How to improve English skills?

The purpose of middle school English teaching is to improve the students' four skills of listening,speaking,reading and writing,with the base of necessary phonetics,large vocabulary and good grammar,but this is not the final purpose.The final purpose is to let students be able to use the language.     

An Introduction to Interactive Teaching Mode and Its Implication in College English Writing Class

Interactive teaching mode refers to a dynamic process of teaching in which teachers and students and teaching materials will affect each other. It offers language learners a chance to communicate and exchange information frequently. Group cooperative leaning has long been considered to be one of the most important forms of the interactive teaching mode. English writing,one of the essential English language skills, is an integral part of college English teaching. The high or low level of English writing is a comprehensive reflection of various abilities. This paper aims to explore the application of the interactive teaching model in college English writing class in order to improve students’ motivation and ability of English writing, thus can provide an effective way of learning to the current college English writing class.     

Oral Teaching English in Senior School under the Guide of Motivation Theories

Oral English is always ignored by teaching in senior school.After years of learning,as we all know most students are so called high scores and low abilities,or what they obtain is so-called"mute English".At present,the English teaching in high school mainly emphasis on written examination ability,so the senior student master certain elementary reading,writing and listen ing skills while their speaking competence is poor.The author made some analysis from different aspects of the present situation of senior students and worked out some ways according to the motivation theory in order to arouse students to improve their speaking competence.     

How to Improve Students' Listening Ability

At present, the purpose of middle school English teaching is to improve students＇ skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. However, the teachers and the students yield to the examinations, which result in many problems in English learning, particularly in English listening. The main causes of it are as follows： （ 1 ） Teachers and students think it＇s not important to practice listening in junior one and junior two. They prefer tactics for the examination of entering schools of a higher grade. （2）Listening is not taught systematically to students, such as how to choose words, make sentences, organize paragraphs, conceive the whole essay and so on.

On Cultivating Students’ Ability of Listening Comprehension in Senior High School in the Northwest of Guangxi

Nowadays, the role of listening course is changed and listening teaching begins to gain high priority in foreign language learning and teaching. However, the English level of students in China is still poor, especially in the northwest of Guangxi. One of the reasons is that teachers in senior high schools have a tendency to ignore listening, because they think that listening is time-consumed. They have to finish the teaching scheme punctually, though listening is the basic and important skill among the other three skills, listening teaching gains no large progress.     

The Application of TBLT in Oral English Teaching for Children

Task-based language teaching approach firmly believes that study should be students' interest, emphasizes"learning bydoing", enables students to acquire language in the process of completing tasks, which solves the problem of laying too much stress on language knowledge and grammar knowledge while ignoring students' emotional attitudes and comprehensive ability to use lan - guage in English teaching. The English Curriculum Standards for primary schools require that the task of English teaching is to arouse students'study interest, and enable students to master certain English knowledge, and form certain language application ability for them. This paper makes a brief study on the use of Task-based Language method in oral English teaching for children, and the instruments referred to include the features, application of task-based approach, the importance of children's spoken Eng- lish, and the reflections from students and teacher.     

How to Help Slow-learning Students

Now English is widely used all over the world.So learing English well is very important.But I find that some of the student aren’t interested in English.To them,learing English is a boring task..Some data show that 45% of the students in middle school have much difficulty in English learning.Therefore,it’s necessary to do research on SLS so that English teaching can serve all the students and fulfil the teaching programme completely.     

An Analysis of English Listening Test-taking Skills and Strategies for College Entrance Examination under A New Field of View

As we all know, listening has always been a weak point in students' English learning. Doing English listening tests often encounter some difficulties. Group Cooperative Learning—Making Learning a Deeper Process

The paper is to explore whether or not group cooperative learning in author’s university can make students learning deeply.In 2004,the Chinese Ministry of Education constituted"College English Teaching Syllabus"(College English Teaching Syllabus,2004,showed in appendix),in which it makes it clear that the properties and objectives of College English teaching are:College English teaching is a teaching system which has the content of English language knowledge,English applied skills,learning strategies,intercultural communication.According to the syllabus,lots of Chinese universities will aim to explore new and effective teaching modes,which will stimulate college English teachers to reflect their traditional teaching methods and make the corresponding improvement inevitably.     

Implications of Output Hypothesis on College English Writing

With the reform of college English course,the objectives,philosophy and models of Chinese EFL teaching have been deeply changed.So college students are required to have higher language proficiency;it is also a challenge for the English teachers in our country.The traditional teaching mode should be changed.College English teaching is not only to input knowledge to students,but also to foster their skills on the application of knowledge,and excavate their potential in order to promote their language proficiency.Writing,as one of the efficient ways to measure students’comprehensive English ability,has attracted more attention in the field of English researches,which,however,got little improvement so far.What we can see from the requirements is that college students and teachers should put more attention on their output instead of input alone.Therefore,this paper intends to apply Swain’s "Output Hypothesis" to the college English teaching of non-English major students in China,and make some teaching suggestions based on the three functions of the "Output Hypothesis".     

The Application of Discourse Analysis in English Listening Teaching

At present,Discourse analysis is very useful in teaching English.This thesis is to explore college English listening teach ing under the DA mode.58 students were selected to complete the project.And as a result,the students’listening skills and com municative competence has been developed greatly after the DA.     

How to Use Newspaper or Magazine Articles to Teach English Language Skills

A Brief Analysis of Negative Transfer of Chinese on the English Writings

Based on the researches of language transfer,contrastive analysis and error analysis,this paper tries to investigate the negative transfer of Chinese on Chinese students’English writings from the perspective of syntax.During one and a half months’teaching practice in Shannxi Hanzhong No.1 Middle School,the author lived through the real teaching process and found that there were lots of problems in students’English writings.The author makes a contrastive study of the different characteristics existing in Chinese and English languag es at the level of syntax,and analyses the typical syntactic errors appearing in the 60 students’English compositions collected from one or dinary class.These syntactic errors are caused by the negative transfer of Chinese.The purpose of the investigation is to study in what pat tern students have been influenced by Chinese in their English writings.Based on the findings and analysis of the mother tongue transfer on English writings,some implications are also provided in order to help minimize or eliminate the interference of negative transfer of the Chinese in students’English writings and improve the teaching and learning of English.     

Opinions upon the students’ principal part in participation in the English language teaching

The participation of students in English teaching is the key to improve the quality of education.How to enhance the participation of students and how to train students’ ability,so as to enhance the effectiveness of teaching,all of those have now become the teacher’ s teaching and research focus.     

On Vocational Students’Listening Obstacles and Strategies

English listening is one of the most important but the most difficult parts in English teaching. It is not only the main way of acquiring language information , but the base of improving other skills.
