To ascertain the satisfaction of women full‐time community college faculty with their employment in the community college, an open‐ended questionnaire was sent to over 100 women faculty in the Chicago City Colleges. Although the low response rate precludes much generalizability, the responses indicate that most women in the study found employment in the community college to be ideal for them. The employment enabled them to find professional fulfillment without the pressure to publish and with sufficient time for family responsibilities. Reservations about how “ideal” employment in the community college is for women stemmed from concerns about the institution's negative image. University researchers who decry teaching in the community college as marginalization of women as faculty are diminishing the achievements of the many women who find teaching in the community college to be ideal employment.  相似文献

虽然高职高专院校以市场为导向,面向社会,面向市场办学,但是社会上为什么还普遍存在着严重的"有岗缺人,有人无岗"的错位现象呢?通过抽样问卷调查、座谈、现场会议和分头走访等方法,对广西主要的高职高专院校的毕业年级学生及学校内从事就业工作的教师人员展开了调查。调查结果表明:高校对就业指导工作的重视程度明显不够、效果十分不理想,就业教育仅限于第三学年的"成品包装阶段"。  相似文献

As community college leaders strive for institutional efficacy, programs are needed to promote student success through the alignment of curricular objectives and community needs. To meet this objective, service learning (SL) is becoming increasingly popular in the community college. A new SL program called Drive to Employment (DTE) was developed as a means of preparing students for employment by serving unemployed and underemployed community clients. As a result, the curriculum was better connected to workplace competencies, students were prepared for employment, and the capacity of community-based partner organizations was expanded. An overview of DTE will familiarize stakeholders with SL, lessons learned, and the potential impact of similar programs on student, institutional, and community outcomes.  相似文献

农村社区建设是一个全新且重要的战略部署。由于长期实行的城乡二元治理结构,导致当前我国农村社区建设缺乏理论和实践方面的指导。根据历史发展,界定新形势下的农村社区内涵,农村社区建设的基本目标,科学分析农村社区建设制约因素等。从理论和现实角度结合当前大学生就业的困境,研究认为重启"知识青年下乡"路径不仅能缓解大学生就业的严峻局面,而且还能为广大农村建设提供高素质的专业人才队伍。通过对建设农村社区和破解大学生就业难题的可行性研究分析,并针对性地提出不同的政策选择,实现农村社区和大学生之间的"双赢"。  相似文献

先赋因素式就业深刻地反映了权力被滥用的社会病态和青年群体"望父成龙"的倒逼心理。在大学生就业过程中,这种现象常常浓缩为"拼爹"二字并长期存在。数十年前,因大学生供不应求和整个社会弥漫着强烈的自强意识,个别大学生先赋因素式就业对整个就业市场产生的影响极其微弱。而近年来大学生就业难已是社会标志性符号,先赋因素式就业将割裂就业市场、蚕食稀缺的优质岗位,从而破坏就业环境,损害大学生的就业尊严和人们对整个社会制度的自信。因此,采取切实可行的措施防止先赋因素式就业,"双向选择,自主择业"这一阳光政策才能延续,整个社会的活力才能真正迸发出来。  相似文献

A follow‐up study was conducted on ex‐students of a residential special school for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties in New Zealand. Previous research on post‐school outcomes for students with emotional and behavioural difficulties has found low levels on quality of life indicators such as education, employment and community adjustment. Twenty‐nine ex‐students and/or their parents or caregivers were located and interviewed 10–14 years after they had left residential school. Interviews focused on their educational achievement, employment record and community adjustment. Findings indicated low levels of achievement in terms of educational qualifications and employment records, high rates of involvement with the criminal justice system and low levels of community adjustment. Implications of the study findings suggest that key factors in improving student outcomes are establishing effective procedures for transition, providing ongoing support for ex‐students, and better special needs training for teachers in mainstream schools.  相似文献

There is a gap in the literature on the experiences of Aboriginal adults who have made the transition into education and employment after moving to an urban community. Staff of three Aboriginal inner-city family services agencies participated in an interview that included the question: What changes do you see in your employment and education? Forty-four participants made a total of 70 unique responses. Participants grouped the responses into nine concepts including: advancement in their work, formal education, gaining new skills, teaching others, learning more about themselves, professional development, work experience, helping the youth and working for their own community. Results are compared to the available literature and implications for future research are presented.  相似文献
