The role of genomics in medicine——past, present and future

The fundamental idea that responses to environmental factors or treatments is to be found in our individual differences, the underlying concept of “genomic medicine”, is rooted in antiquity and based on millennia of simple observation. With the development and transportation and telecommunication,the world becomes smaller and smaller,but there still exist culture differences in the world.Different cultural backgrounds lead to distinct needs and wants(what people buy,when they buy,why they buy and how many they buy,etc).Meanwhile,cultures have great influence on business activities.International marketing,a typical business activity,is not only concerned about economy,but also related to cultures.Therefore,if a market-oriented company wants to meet the needs of foreign customers and survive the fierce competition in international market,it is wise for their stuff to understand different cultures.This is the key for any company to make successful strategies in the light of real cultural situation.That is to say,culture is one of the most important factors in international marketing,unaware of which,corporate may loss out.In my thesis,I'll probe into the importance of understanding different cultures.     

Untranslatability and its Compensation Strategies——Taking The Original of Laura as an Example

As is known to all in the translation field,the problem of translatability and untranslatability has been a long-debated is sue in the field of translation.And the phenomenon of untranslatability is especially prominent in translation of literary works.This paper tries to discuss,from theory and practice,the phenomenon of untranslatability and its compensation strategies in trans lation between Chinese and English.It is roughly divided into two parts,wherein the first part deals with the phenomenon of un translatability,explaining its causes and giving some examples,and the second part deals with the compensation strategies,intro ducing several methods of compensation and taking The Original of Laura written by the deceased Russian-American writer Nabokov as an example.With the development of intercultural communication in the world and the great efforts of translators,the untranslatable words today can be translatable tomorrow.     

Expressed emotion： Is it cross-culturally psychological construct——The study in Iran

It is clear from past research that family atmosphere influences the course of many mental illness such as schizophrenia. EE （emotional express） is a measure of emotional response of a relative towards a person with a diagnosed health problem （Lobbon, et al., 2006）. EE has three aspects like critical, hostile, and emotionally over-involved attitudes that relatives have toward patients. The goals of this study is to investigate EE＇s role in Eastern countries especially in Iran, compared to Western countries. 120 schizophrenia patients and their key relatives are selected to answer the family questionnaire. The results indicated that in Iranian families are regarded to emotionally over involvement attitude more seen than western countries. Parents who were emotional over involvement report self- blaming and more controlling parents than other parents. When the EE in Iranian families were compared to western countries, the differences were clear. For instance, in western countries hostile and critical attitude were more than Iranian families. In addition, they are less self-blaming and controlling their patients. But in Eastern countries mental illness is viewed as the fate or predestination, so there are fewer attempts to follow up therapeutic interventions. It is important to note that the role of culture is explored in explaining the specific manner in which EE relates to relapse among Iranian families, also for programming and family psycho- education interventions.

In this paper, we are attempting to drag it to a "down-to-earth" tool to be handy to common learners by quoting examples from various styles to show how it can be used to increase language power and how important it is for ordinary Chinese learners of English to get familiar with and learn to employ metaphors and other figurative speeches in writing. We should be able to use words in non-literal sense to lend force to an idea, to heighten effects, or to create atmosphere, so as to make our writings eligible at least for practical use and readable for an ordinary native speaker of English.
