永久在线、永久连接:移动互联网时代的生活方式及其影响因素

随着移动互联网的发展,"永久在线、永久连接"成为当代受众的新生活方式,也挑战了传统的受众与效果研究范式。本文从理论上阐释"永久在线、永久连接"概念,并运用一个全国性的随机抽样调查数据,首次实证描述中国受众"永久在线、永久连接"的行为与心理现状,并分析其影响因素。研究发现:移动互联网的技术可供性显著正向影响永久在线与连接行为,价格敏感、时尚国际、积极进取、稳定悠闲等生活方式对永久在线与连接具有不同方向的显著影响,错失恐惧对"永久在线、永久连接"的行为及心理均有显著的正向影响。本文在此基础上对研究的理论与实践意涵进行了讨论。

Responses to changes in relational uncertainty within dating relationships: Emotions and communication strategies

Guided by the appraisal theory of emotion, this paper examines how various emotions shape communication strategies within romantic relationships. Events that changed people's relational uncertainty levels provide the context for the investigation. Participants in dating relationships (N = 141) described their experience of relational certainty and uncertainty increasing events. Relational certainty increases coincided with relatively high levels of happiness, and relational uncertainty increases corresponded with heightened degrees of anger and sadness. Integrative behaviors were a frequently reported response to both kinds of events. Consistent with appraisal theory, specific emotions were associated with particular strategies; however, some effects were moderated by the type of event. The discussion highlights the utility of appraisal theory for understanding how romantic partners manage fluctuations in relational uncertainty.

Online Producers: Studying the Information Needs and Internet Seeking Behavior in the Agricultural Sector

The agricultural sector is changing due to the advancing information technologies and the internet. Information is required by agricultural producers which cover all aspects of agricultural production including the processing of agricultural products on-farm or in rural areas. The abundance of agricultural information however does not necessarily imply better informed producers, especially if their information behavioral patterns are not studied. A review of the literature on producers’ information needs and an empirical study on olive and olive oil producers is presented. The theoretical construct of the survey is informed by Wilsons’ macro model of information-seeking behavior. This is employed in order to understand information needs, preferred information resources, as well as obstacles in information seeking of olive and olive oil producers. The survey provides new information behavior results for producers’ information spaces, which in turn are creating a new global business agricultural production model. Through this perspective appropriate information services can be developed in order to meet specific information needs and information behaviors in the agricultural sector.

The Census Online: Internet Census Resources for Eastern Europe and the Former Soviet Union

ABSTRACT

The recent censuses in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union have resulted in an enormous quantity of resources that are freely available on the Internet. These resources include not only census data, but also other census-related materials such as methodologies and questionnaires that are equally valuable to researchers of the region. Accessing these materials online is convenient and free, but at the same time worrisome from a research standpoint in that much of this material may vanish from the Internet. Since this material has largely not yet appeared in published format, librarians and researchers may consider saving an archival copy for research purposes.     

Internet Fantasy Violence: A Test of Aggression in an Online Game

Research on violent video games suggests that play leads to aggressive behavior. A longitudinal study of an online violent video game with a control group tested for changes in aggressive cognitions and behaviors. The findings did not support the assertion that a violent game will cause substantial increases in real-world aggression. The findings are presented and discussed, along with their implications for research and policy.     

A new benchmark for Internet use: A logistic modeling of factors influencing Internet use in Canada, 2005

Internet diffusion is not homogeneous and depends on many factors. This study uses data from the Canadian Internet Use Survey (CIUS) to explore the extent demographic variables affect Internet use by individuals in Canada. A logistic model confirms that certain factors, educational attainment, and geography in particular influence Internet use in Canada, controlling for age and income. Education maintains a strong, significant impact on Internet use such that the odds of using the Internet are about three times greater for someone who has some post-secondary education than someone who has, at most, a high school education. An urban–rural digital divide persists in Canada with the odds of using the Internet being almost one-and-a-half times greater for someone who lives in an urban area. While language also has a large effect on Internet use, the presence of children in households no longer seems to be a significant factor. This study thus underscores the changing digital environment in Canada and the need for adaptive, flexible policies addressing national connectivity issues and, in particular, broadband Internet availability.

文章以北京外国语大学网络教育学院文件归档为例,阐述了对互联网时代新型教育模式下产生文件归档的现状,明确了在线教育文件归档的重要意义,并针对其特殊性提出了工作思路和策略,为高校在线教育文件归档提供些许借鉴。     

Building a Virtual Campus: Librarians as Collaborators in Online Course Development and Learning

ABSTRACT

In 2001, the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology (SIAST) Libraries began an informal partnership with the college's online course development unit: the Virtual Campus. What initially began as a relationship based on the traditional reference model has continued to evolve. Librarians now act as integral team members in course design and delivery along with providing information literacy instruction. This article discusses the evolution of SIAST Libraries’ relationship with the Virtual Campus and presents a model of the collaboration that has taken place. In addition, it describes the ways in which this relationship has impacted the role of SIAST's librarians as well as improved communication with and services for off-campus students and faculty.
