An Investigation of Junior Middle School Students’English Learning Motivation and Motivating Strategies

English learning motivation plays a more and more important role in junior middle school students’ study,and it is necessary for students to learn English effectively.Therefore,teachers should take responsibilities for stimulating students’ English learning motivation.This present thesis investigates 63 students who are from class 1 grade 1,class 2 grade 1 and class 3 grade 1 in NanJie country junior middle school in LinYing town LuoHe city by the way of questionnaire.And the thesis discusses the source of students’ learning motivation,for the purpose of putting forward strategies of motivating students’ English learning motivation in accordance with students’ type of motivation.     

On Vocational Students’Listening Obstacles and Strategies

English listening is one of the most important but the most difficult parts in English teaching. It is not only the main way of acquiring language information , but the base of improving other skills. However, during the College English teaching and learning process, teaching of listening has been the difficult point, troubling teachers and students, So, improving students’ listening skill is the current problem to be solved by the teachers. In this article, based on my observations, questionnaires and interviews in classes for many years, I found out some barriers of English listening existing among my students. Since 1970s,the research on second language acquisition has been developed with times.The research focus of lLanguage teach ing has shifted from the study of how to teach students to how to learn for students,with particular attention to explore the influence that students’psychological factors such as learning motivation,learning attitude and learning anxiety have on learning outcomes.Among those emotional variables,anxiety is considered to be one of the most critical psychological variables.English classroom anxiety is different from the ordinary classroom anxiety and receives much attention from scholars.Horwiz(1986) pointed out that foreign language anxiety is a unique phenomenon in language learning.In China,English learning in senior high school is a very important period.It is a common phenomenon to see students behaving anxiously in the English class.Therefore,the anxiety in the English class of senior high school de serves attention.This paper will analyze the main reasons of students’anxiety and points out several effectively methods to relieve their anxiety so as to enhance English classroom teaching and learning effect.     

Views on College Students’ English Learning Motivation

This paper aims at exploring college students’ English learning motivation to language learning, including effort, interest, and attitudes. To some extent, it is very important to perform activities in language learning classes. On the one hand, teachers should do every effort to develop students’ keen interest in English study so as to foster their intrinsic motivation. On the other hand, they should set up new goals for students and feedback properly in order to build confidence in English learning. In a word, it is essential for English teachers to understand students’ motivation of English learning so as to save time and teach more efficiently.

A Study of English Learning Strategies Employed by the Rural Junior School Students in Anhui Province

In order to find out whether the English learning strategies specified in the Requirements have been used by the junior middle school students whose English studies are guided by the current Syllabus,how frequently they make use of them,and whether there are any disparities between the specifications of the Requirements and the current conditions of the students using English learning strategies,the author of this thesis attempt to find out the answers to three questions:1) How is the general condition of the students using the learning strategies and what problems exist? 2) Are there any differences with statistical significance in using English learning strategies between male and female students? 3) Are there any differences with statistical significance in using learning strategies between successful and unsuccessful students?     

An Empirical Study of Senior One High School Students’Cognitive Strategies in Learning English Vocabulary

The present research aims to find out (1) the general vocabulary learning beliefs of Senior One high school students in Guang zhou; (2) the general vocabulary cognitive strategies adopted by Senior One high school students in Guangzhou; (3) the differences be tween successful English learners and unsuccessful English learners in adopting cognitive strategies in their English vocabulary learning. A cohort of 68 Senior One high school students participate in the research. The results of the investigation show that the notion that vocabu lary should be learnt in context and through using is shared by the majority, that the most frequently used vocabulary cognitive strategies are inferencing, note-taking, contextualization and resourcing, that there is no significant difference between the successful English learners and the unsuccessful English learners in using identical vocabulary cognitive strategies.     

A Study of Non-English Majors’Anxiety over Spoken English and Relieving Strategies

By using revised foreign language classroom anxiety scale designed by Horwitz,the paper investigates 150 non-English majors’ third-year students.After the statistical analysis,the paper finds various sources of anxiety and proposes some corresponding teaching strategies for teachers to help them overcome anxious emotion when communicating English with others.     

A Study of Interlanguage Fossilization in College Students’ English writing

English writing is the college students’synthetical application about the knowledge of English.English writing,however,is the weak segment of the college students'English learning all the time.Based on the researches home and abroad,the paper makes an implicational study on interlanguage fossilization in English writing of Chinese college students.Though probing the causes of fossilization in English writing,the paper proposes some measures to reduce the fossilization.In the chapter one,the paper introduces simply the interlanguage fossilization.In the chapter two,the paper analyzes college students English writing and get the causal factors of fossilization:unfavorite learning motivation of students,ineffective feedback to errors,interference of the mother tongue.Then,at the last chapter,the paper put up some measures to overcome and avoid the fossilization in college students'English writing:promoting students'motivation,providing right feedback,avoiding mother tongue interference.     

A Study on Teachers’and Students’Beliefs about English Teaching

Teacher and learner beliefs have been found to play an important role in EFL teaching and learning.The present em pirical study explores a group of college teachers’and students’beliefs about English teaching by using questionnaire.The statisti cal result shows that teachers and students have divergent views about many issues in English teaching.

The Application of Cooperative Learning in Improving Rural Senior High Students’ English

English teaching method has been improved and the effect of teaching has become greater these years in China,but it is not satis fying.Therefore,adopting experiment approach,the present study aims to solve the question:Can cooperative learning bring effect to the English learning? It chooses two classes from a rural school,one is experimental group which adopts cooperative-learning approach,the other is control group which adopts traditional approach.Focusing on the analysis and comparativeness of their two tests’ scores,it studies the influence of cooperative learning on psychology,learning environment and learning which bring to the English learners,making a con clusion that the application of cooperative learning can greatly improve English learning.     

A Survey on College Students’ English Learning Motivation and the Learning Results

This survey has been processed on 78 graduate students in grade 2010, majoring in science and engineer, from different classes. By analyzing the results of College English Test 4 and questionnaire, it shows that the students’ English learning motivation roots in Certificate. Differences between the winners and losers are not reflected in the time they have used to study, but the learning motivation they possess.
