本文探讨了当前推进信息化建设过程中提出的一个重要问题,即如何认识和处理好信息技术、信息应用系统和信息资源三者的关系.作者认为,信息技术是信息化的基础,信息应用系统是信息化建设的主阵地,信息资源开发利用则是信息化建设的核心任务和高级阶段.三者都很重要,随着国家信息化水平的提高,工作重心应当转移到信息资源开发利用方面来.

中美图书馆的互动

中美图书馆的交流始自19世纪下半叶。在20世纪二三十年代，中国图书馆事业出现新局面，它与美国图书馆的交流也渐活跃，抗日战争期间，中美图书馆友谊加深。1972年中美关系开始正常化以来，双方图书馆的互动日益发扬光大。     

莫理循藏书与东洋文库

英国人莫理循(GeorgeErnestMorrison)旅居中国多年，在华期间他搜集了大量与中国和东亚地区相关的中、西文书籍资料，其中不乏珍品。他的藏书在当时颇有名气，曾为许多中外学者提供服务。同时莫理循利用他的藏书结交了许多中外政府官员，以便其搜集新闻情报，为他带来了名誉和利益。令人遗憾的是，由于种种原因，这些藏书没能够留在中国，而是被日本买去，成为东洋文库的核心部分。这是我国学术界一个不小的损失。

The development of wireless telecommunications and local governments' policy responses: The U.S. case

The increasing popularity of wireless telephony creates a new set of challenges for local governments as the need for corresponding wireless facilities occurs in direct proportion to this growth. In particular, the influx of new wireless telecommunications providers poses significant challenges for local governments as they carry out their traditional zoning and land use functions.     

The development of a U.S. and generalized ethnocentrism scale

The two studies reported here deal with the development and validation of a generalized ethnocentrism scale. In Study 1 two scales, including USE, which was designed to assess ethnocentrism in the United States, and GENE, which was designed to measure generalized ethnocentrism, were administered to 396 participants. Their responses were subjected to exploratory factor analysis. In Study 2, the USE and a modified version of GENE along with seven predictor variables were administered to 369 participants. Their responses were also factor analyzed and interim versions of the USE and GENE were generated for possible use. The results indicate that the GENE is more predictive of the seven predictor variables and that the USE may be measuring a somewhat different construct (e.g., patriotism).
