略论规范教学指导方法强化英语听力水平

语言学习的重要目的是交际。在信息剧增、国际交际日益频繁的今天,英语作为一种语言工具,其听力技能的掌握不仅是英语测试的需要,更是英语知识的实际运用和英语综合能力的体现。英语听力水平的不断提高对促进学生其它各项英语能力的发展具有重要意义。鉴于此,在英语教学中,教师应该根据学生的实际情况采用合理的听力练习方法和制定科学的听力学习策略。     

基于AWL的大学学术英语词汇与阅读教学

以Coxhead学术英语词汇表(AWL)为基础,探讨基于语料库方法的词汇分类方法,以及学术英语词汇表与学术阅读能力之间的关系。结合目前大学英语课程设置和教学的实际情况,提出开设大学学术英语系列课程,指导大学生通过英语学习促进其专业能力的发展。作为学术英语课程的先行课程,大学学术英语阅读课程将学术英语词汇作为积极词汇列入教学重点,并结合学术词汇、句法、语篇多个层面进行教学内容设计。     

浅谈大学公共英语的阅读教学

抓好阅读教学是提高学生英语水平的关键.要提高学生的阅读能力一定要做到以下二点：语言学习与背景文化知识积累并重;语言学习与阅读技巧训练并重.     

A prediction model of foreign language reading proficiency based on reading time and text complexity

In textbooks, foreign （second） language reading proficiency is often evaluated through comprehension questions. In case, authentic texts are used as reading material, such questions should be prepared by teachers. However, preparing appropriate questions may be a very demanding task for teachers. This paper introduces a method for automatically evaluating proficiency, wherein comprehension questions are not required. This method assesses a learner＇s reading proficiency on the basis of the linguistic features of the text and the learner＇s reading time. A reading model following this method predicted reading proficiency with an ER （error rate） of 18.2%. This ER is lower than those of models proposed in previous studies. Furthermore, the ER of the authors＇ reading model for various learner groups classified by their RS （reading speeds） was examined. The result of this examination showed that the error rate was the lowest for the group of learners with fast RS.

Podcasting in a virtual English for academic purposes course: learner motivation

In this study we explored the effect of podcasting on the motivation of the students in an online English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course at the university level (N?=?179). By using a mixed-method approach, we analyzed the data collected on the learners' impressions about using podcasts as a learning tool. The particular aim of this study was to help learners do research in English in their specific academic field. In their EAP course the learners are expected to study various types of English texts, listen to media and give lectures on their academic findings. The findings of this study revealed that males found podcasting significantly more relevant and attractive than females. Females, on the other hand, were significantly more satisfied with using podcasts in their EAP class. Further, results showed that learners who had no prior experience of podcasts for academic purposes outperformed the learners with medium experience. For further qualitative investigation, several sources were used for data collection including interviews with the learners, the course forums, emails, the class groupblog, podcasts and open-ended questions. Overall podcasting proved highly effective in motivating the students to learn in the online environment.

国家教育部颁发的新的英语课程标准吸收了现代语言学习理论的最新成果,强调“使语言学习的过程成为学生形成积极的情感态度、主动思维和大胆实践的过程。”从这个意义上出发,阅读不应是传统意义上的接收性技能r(eceptiveskill),而是一个积极主动地思考理解及获取信息的过程,同时也是作者与阅读者双方参与的言语交际、思想交流的过程。     

Toward a set of design principles for decoding training: A systematic review of studies of English as a foreign/second language listening education

Listening is a major challenge for many English as a foreign language (EFL)/English as a second language (ESL) learners. Many learners find it difficult to immediately process and segment an ongoing stream of sounds. Decoding training is one of interventions that have been used to assist EFL/ESL learners. This paper reviewed empirical studies of the effectiveness of decoding training in developing EFL/ESL learners' listening. We examined the following four major factors: (a) the types of instructional activities used; (b) the effects of decoding training on student listening outcomes; (c) the main instructional enablers of decoding training; and (d) the main instructional barriers to decoding training. The two activities most frequently used for decoding training were dictation and pronunciation instruction. A meta-analysis of 13 intervention studies showed an overall significant effect in favor of decoding training over non-decoding instruction for listening education (Hedges's g = 0.553, CI = 0.348–0.759, 95% confidence interval, p = 0.000), with no evidence of publication bias. Two theoretical frameworks, cognitive learning theory and the attention, relevance, confidence, and satisfaction model, were used to synthesize 33 studies to analyze the common elements that promote and hinder the development of learners' decoding skills. We proposed a set of design principles for decoding training that are expected to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of decoding training in EFL/ESL listening education.     

论大学生英语语感培养

语感是一种复杂的多层次的心理语言现象。在多年的大学英语教学过程中,笔者深感语感在大学英语学习中的重要性,因而认为大学英语教学应把对学生英语语感的培养置于首位。结合英语教学及学生的实际情况,笔者主要从听、读两个方面入手,对学生英语语感的培养进行了探讨。

通过教学反思和学生的教学反馈意见,基于英语阅读教学基本要求和学生对英语阅读技能的渴望。研究在高职英语阅读教学中运用自下而上模型、自上而下模型和交互式模型三种阅读模型的理论强化学生的英语阅读技能。

英语听力教学在英语教学中有着重要的地位与作用，学生听力的好坏，将直接影响学生学习英语的综合语言能力，关系着学生英语语言技能的掌握程度。但教学的现状，往往是学生英语听力的水平大大低于该学科的其他能力，因而英语听力教学便成为英语教学中的重点和难点。改进英语听力教学，必须充分发挥老师的主导作用，采用灵活多变的教学方法，培养提高学生的学习兴趣和学习主动性，帮助学生掌握英语听力的技能与技巧，从而提高学生学习英语的综合素质，为以后熟练地掌握运用英语的语言能力打下良好的基础。

探索了系统化的语言学习策略训练与学习者成绩的相关性.作者通过对两组被试(SBI教学/非SBI教学)进行为期10周的英语听力策略训练,采用问卷调查及大学英语四级听力测试形式,运用了相关分析法及T检验,得出以下结论:系统化的学习策略训练对学习者的英语听力成绩存在着积极影响.
