当前美国高等教育面临的挑战

当前美国社会经济的发展要求高等教育必须做出迅速反应,而高校的学生构成以及学生接受高等教育的目的也日益多样化。高等学校必须开发更具有弹性、灵巧、敏感和切合实际的学位课程,设计出能满足学生需要的学习策略和学习项目;要深化改革,使高等学校的教师、职员和学生能与商业、政府和民众团体结成伙伴,从而为社会的发展做出更大的贡献。

美国军官学校的通识教育研究

以美国陆军军官学校、海军军官学校、空军军官学校三所大学的本科学术教育计划为案例,着重从通识教育的“共性”与通识教育的“学校特色”两个维度,对通识教育的教育目标、核心课程在整个学术教育计划中的比重、核心课程的知识分布特点三个方面进行了分析和归纳。旨在为我军院校本科学历教育发展提供借鉴与启示。     

The new revisionists and the history of U.S. higher education

This paper presents the traditional history of the development of higher education in the United States, especially during the nineteenth century, and then examines at the findings of the new revisionist historians regarding the content of the curriculum, the mode of instruction, the believed theory of learning, the quality of college leadership, and their egalitarianism. While the revisionists' evidence discredits some of the traditional interpretation of events, some of their data are questionable and some of their methods are found wanting. This paper focuses on the implications of the disparities and advances a thesis.     

Exploring educational use of blogs in U.S. education

As one of the Web 2.0 tools, blogs are widely used in US education. This paper gives a brief overview of blogs such as advantages, disadvantages, and major software for creating blogs, and then it reviews some EduBlogs, its usage, and examples in US education. The purpose is to motivate more educators to use blogs in teaching and research as well as introduce blogs as useful educational tools and its great potentials.     

道德教育的现代性问题--关于美国品格教育争论的伦理学分析

本文从现代性的角度,根据自由主义和社群主义的伦理学争论,分析了美国关于品格教育的争论.文章认为,这场争论是美国道德教育的两条道路之争;其思想根源是伦理学上的自由主义和社群主义之争,其性质是进入现代社会以后产生的道德教育的现代性问题,即学校道德教育存在的学校的契约性与社群性、道德观的连续性与非连续性、主体性与规范性、教育模式的普遍性与特殊、性的内在矛盾关系的割裂.     

浅析中美家庭教育差异

本文试图通过对中美两国家庭教育风格进行比较,分析形成两国家庭教育差异的原因,进而提出对我国家庭教育改革的启示。     

Boya education in China: Lessons from liberal arts education in the U.S. and Hong Kong

In this paper, taking as our point of departure the importance of China’s “boya” education (BYE) and the West’s liberal arts education (LAE) in an era that will be increasingly dominated by information technology (IT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), we examine the importance of BYE in Mainland China and LAE in the U.S. and Hong Kong. We argue that (a) the recent resurgence and growing significance of LAE in the world has been due to the right skill sets it provides in the information technology era in which many new jobs will be created and existing jobs destroyed ; (b) professional or technical training is not only compatible with the fundamental values of boya or liberal arts but also important in showcasing the strengths of BYE and LAE; (c) the combined benefits of BYE or LAE and professional or technical training may be achieved by adopting the main features of LAE such as its broad-based curriculum and whole-person development approach to undergraduate education or by combining a student's undergraduate and postgraduate studies over time; and (d) for BYE to achieve its goals in China it should occupy a central rather than tangential role in the undergraduate curriculum.
