabilities and performance. Based on a survey of 127 companies in China, we find that a firm's management capabilities to manage both its internal and external business processes fully mediate the impact of IT on firm performance. The two management capabilities in this study are business-process management capability and supply-chain management capability. Our results show that only the coherent integration of IT capability with firm’s ability to optimize business processes and to improve management of supply chains can enhance firm performance. Firms should avoid the fallacy that IT investments are solely responsible for better firm performance. Based on our findings, we discuss the implications for research and practice.     

韩资企业高层管理团队的构建对中国企业跨国经营的启示

中国企业"走出国门"、"海外并购"屡屡受挫,收益甚微。而诸多韩国企业成功登陆中国市场,顺利开展国际业务,硕果颇丰。基于企业高层管理团队构建的视角,对比中国与韩国的高层管理团队的差距,借鉴韩国企业成功经验,总结中国企业高层管理团队在跨国经营中应当具备的特质,培养中国企业自己的跨国经营型管理人才。     

企业IS外包、IT组织变革与能力提升的案例研究

以IT组织结构、IT能力等相关研究为理论基础,选择两家企业作为实地研究对象,通过访谈、资料收集等方式对它们的IS外包及IT组织变革过程进行了案例研究。结果表明,IS外包推动下的IT组织变革可以有效地促进业务与IT的融合,获取IT竞争优势。     

基于IT／IS的R＆D过程管理的演进

R＆D过程管理是R＆D管理中的重要组成部分,其方法和手段影响R＆D管理的效率。首先从R＆D流程的结构化程度分析R＆D过程管理对信息技术/信息系统(IT/IS)应用的需求,接着分析基于IT/IS的R＆D过程管理方法的进展,最后指出IT/IS对R＆D过程管理发展的平台和促进作用。     

An investigation into turn-away among information technology professionals in Brazil

Two important problems have been observed fairly frequently among information technology (IT) professionals, namely turn-over – where the IT professional moves to another company but still remains in the IT sector – and turn-away, in which the IT professional abandons the area in order to occupy a position in a different area, either in the same company or in another, sometimes assuming a managerial function. Few research papers were found with respect to the latter phenomenon. Based on that, the main thrust of this work is to understand how and why IT professionals in Brazil abandon their area, identifying typical characteristics in their career transition. Thus, from a literature review about career development and the analysis of the data collected, eight research hypotheses were developed in order to be analyzed by the researchers. A multiple case study method with several units of analysis was applied in two large companies in Brazil. In-depth interviews were conducted with IT professionals who had migrated to other areas within their organizations, they being considered the unit of analysis. The results accrued from this research reveal that IT professionals in Brazil need to have more growth opportunities than either their companies have been able to offer them or it is possible to offer within the technical arena.     

基于AnyLogic企业信息系统创新的学习过程分析

针对“IT悖论”问题,探讨如何通过IS创新的学习过程使信息系统符合企业实际,获得应有的投资绩效。首先,本文将企业IS创新主体分为IT人员和IS使用人员,运用Anylogic软件建立两类企业人员创新学习过程的智能体模型,然后分别针对不同创新人群及不同创新模式的学习过程进行分析,从而提出提高每类创新模式学习过程的最佳途径。研究表明,对于IT人员来说,提高开拓式创新的最优途径是招聘知识储备高、沟通能力好的IT员工；提高升级式创新的最优途径是增强IT部门与业务部门的交流,提高移植式创新的最优途径是培养员工的分析与组合能力；提高模仿式创新的最优途径是大力引进IS新技术。对于IS使用人员,提高创造性使用的最优途径是加强IT团队的支持,而拓展性使用因为较容易实现,企业无需加大投入。     

Dependency-based IT Governance practices in inter-organisational collaborations: A graph-driven elaboration

In an ever more globalised world IT (Information Technology) managers increasingly have to support value creation within inter-organisational collaboration settings. Such organisational forms with their inherent complexity require specific approaches for their IT management within. Especially important for unleashing the chances of networked arrangements is the right form of IT Governance. Choosing the right arrangement for IT Governance is heavily dependent on understanding the concepts on which such business constellations are built. In this paper we provide therefore first a systematically derived, graph-based perspective on the key terms of inter-organisational collaboration. Based on this understanding of concepts and structured representations of inter-organisational dependencies we present interorganisational governance practices for IT. Specifically, we assign accountabilities to top executive roles from both IT and business. By keeping a holistic perspective, the insights gained in this study are highly relevant for strategic information management in terms of Business-IT Alignment as well as monitoring and controlling of inter-organisational information infrastructures in a rapidly changing business environment.

