Development of vertical SU-8 microtubes integrated with dissolvable tips for transdermal drug delivery

Polymer-based microneedles have drawn much attention in the transdermal drug delivery resulting from their flexibility and biocompatibility. Traditional fabrication approach deploys various kinds of molds to create sharp tips at the end of needles for the penetration purpose. This approach is usually time-consuming and expensive. In this study, we developed an innovative fabrication process to make biocompatible SU-8 microtubes integrated with biodissolvable maltose tips as novel microneedles for the transdermal drug delivery applications. These microneedles can easily penetrate the skin''s outer barrier represented by the stratum corneum (SC) layer. The drug delivery device of mironeedles array with 1000 μm spacing between adjacent microneedles is proven to be able to penetrate porcine cadaver skins successfully. The maximum loading force on the individual microneedle can be as large as 7.36 ± 0.48N. After 9 min of the penetration, all the maltose tips are dissolved in the tissue. Drugs can be further delivered via these open biocompatible SU-8 microtubes in a continuous flow manner. The permeation patterns caused by the solution containing Rhodamine 110 at different depths from skin surface were characterized via a confocal microscope. It shows successful implementation of the microneedle function for fabricated devices.

Confined growth of ZIF-8 in dendritic mesoporous organosilica nanoparticles as bioregulators for enhanced mRNA delivery in vivo

Zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) and its composites have diverse applications. However, ZIF-8-based nanocomposites are mainly used as carriers in biomolecular delivery, with the functions of metal ions and ligands rarely used to modulate the biofunctions. In this work, dendritic mesoporous organosilica nanoparticles (DMONs) with tetrasulfide bond were used to confine ZIF-8 growth partially inside mesopores as a novel nanocomposite for mRNA delivery. Each component in the resultant DMONs-ZIF-8 contributed to mRNA delivery applications, including high loading benefitting from positively charged ZIF-8 and large mesopores of DMONs, endosomal escape promoted by the imidazole ring of ZIF-8, and long-term glutathione depletion mediated by both zinc ions and tetrasulfide bond. Combined together, DMONs-ZIF-8 demonstrated enhanced mRNA translation and better transfection efficiency than commercial products and toxic polymer-modified DMONs in vitro and in vivo.     

New methods for compression of MP double array by compact management of suffixes

Minimal Prefix (MP) double array is an efficient data structure for a trie. However, its space efficiency is degraded by the non-compact management of suffixes. This paper presents three methods to compress the MP double array. The first two methods compress the MP double array by accommodating short suffixes inside the leaf nodes, and pruning leaf nodes corresponding to the end marker symbol. These methods achieve size reduction of up to 20%, making insertion and deletion faster at the same time while maintaining the retrieval time of O(1). The third method eliminates empty spaces in the array that holds suffixes, and improves the maximum size reduction further by about 5% at the cost of increased insertion time. Compared to a Ternary Search Tree, the key retrieval of the compressed MP double array is 50% faster and its size is 3–5 times smaller.

The development of assistive dementia technology that accounts for the values of those affected by its use

Developing technology that accounts for values has been achieved in many areas, including security, gaming, finance, engineering, and many more. The main methodological approach has been that of value sensitive design. But most of the work to date has been on the first of its three stages. The focus of this article is on advances related to its second stage, empirical investigation, and in particular the impact of contextual understanding in that stage. Although lessons can be learnt from other domains, the specific context of dementia means that there are nuances to understanding values, including justice and autonomy, that differ from other areas. The integration of value considerations in the development of assistive technology in dementia is explored in two broad categories: the traditional and ongoing need for fixed decision support, and adaptable decision support technologies. For fixed decision support the A&D Benchmark is particularly useful in design. But for adaptable technologies, that benchmark requires further development, including consideration of the values of additional stakeholders, such as the general public.

