Examining the Causal Relationships Among Selected Antecedents of Responsible Environmental Behavior

Abstract

Attitude models have been widely applied to natural resource management to ensure responsible environmental behavior. For a variety of applications, the causality among selected antecedents, such as knowledge of environmental issues, locus of control, attitude, personal responsibility, and intention to act on responsible environmental behavior has not yet been tested empirically. A hypothesized causal model based on Hine's (1986) model on responsible environmental behavior was developed. The data from 523 visitors to the urban forest trail in the Kwang-Reung Arboretum, Korea, during September 1995 were used for testing the suggested causal model. Path analysis using the LISREL program tested the model fit and statistical effects of variables. In terms of the effects on intention to act, locus of control and attitude are more important than knowledge and personal responsibility. Our findings suggest that in order to enhance responsible environmental behavior, environmental education and interpretation systems need to focus on changing the internal locus of control. Several recommendations, limitations, and directions for future research are discussed.

高等职业教育本科与专科的主要边界研究

高职本科与高职专科同属于高等职业教育,考察二者的主要边界应该以它们的培养目标为起点。高职本科的人才培养目标可以概括为培养面向现代社会的高新技术产业,在生产、建设、管理、服务等一线岗位,直接从事解决实际问题、维持工作正常运行的高等技术应用性专门人才。因而,高职本科人才的知识结构具有理论知识与实践能力的双重特征,而高职专科的人才知识结构则相对突出知识的够用与操作的技能性。为此,它们在人才规格、专业开发、课程体系和培养模式等四个主要因素上存在一定的边界。

休闲垂钓旅游具有相当大的发展潜力,将成为一种重要的旅游活动类型.本文运用实地勘察、社会调查等研究方法,对湖南省长沙和株洲两地居民的休闲垂钓旅游行为特点进行了细致分析,对休闲垂钓地经营状况进行了初步研究,并给出了一些休闲垂钓旅游地开发的建议.

Identifying Indicators of Behavior Change: Insights From Wildfire Education Programs

Environmental educators are challenged to document behavior changes, because change rarely depends solely on outcomes of education programs, but on many factors. An analysis of 15 communities in the United States that have increased their preparedness for wildfire allowed us to explore how education programs encouraged individual and community change. Agency-sponsored adult educational programs helped communities change their philosophy about firefighting, pass ordinances that restrict individual property rights, and empower residents to reduce their wildfire risk. This article explores several outcomes of these programs and offers suggested indicators of change that might be useful for education program evaluation.

Tallebudgera: A First Experience in Environmental Education

Abstract

The environment as an issue has been prominently before the public for almost two decades. Yet the question of how much the public knows about their environment or about environmental issues has seldom been considered in the research literature. Using data from a statewide survey, this paper examines the general level of public environmental knowledge and analyzes the sociodemographic characteristics correlated with such knowledge. The results indicate that public environmental knowledge remains painfully low, and that the major correlates of environmental knowledge are education, income, and sex. The need for the development of environmental knowledge scales that can be applied across a variety of research is discussed.     

州立奖学金对美国高等教育入学机会的影响

从20世纪80年代以来,美国大学生资助政策发生了变化,州政府资助的主要方式从基于需要的助学金转移到基于优秀的奖学金,州奖学金项目获得极大关注。据此,美国很多州设立了本州的奖学金项目,这给学生的高等教育入学机会造成了极大的消极影响。同时,也给我国提供了一些借鉴和启示。     

国际化教育对大学生主动环境行为的影响研究

在国际化教育成为主流的背景下,高校对学生主动环境行为培养具有重要的作用。随着社会对国际化人才需求的日益提升,我国高校人才培养体系中尚缺乏环境意识与环境行为的相关教学环节,因此,本文旨在探索高等教育加入国际化因素后对大学生环境行为更深层次的影响。以能源类高校学生为样本,通过对环境行为理论的分析,确定大学生清洁能源意识及环境可持续发展意识、环境行为等相关因素,收集数据并建立相关模型,利用Spearman相关分析,检验模型的准确程度。基于此模型得出,国际化教育能够通过影响学生的清洁能源使用意识对其环境行为产生影响,进而提出通过提升国际化教育水平的方式,促进高校学生主动性环境行为的建议。     

Social Work in Higher Education: Internships in Opportunity Programs

ABSTRACT

Field education is essential to the development of professional social workers. Despite the significant overlap in social work’s and higher education’s missions and values, there is a scarcity of social work internships specifically in higher education settings. The placement of social work interns in institutions of higher education provides a setting where they can develop new knowledge and skills and increase their capacity to support college students toward academic success. This conceptual article discusses the role of social work in higher education and provides a model social work internship in an opportunity program, including its creation, development, challenges, outcomes, and future direction.     

澳大利亚堪培拉大学教师教育方案管窥

澳大利亚教师教育方案是培养本国学前、小学和中学教师的课程方案,类似于我国师范院校的教学计划。该国职前教师教育方案有五种培养模式,单学位和双学位为两种主要模式,此外还有其他三种模式。单学位模式适用于学前和小学教师的培养,双学位模式适用于中学教师的培养。该国教师教育方案的特点是结构清晰、种类多样、形式灵活、受到各级政府的重视;随着社会的发展而不断更新。

中外合作办学开展至今,已成为"我国高等教育的重要组成部分"。其政策发展经历了三个阶段,取得了一定的成效也存在一些执行偏差。鉴于此,通过分析2012年全国中外合作办学项目数据,以政策执行的视角,透视了中外合作办学项目执行中存在的问题,并提出针对性的建议。     

The Impact of Teacher Education Programs on In-service Teachers in China and USA

Beliefs about knowledge, learning and teaching are assumed to impact teachers＇ practice （Brownlee, 2004; N. Entwistle, Skinner, D. Entwistle, ＆ Orr, 2000）. A change of beliefs is an important step for teacher learning, but it is often seen as difficult if not impossible （Cooney, Shealy, ＆ Arvold, 1998）. This study investigated the impact some teacher education programs from China and the USA had on the teachers＇ beliefs and teaching strategies and how these teachers integrated the acquired knowledge and teaching strategies in their practice. Researchers were particularly interested in investigating teachers＇ ability and willingness to use the strategies congruent with constructivist learning theory in their classrooms.     

浅谈中外合作办学项目下的雅思阅读教学

随着中外合作办学项目的升温,越来越多的中国学生选择出国留学,雅思成为他们必须要参加的一门考试。雅思阅读有生词量大、文章专业性强、篇幅长等特点。学生因为词汇量小,句型结构不会分析,阅读习惯的不良以及英语阅读焦虑心理等导致成绩不高。因此学生应该通过猜词、构词法等扩大单词量,掌握略读、扫读等阅读技巧,教师也应该对学生进行阅读教学的心理激励,尽快提高学生的雅思阅读成绩。