信息技术公司研发投入与高管薪酬激励研究

信息技术业公司的自主创新能力是公司成长和发展的关键因素。公司研发项目周期较长、不确定性较大等特点很可能导致基于公司短期经营业绩的薪酬激励方案降低高管加大研发投入的积极性。本文通过对2007-2008年中国信息技术业上市公司研发投入强度和高管薪酬激励的实证考察,结果表明公司董事会通过薪酬方案鼓励公司高管提高研发投入强度以增强公司自主创新能力。而且,研究表明公司薪酬方案更倾向于奖励提高研发投入强度的公司高管团队,而不是公司CEO。     

知识管理对信息技术和信息系统外包成功性的影响

提出了从知识管理角度提高信息技术与信息系(IT／IS)外包成功性模型，指出：IT／IS外包失败的原因有三个：第一，外包企业与IT/IS供应商之间知识流动顺畅性，包括供应商知识到客户以及客户到供应商之间双向流动。第二，外包合作双方和谐关系。第三，环境动态性。流畅的知识流动、和谐的客户供应商关系以及稳定的环境是外包成功的保证。     

Cloud computing as an innovation: Percepetion,attitude, and adoption

Cloud computing is a current trend that reveals the next-generation application architecture and it is estimated that by 2013 the cloud market will have reached $8.1bn. While cloud services such as webmail, Flickr and YouTube have been widely used by individuals for some time, it not until relatively recently that organisations have began to use cloud services as a tool for meeting their IT needs. This study aims to investigate how cloud computing is understood by IT professionals and the concerns that IT professionals have in regard to the adoption of cloud services. The study was carried out in Taiwan and used a survey by interview approach to understand IT professionals’ understandings and concerns about cloud computing. The findings of the study suggest that while the benefits of cloud computing such as its computational power and ability to help companies save costs are often mentioned in the literature, the primary concerns that IT managers and software engineers have are compatibility of the cloud with companies’ policy, IS development environment, and business needs; and relative advantages of adopting cloud solutions. The findings also suggest that most IT companies in Taiwan will not adopt cloud computing until the uncertainties associated with cloud computing, e.g. security and standardisation are reduced and successful business models have emerged.     

Knowledge management: An information science perspective

Knowledge management (KM) is an emerging field of specialization in a number of professions, including Information Science (IS). The different professions are contributing to and influencing the developments in KM in their own ways. However, it is argued here that IS is not contributing to the advancement of KM as much as it should for a number of apparent reasons. The main purpose of the paper is to call on the members of the IS profession to take a more proactive and visible role in advancing KM by showing that KM is a natural and long-awaited development in IS and that a number of circumstances have made KM to be an area of emphasis in IS whose time has come. The paper also aims at contributing towards achieving a consensus among IS professionals on conceptualization, goals, and scope of KM in IS. The recommendations of the paper focus on how the profession could proactively be involved in advancing KM.     

