Gaussian particle filter based pose and motion estimation

Determination of relative three-dimensional (3D) position, orientation, and relative motion between two reference frames is an important problem in robotic guidance, manipulation, and assembly as well as in other fields such as photogrammetry. A solution to pose and motion estimation problem that uses two-dimensional (2D) intensity images from a single camera is de- sirable for real-time applications. The difficulty in performing this measurement is that the process of projecting 3D object features to 2D images is a nonlinear transformation. In this paper, the 3D transformation is modeled as a nonlinear stochastic system with the state estimation providing six degrees-of-freedom motion and position values, using line features in image plane as measuring inputs and dual quaternion to represent both rotation and translation in a unified notation. A filtering method called the Gaussian particle filter (GPF) based on the particle filtering concept is presented for 3D pose and motion estimation of a moving target from monocular image sequences. The method has been implemented with simulated data, and simulation results are provided along with comparisons to the extended Kalman filter (EKF) and the unscented Kalman filter (UKF) to show the relative advantages of the GPF. Simulation results showed that GPF is a superior alternative to EKF and UKF.

With the help of the island repair effect on the Left Branch Condition (LBC),the derivation of Chinese sluicing can be illuminated.However,it fails to explain three unique properties of Chinese island repair related to the LBC involving (i) co vert antecedents,(ii) contrastive modifiers,and (iii) multiple islands including LBC structures.To capture the facts,a pseudosluic ing analysis is proposed which claims that sluiced clauses in Chinese are simply composed of a subject pro,an (optional) copula shi ’be’,and a wh-in-situ wh-remnant serving as a predicate.The pro cannot be interpreted as a concealed cleft structure but in stead functions as an implicit subject.

The term English as a Lingua Franca (ELF) refers to the English that is used as a contact language among speakers who come from different first language and cultural backgrounds. Although native speakers of English are not excluded from ELF interactions, they are a very small minority, given that English is the first language of only around 25 per cent of the world s Enlgish speakers (Crystal, 2003). More typically, then, speakers who engage in ELF interactions are non-native speakers of English communicating with each other. This means that ELF is rather different from EFL ( English as a Foreign Language), whose goal of learning is to be able to interact with native speakers of English, and whose norms are therefore those of English as a Native Language. The term EIL (or English as an International Language) is often used interchangeably with ELF. However, the latter has come to be

Science Letters:Assignment of CCR7 gene to chicken chromosome 27 by radiation hybrid panel mapping

The protein encoded by CC chemokine receptor 7 (CCR7) is a member of the G protein-coupled receptor family. This receptor was identified as a gene induced by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), and is thought to be a mediator of EBV effects on B lymphocytes. This receptor is expressed in various lymphoid tissues and activates B and T lymphocytes. It has been shown to control the migration of memory T cells to inflamed tissues, as well as stimulate dendritic cell maturation. To map the CCR7 gene in chicken chromosome, a 6 000 rads chicken-hamster radiation hybrid panel (ChickRH6) was used. PCR of samples from ChickRH6 revealed that the location of CCR7 gene is linked to the maker SEQ0347 (6 cR away) with LOD score of 16.6 and that the marker SEQ0347 is located on chromosome 27 at 27 cR of RH (radiation hydrid) map. We compared the corresponding human mRNA sequence with the predicted coding sequence of chicken CCR7 gene, and found that the assembled contig shared a high percentage of similarity with that of the human gene.     

Water quality forecast through application of BP neural network at Yuqiao reservoir

This paper deals with the study of a water quality forecast model through application of BP neural network technique and GUI (Graphical User Interfaces) function of MATLAB at Yuqiao reservoir in Tianjin. To overcome the shortcomings of traditional BP algorithm as being slow to converge and easy to reach extreme minimum value,the model adopts LM (Leven-berg-Marquardt) algorithm to achieve a higher speed and a lower error rate. When factors affecting the study object are identified,the reservoir's 2005 measured values are used as sample data to test the model. The number of neurons and the type of transfer functions in the hidden layer of the neural network are changed from time to time to achieve the best forecast results. Through simulation testing the model shows high efficiency in forecasting the water quality of the reservoir.
