Listening has been playing a key role in daily communication and ELT.However,it’s an obstacle for most non-English majors.Among affective factors the students encounter in listening,anxiety is the most usual one.In this paper,I will analyze the situation based on my observations on listening class and interviews with some students in terms of the relationship between students’ anxiety and their listening performance and the characteristics of the listening materials.Subsequently,with the interviews with some students,some possible ways of improving listening ability are discussed.  相似文献

This is a research report on the interrelationship among understanding, memory and oral expression in listening comprehension training. The research investigated 150 non-English majors through a questionnaire in a higher vocational college. The result indicates that the interrelationship among understanding, memory and oral expression in listening classes which are determined by the listening materials and teaching method directly influences students’ listening proficiency and speaking ability. It is suggested that some strategies to be used to foster students’ abilities in these three areas so as to improve their listening ability.  相似文献

As we know,SECT-3 is an important means to test the English language ability of a student who is not an English major in the vocational schools in Sichuan province.Of all the parts in the SCET-3,the majority of students think that the listening comprehension part is the most difficult one.There are some ways to tackle these problems in the listening part.By comparison and analysis of these questions appeared in the past few years,some regular patterns can be found.Different strategies can be used to solve different questions of each section in the listening comprehension part,so that students will feel easier in passing the SCET-3.  相似文献

English listening is one of the most important but the most difficult parts in English teaching. It is not only the main way of acquiring language information , but the base of improving other skills. Many problems can be seen in the practical listening class, such as a distorted listening motivation, a lack of sufficient and authentic input and a corresponding neglect of metacognitive awareness of learning in actual teaching. In fact, what we are doing in the listening class is to test rather than to teach, to foster the passive receiver rather than the active learner. This article analyzes these problems from theoretical perspective, speculating on the limitations in terms of the comprehensible input, the affective filter and metacognitive awareness. Then, based on the author teaching experience, it provides some suggestions to solve the present problems. It suggests what is needed in teaching listening is careful consideration of pre-,during and post- listening tasks incorporating both the top-down and bottom-up processes.  相似文献

This study,which is about pre-listening activities in language comprehension,seeks to obtain a better understanding of Chinese EFL students’listening comprehension in relation to radio news broadcasts.It investigates listeners’evaluation of the effects of pre-listening activities involving three listening texts with three kinds of different pre-listening activities.The findings yielded that the pre-listening activities had some impact on influencing the listeners’listening comprehension and it differed for effective and less-effective listeners.  相似文献

This study tries to examine the correlation between Chinese EFL learners’ accent perception accuracy of and their listening proficiency.Accent annotation data were collected from 80 English-majored freshmen and sophomores.Results show that their accent perception accuracy is positively related to their listening proficiency.Therefore,it is concluded that the teaching of the accent should be enhanced to help students overcome some supersegmental obstacles in their listening.  相似文献