我国科技社团期刊发展机遇与策略

世界科技期刊发展经历了创建、专业、检索、规范等发展时期后,目前已进入数字化发展期。与世界科技期刊发展的343年相比,我国科技期刊起步要晚150年。无论在国际上还是在我国,科技社团在科技期刊办刊中都具有非常重要的地位,从世界上第一本学术期刊《哲学汇刊》由英国皇家学会创办开始,到目前世界科技期刊出版机构中科技社团占43.2%,在中国大陆仅中国科协系统及其各级学会主办期刊就占我国科技期刊总数的41.4%。目前,世界科技期刊呈现出以科技发展和学科细分为基本依据、以数字化为基本手段、以集群化运营为基本形式的竞争发展态势,我国科技期刊正面临创新型国家建设和期刊出版体制改革的良好机遇。对此,我国科技社团期刊必须寻求其积极而有效的科技期刊创新发展策略,要明确学术团体办刊的社会责任; 办刊理念要由“卖物品”向“卖信息”转变、由“苦笑”向“微笑”转变、由“群猫”向“大猫”转变; 大力实施精品科技期刊战略; 加大科技期刊的非营利政策支持; 积极稳妥地推进科技期刊出版体制改革。     

构建以类型教育为导向的职业教育发展策略

与普通教育不同,职业教育作为类型教育的一种,主要承担为社会培养应用型人才的任务,具备与普通教育同等重要的地位。基于此,该文详细分析了类型教育的相关内容,结合湖北某职业院校情况,分析当前构建以类型教育为导向的职业教育存在的问题,并提出构建以类型教育为导向的职业教育策略,以推进教育教学改革,为相关研究者提供参考。

本文首先分析了社工机构培育的三支重要力量:政府的扶持、海外个人和机构的支持以及大学教师的参与和倡导;接着从社工机构的项目运作、资金来源、社工人才的薪酬待遇、志愿者的招募使用等方面分析了社工机构运作的现状及其问题;最后,文章提出以制度建设促进社工机构的可持续发展,主要涉及到政府购买服务制度的完善、社工人才的成长机制、社会公信度的建立、多元的社会资源渠道的建立等方面。     

援非农业技术示范中心可持续发展面临的问题与对策

援非农业技术示范中心作为中非农业合作新阶段的标志,遇到的困难和问题主要集中在可持续发展上,本文分别从项目实施进度、实施内容、所取得成就、可持续发展探索等方面研究了首批14个农业技术示范中心的实施状况,并分析了这些农业中心面临的目标定位、资金、土地、沟通、项目监测评价等问题及产生的原因,提出援非农业技术示范中心的可持续发展需要正确把握目标定位和可持续发展的内在要求,鼓励有实力和能力的单位组成联合体共同实施项目,建立援非签证、种子(苗)等绿色通道和合作交流平台,进一步健全金融保障机制和监督评价系统。     

新世纪社会经济发展对管理人才的需求分析

本文从作业层、中间层、战略层等管理层面分析了我国当前社会经济局长对管理人才的需求，并根据以知识为基础的经济中管理活动的特点，推断不同层面上管理人才需求的变化趋势，提出了我国社会经济发展对管理人才需求的综合模型。在些基础上，对我国高等管理教育的发展提出了三点建议。     

高效液相色谱法构建黄连上清丸指纹图谱

高效液相色谱法构建复杂中成药黄连上清丸的HPLC指纹图谱.方法首先对实验的方法学进行评价,证明方法精密可靠;用此方法构建了12个样品的图像式指纹图谱;进而构建数字化指纹图,并改进了原有数字化指纹谱的表现形式,使样品间的量化比较一目了然.结论:从图象式指纹谱上可以直观地判断不同样品共有峰的含量差异比较显著,这是由于原料、加工过程等多种因素引起.在数字化指纹谱中,通过对各种参数进行评价,证明每个厂家都按规定投入了十七味原药材,而药材的品质以及药材的投入量却有显著差异.HPLC法构建的黄连上清丸指纹图谱结果有效可靠,该方法可用于其他不同厂家不同批次的制剂控制与评价参考.
