英语教学中的ESL与EFL的差异

英语教学在我国受到越来越多的重视,很多语言学家和教育工作者为选取适合我国国情的英语教学模式进行了诸多探讨,ESL和EFL成了主要研究课题。就其本质来说,ESL和EFL是两种截然不同的英语教学模式。     

Analysis of English Majors’ Expressiveness of Chinese Culture in English

Currently English has spread around the world so extensively that it has become a link language across many cultures.Since 1980s,China saw a warm discussion of language,culture and cross-cultural communication.An increasing number of researchers and educators began to be aware of the vital importance of culture in EFL teaching and learning and cultural content has been available in classrooms teaching.However,the development of English teaching and cross-cultural communicative competence is target culture-oriented and the ability of expressiveness of home culture in English is almost ignored.Thus,the thesis seeks to collect the students’ perceptions on expressiveness of Chinese culture in English and the culture teaching in EFL in China.     

Redefining the Role of English as a Foreign Language in the Curriculum in the Global Context

The English language has become a global language, a development which has influenced English language teaching and learning throughout the world. This influence has occurred more impressively in China than in other parts of the world as a result of the breathtaking pace at which China has integrated with global economies. Increasing industrial, economic and multicultural development has spurred language educators in China to question the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) curriculum in relation to the role of English, particularly in secondary schools. In this paper we present a brief review of the role of English as a global language in the Chinese context, a context which is now to be seen as a global one. The new curriculum has been progressively rolled out in Chinese schools since 2001. We highlight the redefinition of the role of English in the new EFL curriculum in Chinese secondary schools in particular and the significance of this as it presents new features of the new EFL curriculum as part of a developing research field, based on a comparison with the 1993 EFL curriculum. In this study, we focus on policy statements and curriculum documents as well as published previous research in order to understand the redefining of the role of English as a foreign language in the new EFL curriculum.     

老一代优秀高校英语教师发展因素研究

为了进一步理解我国老一代优秀高校英语教师的发展因素,我们对我国某外语院校的30位优秀离退休教授进行了访谈.研究表明,老一代优秀高校英语教师的发展因素包括新教师选拔、新教师业务培训、老教师传帮带、教师自我反思等环节.对老一代优秀高校英语教师的发展因素进行研究,有助于挖掘和保护老一代教师留下的宝贵财富,并有效指导当前英语教师教育的改革与实践.     

从语法范畴视角解释日本学生英语书面语错误

本文在语言学研究理论基础上,通过分析日本英语学习者书面语中的典型错误,从数、性、格、人称、时态和词序六个方面重点讨论了由于语法范畴的差异性导致的语言错误,呈现了日本英语学习者在语言学习过程中的中介语发展进程,解释了他们的中介语特征。研究结果为进一步的语言研究提供了语言事实材料,同时也加深了外语教师对语言内部结构的理解,从而探寻有效的外语教学途径。     

Contemporary Development in English Listening Instruction

Listening is an essential communication skill which occupies a significant position in most language tests in China which are intended for EFL(English as foreign language) learners,from children to adults.Consequently,how to make people in ESL(English as a second language) or EFL context be active learners especially for the language beginners is not always an easy work.This paper is an attempt at introducing a new development in listening instruction along with evaluating whether this new approach can be applied in daily teaching in China.     

评克拉申习得和学得理论在我国外语教学中的不可行性

克拉申外语教学理论在世界各国颇有影响,尤其是著名假说习得-学得说在我国产生了广泛影响,而这种假说的合理性一直受到学术界普遍的怀疑与挑战,因此从多个角度评析该假说在我国外语教学中的不可行性,有望能为我国外语教学法的改革创新有所启发。     

中国英语教学与研究的新构架：感知、实践与范式

本文通过对英语教学与研究相关文献的审视,指出了当前中国英语教学与研究所存在的误区,即忽视或摒弃自身语言文化和身份特性。在教学中,刻意模仿第一语言英语,试图达到英语为母语说话者准确、流利、自如地使用英语的程度。在科研中,一味效仿西方英语研究模式,其关注点往往是有待完善的学生英语。与此同时,本文结合中国英语教学与实践的现状,对中国式英语进行反思,在此基础上,对中国式英语重新定义。运用传统的中国儒学原理,并融入相应的西方学习理论和语言学习理论,笔者提出了全新的中国式英语教学模式,旨在于帮助中国英语学习者在本土化双语学习语境中更有效地掌握和运用语言知识,提高语言能力,达到最大的学习效果。更重要的是,以儒学原理为指导的教学模式,将使我们在教学和科研过程中进一步完善自我,不失民族及文化特征,对学生和教师都提出了一个明确可达到的学习和培养目标。     

