Increasing and uninterrupted supply of high-level manpower has become a fundamental pre-requisite for social and economic development of any nation. Hence, the direction of the university education in Nigeria is intensifying and diversifying its programmes for the development of high-level manpower within the context of the needs of the nation. To achieve this, the government of Nigeria initiated higher education policy reforms that intended to bring its university system more in line with international good practices. It is however disheartening to note that the quality of university graduates in Nigeria has continued to decline due to inadequate funding. The focus of this paper is to examine how foreign agencies＇ support would help to increase the quality of Nigerian university graduates.

An analysis on Translation Strategies of Chinese Dishes

Cuisine culture occupies a pivotal position in nation’s culture especially in China.Chinese cooking has become a link between Chinese people and people from other countries and an important window for them to know Chinese culture.Hence,to translate those Chinese dish names has been put outstandingly to us,not only because this is the need to promote the comity and understanding between them and us,but also the key job to spread our tradition culture to the world.This thesis attempts to have a brief study of Chinese cuisine naming and put forward some translation methods,such as transliteration,domestication,and so on.Without neglecting some related obstacles.     

Educational technology, epistemology and discourses in curricula in Norway

Why is Norway, the first nation in the world defining digital literacy, as the fifth basic competence in the national curriculum？ How has epistemological and ontological issues influenced educational technology and how has this influenced discourse of educational technology in curricula which have led to today＇s ＂technology friendly curriculum＂？ These are central questions in this paper and one of the main aims within the paper is to analyze what kind of impacts, such underlying epistemological and ontological aspect, has been given in Norwegian curricula throughout the last decades in light of Koschmann＇s （1996） technological paradigms. As consequence of this, the paper will highlight the most relevant discourses about educational technology in different curricula as an entry point to ask, if the increased ICT （Information and Communication Technology） status in the new national curriculum has established new discourses and got any impact in the practice field yet.     

Globalization and the Development of Multinational Curriculum

The process of globalization has posed great challenges to the twenty-first century education in every single nation.In response to these challenges,scholars and curriculum theorists have advocated to develop transnational and multinational curriculum to meet the requirements of global citizens.To be specific,26 experts from nine nations worked on a multinational curriculum project for four years.The final product is a set of curriculum recommendations on education for global citizenship.Despite the success of this project,various challenges also exist for those who work on developing multinational curriculum.

Evaluation of the teaching guide as an instrument for adaptation to the new European credit system： Case analysis

This paper presents the evaluation of the teaching guide application for the subject of management control in the Business Management and Administration Degree. The evaluation began with the analysis of a questionnaire which aimed to collect the perceptions of learners who have studied this subject in two groups （morning and afternoon） during the first semester of the current academic year. The intention of this analysis was to obtain information that would meet two objectives： to continue upgrading the teaching-learning process and to revise and improve all the components in the teaching guide. There is an analysis of the degree of difficulty involved in the activities proposed and the degree to which specific objectives for different competencies have been attained. Likewise, we have carried out a global assessment of the different methodologies applied in the teaching-learning process, and an assessment of the evaluation system as well as of other aspects that could have hindered reaching the objectives stated in the guide. Furthermore, the relevance of this questionnaire has been vindicated for obtaining the information necessary to adjust the learner＇s workload to the European credit.

The paper presents an analytical study on the American society through a popular American drama series "the Desperate House Wives". Typical American values can be found everywhere on the show as they have been ingrained in the soul of the American people. Unlike China, the nation of which have formed since thousands of years ago, so has its culture, America’s history is an immigration history. People started migrating from other parts of the world since the 17 thcentury and gathered at the land of America to build up their new homes and realize their dreams. America is one of the countries in the world that plural cultures successfully mix together.The paper focuses on the American people’s daily life to explain to the readers the American traits and values prevailing in their society. Except the Foreword which is the general introduction to the paper, this paper is presented in five parts. The first part to the forth part are the emphasis of the paper which respectively analyze the American traits and values. A series of vivid examples are provided with a wide range of study objects, man and woman, kids to elders, in hope of making the paper understandable and persuasive. It is expected that the study can offer a general idea to the people who are interested in the American society and its people.     

A Study on Incorporating Cultural Background into High School English Teaching

Language is a social communication tool, and has the inseparable relationship with the social culture. In rcent years, with the acceleration of reform and opening up, foreign exchanges become more frequent, and cross-cultural communication in every nation become the indispensable part of life. But cultural differences are cross-cultural communication barriers, which has become a common problem facing the world. Therefore, culture plays a very important role in English teaching, which is widely acknowledged by English teaching circle. In view of the above problems, this paper discusses how to present cultural background information and expose learners to it in the need of English teaching at Chinese High school so as to help learners grasp the crux of the language and develop their ability to communicate in English.

The study of solitary waves has been a subject highly popular and full of interest sinec Russell[1]first observed the solitary waves in a channel and the research on the internal solitary waves in stratified fluids is one of the branches of this subject.There are extensively internal solitary waves in the atmosphere,oceans.fjords and lakes.To study them is of academic and practical significance[2].Numerous investigators have made contributions since the theoretical work on internal solitary waves was initiated by Keulegan[3].Nevertheless,some problems remain still to be discussed,for example,the higher-order theories for one-dimensional internal solitary waves in stratified fluids of small depth,the two-dimensional internal solitary waves,the explanation of the experimental and the practical phenomena by means of theoretical analysis.In this thesis,we hope to gain an insight into the above three items by combining of theoretical analysis and symbolic computation.The following work has been completed.

Idioms are gems of a language which have been refined through ages of use. Idioms are thus always rich in cultural connotation and national flavor. Lots of cultural information is embedded in idioms. Language is a part of culture. Language is the important carrier of culture. Language and culture have close relationship with each other. The study of the relationship between language and culture has been considered a subject of great value. Owing to this, translation theorists and translators have put more attention to the cultural barriers that exist in translation. Therefore, translators have to better understand the relationship between language and culture and the relationship between culture and translation so as to render idioms from the SL into the TL faithfully and effectively.

An Action Research Focusing on the Improvement of Students’ Writing Competence

Based on the theory of Consciousness- Raising( CR),this paper proposes a teaching reform in her class,aiming to improve students’ writing competence.Activities have been carried out in their English study and different tasks have been performed at different stages to train the students to be more effective in writing.This paper has expounded the feasibility of this action research and carefully presented the teaching procedures,hoping to help teachers to become more reflective and innovative in their teaching.
