Books for Younger Secondary School Children in a Multi-racial Classroom

In this article I want to discuss some conclusions I have reached about using books with younger pupils in a multi-racial classroom. I shall have to make some general points about underlying approaches. Since I work in a general studies programme with first year pupils, I also want to comment in passing on some implications for teaching in history and geography.     

Research into School Television

In the field of research into school television there exists at present no adequate overall grasp of the aims that should be set. I am referring here mainly to public television broadcasts for schools. Admittedly a great number of starts have been made in Europe; there have been many experiments concerning school television broadcasts and there have been a good many theoretical discussions—but as a whole the situation is far from satisfactory.     

Television Viewing Pattern of Primary School Children and Its Relationship to Academic Performance and Cognitive Skills

Television is becoming more and more widespread in India and teachers, as well as parents, are seriously worried about its impact on young children. The research presented in this article looks at the influence of long periods of television viewing on children's performance at school and their cognitive competence.     

Pre‐operational Children and Educational Television

Statements made about educational television and learning are usually general, but they should refer to specific developmental stages of thought and mental development. Evaluation of the medium's efficacy in pre‐operational children's learning has received scant attention. Some suggestions are made whereby production and teachers’ use of programmes can align to Piaget's theory, but this is insufficient. Scope remains for ample research, but the immediate needs are for producers to embark on more ambitious and enterprising programmes and for teachers to examine whether they are providing adequately for pre‐operational children's learning from existing practices with educational television.

作为一种新的举措,2008年上海尝试把农民工同住子女列入了地区中等职业学校的招生范围.这项新政策(试点)的实施效果及其政策执行后的后续效应究竟如何,需要开展调查研究才能获知.本文是基于对上海招收农民工同住子女的中职学校、在读农民工同住子女、在沪适龄农民工同住子女情况调查所作的分析,并试图为政策的完善提供参考意见.

初中起点高等专科的开办将会给电大教育营造新的发展空间,带来新的发展机遇。本文通过调研与思考,提出开办这一教育要突出“新”,注重“活”,讲求“实”,以把握发展机遇．改进教学工作,确保教育质量与培养规格,促进电大教育事业的进一步发展。

新加坡中小学生国家认同教育的实践路径与启示

新加坡在外来文化的冲击、民族认同和国家认同的冲突以及中小学生国家意识较为淡薄的背景下,尤为注重国家认同教育。新加坡国家认同教育路径主要包含三个方面:设立相关机构和发布相关政策,将国家认同教育渗透到中小学课程中,开展丰富多彩的实践活动。借鉴新加坡中小学生国家认同教育的实践经验,我国要进一步发挥政府在国家认同教育中的主导作用;加强国家认同教育在课程中的融入;注重学校与政府、社区的合作,丰富和优化国家认同教育实践活动。