Language Teacher’s Information Literacy in the ICT context

With the rapid development of Information and Communication Technology(ICT),the modern information and communica tion media have been changing the rationale of learning and teaching.Under such circumstances,a person’s,especially an educator’s in formation literacy plays an important role in their personal and professional development.This essay discusses the influence of the new challenge on EFL(English as a foreign language) teachers’professional development.EFL teachers should be fully empowered to be infor mation literate language educators in the curriculum innovation of TEFL(teaching English as a foreign language).It is suggested that EFL teachers’awareness,attitudes,and personal needs should be taken into account in the process of integrating ICT into their professional practice and self-development.     

大学英语听力研究主题与研究方法十年述评

采用计量和调查的方法,统计了《中国期刊全文数据库》1995-2004年我国8种外语类核心期刊上发表的有关大学英语听力研究的论文100篇,分析此类论文的主题分布和研究方法现状,观察他们在各个主题的具体分布情况,在主题和研究方法上的数量变化和发展趋势,分析这种变化和发展的语言研究与教学研究背景,并指出英语听力教学研究所存在和亟待解决的问题。     

Native-English Speaking Instructors Teaching Writing in China

This article presents two separate but related studies on native-English speaking (NES) instructors’ teaching writing practice in Chinese universities. One study is a case study that explores the teaching practice of three NES instructors’ writing instruction in a southern Chinese university as well as students’ responses to their practice. Another study takes on an auto-ethnographic approach, in which the researcher retrospectively examines his own writing instruction as a college NES instructor in China with his new understanding of Bakhtin’s dialogic theory and theories of multi/biliteracy. The pairing of these two studies, methodologically and conceptually, illustrates the NES instructors’ teaching experiences in China from both an outsider and an insider’s perspectives. The findings of the studies indicate that one of the key factors that hinder the effectiveness in teaching writing in English as a foreign language (EFL) contexts is the doctrine of ‘native fallacy’ widespread in the EFL field. This is an ethnocentric view of treating English as a hegemonic practice that drives EFL students to reach native-like English proficiency in both their English speaking and writing. The article concludes with a call for a paradigm shift in teaching and learning in the EFL field, which requires fundamental changes in the view of English from ‘native English’ to World Englishes or an international language for today’s globalized community.     

远程英语学习焦虑与对策

焦虑作为影响外语学习的主要情感因素之一,三十年来一直是研究的热点。然而,相关研究基本上是以常规外语学习者作为对象,而对远程外语学习焦虑的研究则凤毛麟角。本文是远程英语学习的情感因素的部分研究成果。本研究采用问卷调查和访谈相结合的方法,旨在了解电大英语专业学生的学习焦虑,包括影响学习动力的因素、学生的自我效能感、学习焦虑的具体表现以及学生应对焦虑的做法,并讨论了研究结果对进一步提高电大远程英语教学质量的启示。研究发现,有近一半的学生在电大学习期间由于课程学习任务重、考试难度大、不适应远程学习教材的编写形式和教师方面的原因而学习动力下降,学习效能感普遍较低,尤其是在元认知技能方面。他们的主要焦虑表现集中在与词汇、语法和文体/体裁方面相关的产出性技能上。学生能通过多种途径应对学习焦虑,但是他们似乎更加偏爱自我求助,不喜欢求助他人。本文还从办学机构、教师和学生的角度探讨了如何有效控制或消除学生的学习焦虑的初步设想。     

An Investigation on Cross-cultural Communication between ForeignTeachers and Chinese Students in College EFL Classes

Nowadays,more and more foreign teachers have come to or been invited to China,joining in the English education cause,especially in colleges and universities.Using the methods of questionnaires and interviews,this paper conducts a survey of three foreign teachers and one hundred Chinese English majors at Qufu Normal University,aiming to explore their different perceptions and attitudes towards varied aspects of cross-cultural communication in native EFL classes.The quantitative and qualitative data obtained from the survey were both processed and analyzed from such categories as "teaching contents","teaching attitude","teaching methods","classroom interaction" and "cultural background".The findings suggested that intercultural communication plays a significant role in the process of English language teaching and learning at college native EFL classes.     