中国企业人力资源管理信息化实施绩效的影响因素实证研究

分析了企业人力资源信息化实施绩效的影响因素,提出了人力资源信息化绩效影响因素的概念模型和测量模型,并且用116家中国企业的数据检验了模型。结果表明,中国企业人力资源信息化的实施绩效与外界压力、高层领导支持、HR部门的创新气氛和IT能力、IS部门因素有显著的正相关。     

我国IT企业科研人才流失现状及预警模型构建

以文献研究法分析我国IT企业科研人才流失现状,应用德尔菲法从环境、组织、工作和个人几方面总结影响我国IT企业科研人才流失的关键因素,将层次分析法和因素评分法相结合构建适用于我国IT企业科研人才流失的预警模型,测评对象可能的得分为(0,100],划分为(0,25]、(25,50]、(50,75]、(75,100]4个区间,对应巨警、重警、中警、轻警4个危机等级,根据测评结果,有针对性地提出管理对策,以期减少IT企业科研人才流失。     

企业资源对供应商整合及财务绩效的影响

本文利用在中国制造企业调研获取的176份有效数据,借助基于PLS的结构方程建模技术,研究企业资源(信息技术、高层支持与战略采购)对供应商整合(供应商关注、供应商参与与供应商交流)及财务绩效的影响。实证研究结果表明:供应商关注同时得到三种内部资源的支持,供应商参与得到信息技术和高层支持的支持,而供应商交流仅得到战略采购的支持;供应商关注和供应商交流对财务绩效有边际显著的促进作用。     

Understanding career commitment of IT professionals: Perspectives of push-pull-mooring framework and investment model

Using push-pull-mooring framework and investment model as theoretical lenses, this study provides a compelling theoretical model that helps understand the important antecedents of career commitment of IT professionals. Especially, we examined the moderating role of IT career tenure. Data to test the hypotheses were drawn from a cross-sectional field study of MIS departments from top-1000 large-scale companies in Taiwan. The results generally supported the research model. Career satisfaction was the most important determinant of career commitment, followed by professional self-efficacy, threat of professional obsolescence and career investment. The moderating analysis revealed distinct patterns that IT professionals seemed to hold different attitudes about the careers at different stages. The career attitudes of senior IT professionals were largely driven by push factors. On the contrary, the expelling forces which driving people away from their current careers (push effects) and personal inhibitors and facilitators (mooring effects) seemed equally important to junior IT professionals on their attitudes toward committing to the IT career. Insight and implications on management strategy for IT/HR managers are discussed.     

上市高新企业高管薪酬及其效应的实证研究

高新企业是人力资本密集型企业,薪酬是发挥其人力资本优势的主要激励手段,高管人员的薪酬是公司治理机制的核心内容之一。本研究对上市高新产业企业的高管的薪酬进行了实证研究,发现对上市高新产业企业高管的薪酬水平有显著影响的因素是公司的规模、业绩、公司所处的经济区域以及公司的最大股东的持股比例,其中,公司的规模对高管的薪酬的影响最大。对高管的持股比例有显著影响的因素是公司的规模、业绩及公司的最大股东的持股比例。独立董事在董事会所占的比例、监事会规模并不影响高管的薪酬。高管的薪酬和公司的业绩显著正相关,高管的薪酬水平、持股比例和高管的薪酬差距明显影响着公司的业绩。本研究证实了高新企业高管薪酬的效应,建议对高新企业高管人员实行以市场为导向、以公司的业绩为驱动的薪酬制度,在规范的基础上大力推行股票期权计划,适当提高高管团队的薪酬差距,进一步完善高新企业的治理结构。     

IT专业技术人员的有效管理研究

IT专业技术人员作为一个特殊的群体，对其科学管理是企业面临的一个巨大挑战。通过分析得出了IT专业技术人员具有七个特点，并根据其特点提出了管理IT专业技术人员的七条建议。     

高技术企业研发效率与IT效率的关系*

探讨高科技企业信息技术（IT）投入效率与研发效率的相关性及其交互机理和协同障碍,以我国生物制药行业43家大型上市企业为实证研究对象,基于公开的企业年报数据开展相关分析,并以其他43家生物制药中小型上市企业相关数据作为补充验证。结果表明,我国大型生物制药上市企业的信息技术投入效率和研发效率均存在较大提升空间,其中,研发效率但信息技术效率偏低的企业应进一步提升信息技术投资效率和治理能力,而信息技术效率较高但研发效率较低的企业需要重视如何依托信息技术投入效率和治理能力优势进一步提高研发产出。
