哪些因素会影响学术论文的被引次数是文献计量学领域的一个经典研究议题。目前的研究主要关注论文的内容特征和形式特征与被引次数之间的关系,鲜有研究从文本可读性视角切入这一议题。文本可读性影响读者对文本内容的理解和知识吸收,是一个关乎知识传播效率和研究成果认可度的重要因素。本研究在控制论文知识品质和权威性的基础上,使用文本可读性R值等五个变量研究论文的文本可读性对被引次数的影响。以中文图书情报学知名期刊发表于2016—2020年的论文为研究样本,研究发现论文的文本可读性R值、是否采用复合式标题、是否使用公式和表格对被引次数有显著影响,而是否使用图对被引次数没有显著影响。研究验证了中文情境下文本可读性对论文影响力的实质性作用,研究结果对科研人员改善自身的中文学术写作以及提高研究成果影响力具有重要参考价值。  相似文献

Text readability has developed from a crude means to classify subjective judgment on text characteristics, to a more theoretical position which compares these attributes with learner characteristics. Visual readability may be following a similar evolutionary path to that of text readability. The Picture Readability Index (PRI) developed in this study utilizes an, interdisciplinary battery of methods adapted from the fields of linguistics, reading, and cognitive psychology. The PRI is designed to assess the readability of instructional illustrations. Readability referes to the success of the image as defined by its objective or caption. Images can be readable in the sense that they inspire cognitive and affective processing. Photographs with low readability inspire reactions that do not go beyond initial first glance responses.  相似文献

This study examines how the readability of scientific discourses changes over time and to what extent readability can explain scientific impact in terms of citation counts. The basis are representative datasets of 135,502 abstracts from academic research papers pertaining to twelve technologies of different maturity. Using three different measures of readability, it is found that the language of the abstracts has become more complex over time. Across all technologies, less easily readable texts are more likely to receive at least one citation, while the effects are most pronounced for comparatively immature research streams. Among the more mature or larger discourses, the abstracts of the top 10% and 1% of the most often cited articles are significantly less readable. It remains open to what extent readability actually influences future citations and how much of the relationship is causal. If readability indeed drives citations, the results imply that scientists have an incentive to (artificially) reduce the readability of their abstracts in order to signal quality and competence to readers—both to get noticed at all and to attract more citations. This may mean a prisoner dilemma in academic (abstract) writing, where authors intentionally but unnecessarily complicate the way in which they communicate their work.  相似文献

An empirical investigation of mission statement communication effectiveness (readability and tone) was conducted using content analysis. All Fortune 500 companies and American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) in the United States were contacted by letter asking for a copy of their mission statement. Responses were received from 218 companies and 107 universities. Of these, 135 usable mission statements were evaluated. The results indicate that mission statement developers in both corporate as well as university settings need to improve their readability and the tone of their written statements in order to maximize their organizational image.  相似文献

The combined interplay of commercialisation, digitalisation and globalisation offers opportunities for international non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to gain more news access. We set up a quantitative content analysis to study how and to what extent press releases from the international NGO Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) were adopted in foreign coverage by four Flemish newspapers (1995–2010). First, the analysis shows that fewer articles were based on MSF press releases in 2010 than in 1995. Furthermore, we found that Flemish journalists generally supplemented the MSF press releases with additional information. The decreased agenda-building capacity of MSF can be explained by the nature of events (violent conflicts in 1995 versus natural disasters in 2010) and by the increased competition between NGOs in 2010. The fact that MSF press releases and articles increasingly discuss global issues nonetheless indicates that globalisation offers opportunities for international NGOs to enhance their agenda-building capacities. Second, our research found less evidence to support often heard complaints about “churnalism” in newsrooms and showed that public relations can also be a positive factor in the news production process; specifically, we found that MSF press releases are often used to counterbalance the “official” message coming from political representatives or contending parties.  相似文献

Objective:There are concerns about nonscientific and/or unclear information on the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) that is available on the Internet. Furthermore, people''s ability to understand health information varies and depends on their skills in reading and interpreting information. This study aims to evaluate the readability and creditability of websites with COVID-19-related information.Methods:The search terms “coronavirus,” “COVID,” and “COVID-19” were input into Google. The websites of the first thirty results for each search term were evaluated in terms of their credibility and readability using the Health On the Net Foundation code of conduct (HONcode) and Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level (FKGL), Simple Measure of Gobbledygook (SMOG), Gunning Fog, and Flesch Reading Ease Score (FRE) scales, respectively.Results:The readability of COVID-19-related health information on websites was suitable for high school graduates or college students and, thus, was far above the recommended readability level. Most websites that were examined (87.2%) had not been officially certified by HONcode. There was no significant difference in the readability scores of websites with and without HONcode certification.Conclusion:These results suggest that organizations should improve the readability of their websites and provide information that more people can understand. This could lead to greater health literacy, less health anxiety, and the provision of better preventive information about the disease.

More research is needed that examines textbooks intended for the entry level college classroom. This study offers valuable information to academics that adopt a public speaking textbook for instruction as well as objective feedback to the collective authors. Readability levels of 22 nationally published textbooks, based on McGlaughlin's (1969) SMOG readability index, are reported. The mean readability level for all textbooks combined equated to a (M= 15.66) grade level with a SD (.71) less than one grade level of difficulty and a range of 2.83 grade levels. It should be noted that the SMOG index is based on 100% reader comprehension and tends to rate difficulty two grade levels higher than comparable measures. An ANOVA and corresponding t-tests indicate significant differences with respect to the readability among texts. Implications of findings, limitations of this study, recommendations for teachers, and directions for future research are provided.  相似文献

[目的/意义] 探究我国移动阅读应用个人信息保护政策合规性用户感知情况,构建移动阅读应用软件个人信息保护政策合规性评价指标体系,基于用户视角为隐私政策的制定和完善提供理论与实践指导。[方法/过程] 结合国内外对个人信息保护政策的研究,选取国内十大热门移动阅读APP为研究对象,从个人信息保护政策与标准规范契合度、文本完整度、位置显著程度、内容可读程度4个维度构建个人信息保护政策合规性用户阅读感知测度体系,使用灰色加权关联分析方法对选取的APP进行关联度计算及排序。[结果/结论] 个人信息保护政策合规性受政策表征和内容的双重影响,链接显著、内容完整、可读性强、法规契合度高的隐私政策更易获得用户在合规性方面的正向反馈。  相似文献

目前学术期刊投稿模板普遍存在可读性、可用性较低问题,造成来稿规范性较差。本文提出利用作者自查表提高来稿规范性。以《热力发电》为例,详细介绍了自查表的设计思路、设计方法、应用方法及其对作者和编辑部的作用。经验表明,自查表应置于醒目的位置,但应作为投稿模板的辅助。合理使用自查表可以事半功倍。  相似文献

利用AMLC对《重庆大学学报》自2010年6月至2011年5月收到的163篇环境类论文进行检测,发现文字重复率≥5%的稿件有52篇,文字相似比集中在5%~40%。逐篇分析发现:有29篇存在学术不端行为,主要表现为引而不注和拆分论文;文字相似比较高部分通常为引言和结果分析与讨论,而环境工程应用案例因其特殊性而被抄袭的概率较小。指出AMLC检测的局限及特点,并有针对性地给出了编辑可采取的对策。  相似文献