试论高校英语教师加强"双文化"意识的必要性

高校英语教师应使语言教学与文化教学并重.高校英语教师的能力水平不能仅仅局限于"双语"的层面上,更要延伸至"双文化"的高度.本文拟就高校英语教师加强"双文化"意识的必要性做一些探讨,以进一步推动我国高校英语教学的研究,并对英语教师的发展有所指导.     

从ESL和EFL的区别反证"听说领先"原则

最近几年，“听说领先、读写跟上”原则似乎成了我国英语教学的指导性原则。笔认为这一教学原则既不客观，也不科学。如果再不予以纠正，会对我国的英语教学产生误导性影响。本从ESL和EFL的区别驳斥了“听说领先、读写跟上”原则在中国，并从我国实情出发，根据外语教学的客观规律和英语专家们的经验之谈进一步论证了我国的英语教学应始终以读写为本。     

大学英语教学中的文化教学

英语文化教学应该被带入中国的大学英语课堂教学之中。对英语文化的了解能够帮助中国学生加深对英语语言的理解,并能帮助他们能够更有效地运用英语进行交流。本文介绍了文化的概念,并把文化与语言的教学联系在一起。本文回顾了文化教学的历史以及目前在中国的大学中英语教育的改革现状,解释了为什么要在中国的大学英语课堂教学中融入文化教学的原因,同时,也提出了如何在大学英语课堂教学中融入文化教学,提出了一些可行性措施。作者还根据自己多年的教学经验,阐述了在大学英语课堂教学中融入文化教学的困难所在,并提出解决办法。以此期望能够对今后的英语教学有所借鉴。     

Cultivating critical global citizens through secondary EFL education: a case study of mainland China

This paper examines the enactment of critical literacy pedagogy in secondary English language teaching in the face of globalisation. This qualitative case study signals that global citizenship education (GCE) and English as a foreign language (EFL) teaching can converge through offering equitable and globally contextualised learning opportunities. The overarching themes presented here challenge the dominance of instrumentalist orientations of EFL education in mainland China today while mobilising pedagogical choices that affirm students' local and lived experiences in relation to international socio-political issues. Findings provide EFL educators nuanced insights into how critical global literacies are extended through critical understandings of literacies, interconnections from a personal to a global level, and opportunities for social actions on multicultural issues, thus fostering globally competent and bilingual learners who critically engage with the contested terrain of an increasingly globalised world.     

“第二人生”中的情境认知与语境化外语教学

＂第二人生＂是2003年由林登实验室开发并推出的基于因特网的三维虚拟世界。通过让学习者在模拟现实世界的情境中完成真实的任务,＂第二人生＂为情境学习提供了最理想的环境。在技术上,它为将情境认知与学习理论应用于EFL（英语作为外语）教学提供了实践支持。从情境认知与学习理论的视角分析,当前国内EFL学习环境中存在社会文化语境缺失的局限性。要发挥＂第二人生＂应用于国内EFL教学的潜能,在施行语境化外语教学时应遵循个性化学习、同步性学习、任务型学习、过程性评价等原则。     

公共英语教学、专业英语教学和双语教学的现状和改革

我国公共英语教学、专业英语教学和双语教学还存在诸多问题。公共英语教学是专业英语教学和双语教学的基础,专业英语可以促进双语教学,专业英语教学和双语教学也会促进学生对公共英语的学习。应理顺三者教学间的关系,在课程设置、教学内容等方面进行改革,以实现我国大学英语教学改革的目标。     

衔接理论与大学英语阅读教学

在英语听说读写四大技能中,阅读占有极其重要的地位。提高学生的阅读理解能力,在很大程度上是提高了他们运用所学外语的全部技能。将衔接理论运用于大学英语教学具体实践,可知阅读教学中有意识地运用衔接理论对学生进行阅读策略训练,能够有效地提高阅读理解水平。
