Nowaday, going abroad to further education has gained the greatest popularity among chinese students. Majority of these oversea students may suffer from some problems in their cross-cultural classrooms, even though they are excellent in their own country. Chinese learners are frequently labeled as"passive learners", compared with other foreign learners. The teachers in foreign countries may also play a sharply different role in teaching. These problems have already attracted some education experts and researchers’attention and a few research programs and experiments have been conducted. This paper will adopt Tweed and Lehman (2002)’s Confucian-Socratic framework to systematically analyze student and teacher roles in Chinese culture and communicative norms of the students and teachers in Chinese contexts. A better cross-clutural classroom will be built on the basis of foreign teachers and chinese students’mutual efforts on understanding each other’s culture background.  相似文献

In the paper’ Development and social competence after two years for students enrolled in inclusive and self-contained educational programs’, forty students in two groups are assessed across two years of inclusive and self-contained educational programming respectively in order to compare the outcomes on measures of child development and social competence. In this paper, the educational research mentioned above will be conceptualised from three aspects. Firstly, the foundations of the research will be identified from an epistemological and ontological perspective. Secondly, a critical appraisal will be given regarding the relationships between research,theory and practice in the paper. The role of textbooks,as one important channel between teachers and students,has always aroused scholars’interests,but what indeed are the roles of textbook for students and teachers? This paper aims to evaluate a listening textbook that is used by English major university students in China.Three research questions are proposed which are:(1) What are the students’per ceptions about the listening textbook? (2) What are the teachers’opinions about the listening textbook? (3) To what extent do students and teachers perceptions match? In order to answer these three research questions,questionnaires were designed for both students and teachers to obtain the data.This study is supported both qualitatively and quantitatively.The data of this research suggested that both students and teachers have found advantages of this listening textbook,which they may find helpful for their learning and teaching,but they are also not satisfied with some aspects of the textbook,which they think need further improvement.The students’and teachers’opinions to some extent have reached some agreement about the textbook,but students may not be so enthusiastic about the textbook,while the teachers may show much reliance on the text book.This study has its limitations,but it also provides some insights for teachers and textbook writers.  相似文献

Based on the requirements of college English curriculum,college students should have natural and fluent pronunciation and intonation in their oral English.Students’ability to communicate successfully has become an ultimate goal for schools.Therefore,to make some requirements on English teachers’correction strategies toward students’oral errors in the procedure of teaching becomes necessary.Through researching,analyzing the listed examples and making an investigation,the author finds out that there are some problems in English teachers’attitudes and treatment toward college students’oral errors.The author hopes that her analyses and findings could help the teachers to conduct a more appropriate correction strategies which may be helpful for the teachers to manage their classrooms effectively,thus to eliminate the frustrating feelings of the students and to facilitate an efficient interaction between the teachers and the students.  相似文献

In the past, the teachers are traditionally regarded as information givers; Knowledge flows only one way from teachers to students, while the students are usually considered as information receivers and they are very passive and boring. A specific application of task-based learning in teaching vocabulary to young learners and a complete task cycle using role play to present vocabulary in China’s private language school would be described in the study. The participants aged between 7 and 9 are thought to be starters according to their language competence in Common European Framework of Reference for language. The rationale for stages in the task cycle will be fully explored with reference to Piaget and Vygotsky’s theory in teaching young learners. The advantages of the adoption of TBL with young learners will be illustrated and some possible problems in implementing TBL in China, a representative country of Confucian-heritage culture would also be discussed in the paper. The study indicates that young learners in China are quite welcome this new approach in their English classes, but the targeted learners’ age and background information need to be taken into consideration when actually implement this approach.  相似文献

The goal of teaching English speaking is to improve students’ communicative efficiency, or make students speak the target language clearly, coherently, accurately and fluently (Xu, 2005). However, in China, a number of students in an English speaking class tend to be passive and reluctant to speak out or be singled out publicly mainly due to their high anxiety, which, of course, becomes a significant constraint on improving their English proficiency. Therefore, how to create a relaxed atmosphere with a sense of security in the English speaking class to alleviate Chinese learners’ anxiety and to provide them with as many opportunities as possible to practice speaking English and improve their English proficiency is one of the central tasks for language teachers.his paper will firstly outline my teaching context in China in physical, pedagogical, institutional and personal aspects. This will be followed by the definition and classification of language learning anxiety, and the analysis of various factors contributing to foreign language learners’ anxiety as well as some suggestions of how to reduce the learners’ anxiety in the oral class according to the current literature. Finally, some applications will be presented in my teaching context in the hope of decreasing Chinese students’ anxiety to enhance their English speaking proficiency.  相似文献

In the process of classroom education, setting questions in class is an important teaching method, which is used in the whole teaching activity and acts as the link between the thoughts of teachers and students. Hence, creating a wisdom class and using according questions to aid the class are of great significance to both students and teachers. In this paper, 40 elementary students from the 9th grade and 10 of their teachers were studied and the result showed that learning requirements facing to the whole class and students' learning beliefs are essential principles, and questions should be set by having an exhaustive understanding of the textbook, giving previous homework, creating a thinking atmosphere, and setting a proper difficulty for the students. The proper time to set questions is when the old knowledge and new knowledge of the student conflict in the awareness of the student, when the teacher wants to spread thought, and when the teacher wants to make a conclusion.  相似文献

This thesis mainly focuses on the significance of nonverbal communication in college English teaching. On the one hand English teachers should emphasize to cultivate the students’ nonverbal communication competence while training their verbal communication ability, on the other teachers should pay attention to the use of nonverbal communication to teach effectively in college English classroom. The author illustrates the topic from four aspects: body language, paralanguage, object language and environmental language.
