Shanghai Museum     
Shanghai Museum was founded in 1952 and originally housed in the former horseracing club in Nanjing West Road. In 1996, the museum moved into the current site in People's Square in the heart of the city and reopened to public. The unique architectural form of the new building, featuring a round top and a square foundation and symbolizing the traditional Chinese philosophical concept that the square earth is under the round sky, is an outstanding combination of tradition and modernity and presents an extraordinary visual effect.  相似文献

Shexiang Tomb & Museum of Yi Ethnic Group, or briefly called “Shexiang Museum” is an important museum on folk and ethnic culture of Yi people in Guizhou Province.Shexiang (1361-1396) was a celebrated woman chieftain of Yi ethnic group. Beijing Palace Museum not only boasts a collection of more than 1.5 million piecessets of cultural relics, but also preserves many traditional Chinese techniques used for conserving and restoring cultural relics. Such techniques include framing ancient paintings and calligraphy, restoring and replicating bronze works, restoring ancient clocks, replicating ancient paintings and calligraphy, sculpting and enchasing of gems and jades, restoring ancient lacquer wares and wooden furniture, etc. With centuries of history, these techniques were passed down from genera- tion to generation. After continuous improvement and development, each traditional technique has formed a complete process. Laboratories for analytical testing and scientific research were also set up in the museum to provide the best methods for restoration and conservation so that the longevity of cultural relics can be guaranteed. In recent years, restoration experts have de- veloped and improved the flle of restoration.
