The relationship between context and translation is among the basic fields of pragmatic research and an insight into the nature may contribute to a better understanding of language use. In this article, the writer will examine the impact of context on the field of translation. The three major contexts will be identified in order to contribute to the differences in translation. In this way, we obtain insight into the particular relationship between context and translation, and have a better understanding of language use. The purpose f this paper intends to make a brief analysis on the functions of context to the language and its influence in pragmatic translation.

The Relationship Between Translationand Original Work

When we comment on a translation work, we will usually com- pare the translated version with the original one. The procession to formulate the principles or criteria of translation always depends on the people＇s realization and comprehension of the relation between the original work and its translation. In both Chinese and western translation history, many scholars held lots of different point of views on the relationship between the original work and its translat- ed version. In this article, the author would like to compare these concepts from the hermeneutie view.

Reference in Translation——A Case Study of Translation of Kong Yiji

Reference is one of the cohesive devices of discourse,the comparison of which between English and Chinese will benefit translation practice,and a understanding of the differences in this aspect between the two languages is helpful in the reproduction of the original coherence of discourse.Based on the data of the Chinese novel "Kong yij" and its English translation,this paper will make a detailed analysis of the differences in reference and propose some translation strategies.     

Bearing capacity and load transfer mechanism of a static drill rooted nodular pile in soft soil areas

The static drill rooted nodular pile is a new type of pile foundation consisting of precast nodular pile and the surrounding cemented soil. This composite pile has a relatively high bearing capacity and the mud pollution will be largely reduced during the construction process by using this type of pile. In order to investigate the bearing capacity and load transfer mechanism of this pile, a group of experiments were conducted to provide a comparison between this new pile and the bored pile. The axial force ofa precast nodular pile was also measured by the strain gauges installed on the pile to analyze the distribution of the axial force of the nodular pile and the skin friction supported by the surrounding soil, then 3D models were built by using the ABAQUS finite element program to investigate the load transfer mechanism of this composite pile in detail. By combining the results of field tests and the finite element method, the outcome showed that the bearing capacity of a static drill rooted nodular pile is higher than the bored pile, and that this composite pile will form a double stress dispersion system which will not only confirm the strength of the pile, but also make the skin friction to be fully mobilized. The settlement of this composite pile is mainly controlled by the precast nodular pile; meanwhile, the nodular pile and the surrounding cemented soil can be considered as deformation compatibility during the loading process. The nodes on the nodular pile play an important role during the load transfer process, the shear strength of the interface between the cemented soil and the soil of the static drill rooted pile is larger than that of the bored pile.

MRI and PET images fusion based on human retina model

The diagnostic potential of brain positron emission tomography (PET) imaging is limited by low spatial resolution. For solving this problem we propose a technique for the fusion of PET and MRI images. This fusion is a trade-off between the spectral information extracted from PET images and the spatial information extracted from high spatial resolution MRI. The proposed method can control this trade-off. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to build a multiscale fusion model, based on the retinal cell photoreceptors model. This paper introduces general prospects of this model, and its application in multispectral medical image fusion. Results showed that the proposed method preserves more spectral features with less spatial distortion. Comparing with hue-intensity-saturation (HIS), discrete wavelet transform (DWT), wavelet-based sharpening and wavelet-à trous transform methods, the best spectral and spatial quality is only achieved simultaneously with the proposed feature-based data fusion method. This method does not require resampling images, which is an advantage over the other methods, and can perform in any aspect ratio between the pixels of MRI and PET images.

High-order lateral buckling analysis of submarine pipeline under thermal stress

It is of importance to study and predict the possible buckling of submarine pipeline under thermal stress in pipeline design.Since soil resistance is not strong enough to restrain the large deformation of pipeline,high-order buckling modes occur very easily.Analytical solutions to high-order buckling modes were obtained in this paper.The relationships between buckling temperature and the amplitude or the wavelength of buckling modes were established.Analytical solutions were obtained to predict the occurrence and consequence of in-service buckling of a heated pipeline in an oil field.The effects of temperature difference and properties of subsoil on buckling modes were investigated.The results show that buckling will occur once temperature difference exceeds safe temperature;high-order pipeline buckling occurs very easily;the larger the friction coefficients are,the safer the submarine pipeline will be.     

A Contrastive Analysis of Interpersonal Meaning of Chinese and English Cosmetic Advertising Texts

Based on the theoretical framework of Halliday’s interpersonal function,this thesis studies the contrast between Chinese and English cosmetic advertising texts.The author chooses thirty Chinese texts and thirty English texts from famous top magazines as the materials of this study.These samples will be discussed in four perspectives:mood,modality,tense and person systems.There are two main purposes of the study:1)to prove the operability and feasibility in cosmetic advertising texts of Chinese and English from the aspect of interpersonal function.2)to give useful suggestions for composing Chinese and English cosmetic advertisements in the future.
