The authors report on a survey of services and supports provided to students with disabilities at 28 community colleges and 39 area vocational technical centers in Florida. The fact that precisely these two representatives of the Unity of Brethren in Moravia are mentioned in the subtitle of this paper is not by chance. In October 1991, 420 years had passed since the death of Jan Blahoslav, and in March 1992, the 400th anniversary of the birth of Comenius was commemorated. In this article, the author wants to emphasize their significance in hymnography, the theory of music, and music education: theories of rhetoric (Blahoslav), aesthetics of Protestant church music (Comenius), Blahoslav's writings on the theory of music ("Muzika") and Comenius's concept of music education (as put forward in “The School of Infancy and Didactics"). The hymnographic activities of Comenius, viz. his edition of the Amsterdam Hymnbook with its 605 psalms and hymns, marked the start of a new era in the history of Protestant church music.  相似文献
