Nanchang, April 9: Wang Shaoxiong from Guangming Daily and our reporter Zhao Xiangru reported that the Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee and Commission for Discipline Inspection recently investigated and severely punished a major case of malpractice in the enrollment of graduate students at the Jiangxi Medical College. Ma Ti, former member of the party committee and vice-president of the college, was expelled from the party and demoted from the level of deputy chief of a provincial governmental department to that of section chief, and his salary reduced by one level. Shang Junjia, deputy party branch secretary and deputy chief of the scientific research section, was dismissed from all his posts inside and outside the party. Yu Changfeng, a functionary in the scientific research section, was expelled from the party and put on a two-year probation pending discharge. The Provincial Party Commission for Discipline Inspection publicized this incident through the province so that cadres at all levels will learn a lesson.  相似文献

Most of this article consists of the reproduction of Recommendation No. R (95) 7 of the Committee of Ministers [of the Council of Europe] to Member States on Brain Drain in the Sectors of Higher Education and Research, adopted by the Ministers’ Deputies on 2 March 1995 and of its Annex consisting of a set of concrete measures to be taken in order to enact and to support the Recommendation. ABSTRACT

Australian universities generate substantial incomes from foreign students. Therefore, it is important to obtain information about these students to enable effective overseas marketing and delivery of services.

This study focused on Asian students, who tend to experience difficulty while studying in Australia, with an effective sample of 111 students being drawn from the three South Australian universities.

Reasons for studying in South Australia varied widely, with evidence of four distinct student segments, but no dominant selection criterion in any segment. Roughly one-quarter of respondents had experienced significant problems living in Australia, including communication, homesickness and loneliness. Significant variation was found with study-related difficulties, with four segments again being identified. Only 17% of respondents had experienced a range of serious study-related problems, including communication and pressure of work, but 40% had experienced serious problems involving fear of failure and expectations from home.

Respondents tended to evaluate university services as only moderately satisfactory.  相似文献

Inspired by the coining together of the various countries of Europe, by the rebirth, at all levels, of interest in the common European identity, and by the growing European consensus as to the importance of the university as a major pan‐European cultural institution, the author, First Deputy Chairman of the USSR State Committee for Public Education, presents a project for the founding of a University of the Peoples of Europe. What he envisions is primarily a research institution devoted to the study of pan‐European problems of all sorts and the generalization of the solutions. The author suggests outlines of both the possible activities of such a university and of its organization. He believes that the institution should function under the auspices and with the support of Unesco.  相似文献

This paper prompts us to consider ‘representation’ with respect to a committee structure ‘managing’ the development of the Irish senior cycle physical education framework. The paper is timely due to the national interest in the senior cycle subject development in Ireland and complements work undertaken on the development of policy in senior physical education internationally. Bernstein's [(1990). Class, Code and Control: Volume 4. The Structuring of Pedagogic Discourse. London: Routledge] construction of ‘pedagogic discourse’ and Pitkin's [(1967). The Concept of Representation. University of California Press] notion of ‘representation’ provide a framework for exploring the process by which Senior Cycle Physical Education (SCPE) was ‘managed’ by the Physical Education Course Committee. Interviews were conducted with nine stakeholders who were members of the Committee and the constant comparative method was used to analyse the interview data. The results revolved around representation of individual views in favour of representative roles, interacting within the remit of the Committee structure and activity outside of the formal meetings. A number of conclusions arise in examining the extent to which ‘representation’ provides a framework for exploring the process by which curriculum development within Irish SCPE was ‘managed’ by the appointed Committee. Such a study provides significant points for discussion for those charged with drawing together groups to advise on curriculum development.  相似文献
